How to decorate a guest room with 2 dark brown walls and 2 hot pink walls?
Tammy
My daughter just moved out of the house and her bedroom will now be used as a guest room. It was recently painted so we really don't want to paint it again but there are 2 walls that are chocolate brown and 2 wall are hot pink. The headboard of the bed and nightstand are white. How can I decorate this room without it feeling like a teenage girl's room?
Answer
Oh gosh...I don't usually kind of insist on painting if you don't want to, but I'm hoping I can talk you into painting the 2 pink walls, cause frankly, the pink walls & white furniture will be hard to overcome as an adult room. The white furniture we can work with. So we have to have a bedding set for inspiration. I found this one that has a white background to pull in the white furniture & overall lighten the room:

The chocolate is in there & the print is a modern stylized Jacobean print. Soooooo...would you be willing to paint those 2 pink walls the rusty red in this bedding??? Take a sham to Sherwin Williams & also the name/number of the current pink (or a good picture of it). They will help you choose the best method of covering the pink with the red. Also, to make the room look bigger & sophisticated, paint the ceiling the color of the tan in the draperies & bedding. Again, SW can help you with this.
This is another choice you might like - just follow my same principles:

Do you have a ceiling fixture in the room??? Do you have nightstands??? (I hope so) Consider using a pair of these over the nightstands:

And this as your ceiling fixture:

Lastly...wall decor. Use a LARGE print for impact like this:

The larger & fewer the accessories the better.
