I'm a girl, 12 1/2 years old, and my room needs to seriously be DECORATED like a teen (or a pre-teen I guess)! My problem is though, I live in a apartment, so I can't paint any walls or anything. What do you think are some ways to make a bedroom cool? =]

Answer
This site www.thesimplestencil.com offers some wall decor that you can put up and you can remove it before you leave. It does not damage walls at all but it gives you some style. My daughter used it in her dorm room last year for college and she plans on using it again in her apartment this year.

It is really easy to do and inexpensive. They have a lot of pictures and designs you choose from for preteens.

Good luck.

How to arrange one-room flat for two girls (20 years old)?

Petrine

Kitchen and bathroom are separate. Room has about 20 m2.

Do you know some sites, where I can find inspiration or advice?

Answer
I saw something that was for little girls through college years. Had a double bed bunk bed on both sides of the room and underneath it there was a desk area so there was study and computer spae underneath the bed. ouldn't be too small a room as there were 2 queen beds. That was a room that took them up in years but still is a bit collegy and not more adult. But then is hard to design an adult room with 2 beds in it. Could have beds on opposite sides of the room and the beds with headboards against opposite walls. But room would be smaller as not using the underbed area and could share a desk or have a desk in one of fthe other rooms. That doesn't consider a living area though.

You might be better with a pair of sofa beds though folding them out could be a problem or they might share the sofa bed. There are also wide chairs that will make a twin bed and might be able to have a regular sofa and 2 chairs that make into beds at night. Murphy beds are nie but expensive and for a flat where you don't own it, it might be a bit expensive. They need the livigng space thoug as they will want to have friends in and don't want to invite to a bedroom. They need it to look like a living room and to have it turn magically into a bedroom for them at night.

As to places, look up "small space" onthe internet to see if something is there. See if there are books at the library on designing small spaces. You an talk to people in furniture stors to tell tem your dilemma and see what they suggest. Unless they hire design people, they are usually at a loss so I don't hope for too much there unless they have the experiene or happen to have furniture that would work. Might check out the twin bed chairs to see the size. Then might have a sofa as well for guests. Have to have enough space for the chairs to fold down to the bed though. Have them put them down and have the girls lay on them or someone lay on them as some sofabeds have the bar right at the back where it hurts to lay on it and they need something comfortable. Better to spend a bit more to get something comfortable.
