beautiful bedroom ideas for small rooms image
Girliee
I'm getting my room re-done, but not sure how I want it.
Does anyone know where I can get bedroom accessories, which are funky and like they belong in hollywood? haha
Or maybe a vintage themed room.
Answer
The post-war and early 1950's were the hottest years in Hollywood. Art Deco styling was on it's way into living rooms and the silver screen! The beauty and talents of Bette Davis, Carole Lombard, Lauren Bacall and Rita Hayworth were sophisticated and glamorous.
Every woman wanted a beautiful sanctuary of femininity and luxury. (we still do!)
Textures and colors were "borrowed" from the Victorian period, but not so stuffy.
But a MUST for every lady of the house was a vanity . A white vanity with an attached mirror where she could apply her make-up, style her hair, and adjust her diamonds and pearls before going out.
The vanity was probably white with a few gold-leaf embellishments. The small stool where she sat to admire herself was surely upholstered with a pale pink silk brocade cushion. Her silver brush set shared the vanity top with simple, but elegant perfume bottles filled with her favorite scents and dressed with atomizers.
Her bed was adorned with a champagne colored silk or satin brocade comforter and mountains of matching pillows. Across the end of the bed was a mink throw blanket for extra warmth or to toss around her shoulders if she needed to get up.to take a late night call from her director.
There was a lovely chrystal lamp on the night stand. And two bedroom chairs upholstered in (you guessed it) tufted silk brocade.(pink.

What? You don't have a mink throw for your added comfort? Easily remedied by a trip to a fabric store for fake fur, Sew a backing of soft ultra suede to it
Put on your pink satin slippers (with the feathered puffs on the toes) lie down on the lounge sofa and read the script
Oh, and pick up a gold star at Pier 1 for the outside of your door!

How should I decorate my bedroom that has forest green carpet and wood paneling?
Katie
I can't change the carpet or paint the walls but I want my room to look more like a teenage girls room. The walls are a really light cream/wood color and the carpet has flecks of purple and tan in it. I just want some ideas as to how to decorate in a way that will tie every thing in. What color furniture? curtains? and bed set?
Answer
Hanging light purple sheer panels can lighten it up since there are flecks of purple in the carpeting. A light colored poster board would brighten up the room along with some teen posters (I've seen an array of posters at Walmart). A light purple bedspread that matches the curtains would also bring brightness into the room. Go to garage sales and get an old piece of furniture like a table or a small desk. Paint the top one color and the legs another. Like purple top, tan legs. Sometimes you can get reject paint at paint stores or Walmart at a good price. If you get poster board and it has a border, use that brightly colored paint to accent it. A purple border that matches the table/desk would look beautiful. I hope this helps you, just be creative.
