NEXT FALL I'M WANTING TOO SELL MY HOME. OF COURSE I'D LIKE TO MAKE THE LARGEST PROFIT THATS POSSIBLE. AWHILE BACK I HAD FOUND A WEB SITE THAT LISTED HOME IMPROVEMENTS AND HOW MUCH THEY WILL INCREASE YOUR PROPERTY. I NOW CAN NOT FIND THIS WEB SITE. EXAMPLE OF IMPROVEMENT, REPLACING CARPET WITH HARDWOOD FLOORS, CHANGING SHOP INTO ANOTHER BEDROOM, ADDING AN ALL SEASONS ROOM, THINGS OF THIS NATURE. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IMPROVEMENTS SHOULD BE DONE TO INCREASE AND WHAT IMPROVEMENTS ARE NOT WORTH MESSING WITH?

Answer
first it is a good idea to talk to a realtor that works for your area since every area is different for the home value and what people are looking for. second yes it is a good idea to change the carpet to hardwood..but you might want to keep carpet in the bedrooms ( most people prefer carpet only in the bedrooms since it keeps the heat- but again it all depends on your area and what the customers are looking for in your area) second your kitchen adn your bathrooms. they are so important. they sell kitchen is the main selling point of your house. so make sure it is upgraded and modern. fresh paint could do good all thru house with natural colors. you might want to chage your kitchen cabinets or countertops....how bout tiles in your house? are they out dated? dont forget your curb appeal!!! you have to get ppl in your house first for them to buy it so it has to be inviting. and there are some other little detail..like your doors..and your door handles..your curtains(where i live you have to leave the curtains with the house) trust me little details counts..and everyhouse should have a major selling point..of at least one. ours is our outdoor inground pool and very upgraded kitchen and powder room. so have a major selling point. it could even be great hardwood floors you got going on in your house. it is always good to show buyers the extra rooms you have. ( make sure they are not messy or clutterd) and keep your garage clutter free. the less furniture you display in your house, the bigger it will look. so the better it is. oh and lets not forget make sure your roof is in good condition, your furnice . good luck with everything. and again dont forget to choose natural colors with your walls. i am sure people enjoy some bold colors but it is good to keep it neutral , since it will leave the choice of color to people. it is easier to make it darker than make it easier. here is a beautiful choice of color for you. parisian taupe. beautiful. anyways good luck again :)

Is this a good idea for a townhouse decor?

I am thinking about redoing my old fashioned town house to something more modern. I was thinking about having the whole house being black and white and then different color accents in each room.

1. Is this a good idea or does it just sound dumb?
2. What would be good accent colors there is a kitchen, living room, dinning room, guest room/ office, bathroom, and master bedroom?

Answer
Don't paint any wall black.
You can paint with grey colors. They are beautiful.
Living room :http://www.myperfectcolor.com/MyPerfectColor-Light-Grey-Flannel-p/mpc_ecc_00098372.htm
You can use black furniture if you use some color accents such as pillows and lamps.
Perhaps add yellow.
