James was a great help:) Ok so here we go. For small rooms it's great to use a light colors because it seems to open up a room. So keep the colors light. Too keep a room from getting too dark if you still want to use a darker color then have an accent wall with your bed against it. This will make it the focal point. Then you can paint the rest of it white so you have the best of both worlds; a light an airy room, and that dark color you wanted. Or you can have a white room with the accent color teal and something else if you want.
I love the look of teal and coral together. I think color teal is the most beautiful color ever.. As of yesterday.. For right now.
What's the point of having windows if they're gonna be closed all the time? Keep your windows open (the curtains at least) and let the light in. Having natural light in gives the room that great light and airy feeling.
Another great reason to have natural lighting. This doesn't really have to do with anything, it's just a great tip. If you have good natural lighting then put your alarm clock near that lighting. The light is like your body's alarm clock so when your alarm clock goes off you will feel a lesser need to roll over and go back to sleep.
No matter how big your room is you usually don't see people trying to make their room smaller. Another great way to keep your room open is to use multipurpose furniture. Things that have storage in them. Like an ottoman doubles as a foot rest and a storage place to keep books and other things. Make sure your night stands have storage space in them instead of using a stool.
Designs: Since your room would most likely look tacky if you used all your favorite patterns on the walls, so try to incorporate them in your decor. You can have chevron, polka dots, and striped pillows and picture frames and things like that and it will still look fine.
I'll give you all of the links that I found. Most of them have coral in them and some have teal in it and they look great together. If you end up loving it like I did then these will be helpful for redoing:
