Vintage Girl Bedroom?

bruyre

I am looking for a bedding that is vintage and artsy like this:

or this:

but I can't find any like them. Sites or links would be great. also if you know how I could go about setting up my room like this:

like where to get the sheets over the bed and the string of lanterns that size. Also any other design tip you would think look good in the room. Thanks!

Answer
Try Anthropology's home store (though it does tend to be a little expensive)
http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/category.jsp?navAction=jump&navCount=0&id=HOME
if you want something a little less expensive, try Urban Outfitters apartment section
http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?popId=&navAction=poppushpush&isSortBy=true&navCount=27&pushId=APARTMENT&id=A_DECORATE

Both of these places have bedding, decor, and furniture that achieves that bohemian/indie/vintage look you are going for.
follow this link for the lanterns:

regarding the canopy style thing-- just take 2 or 3 pieces of light (not heavy) fabric of your choice that each piece should be twice the length of your bed. you can either put thumbtacks over the 4 corners of your bed on your ceiling or nail in the fabric in whatever drape-ish fashion you like.
regarding the decor: hit the second hand shops and vintage stores, they will have cool but cheap artsy papers and art that you can hang on your walls. Also, find some photography that you like and pin it all over your walls (magazine clippings will do)
also, find a pretty tapestry (they sell them at urban outfitters or vintage stores) that you like and hang it on the wall, use it as rug, or a blanket.
last but not least: dont be matchy matchy! vintage bohemian style is all about different colors and patterns coming together to create one artsy and pretty room. dont be afraid to take risks!

Princess themed bedroom(NOT for a little girl)?

Sarah

I'm a teen girl (16) and I'm kinda starting a princess theme in my room. And I don't want to end up looking like a six year olds room. What I mainly need help with is well... Okay I have a wall with a big mirror then I have a wal decor quote right above it that says "yes, you are the fairest of them all" have two glass squared shelves on either side of the mirror. I have yet to put anything inside yet because I can think or find something princess or fairy tale like to put in it that doesn't make it seem like a child's room. So what should i put in them to carry on my theme ? Thank you very much !

Answer
Be careful not to get too carried away with the theme, as with things that say 'princess' literally, that's where it gets little girlish. Instead, concentrate on how a fairytale princess room would look. Purple is a color of royalty, think dark purple bedding in a lush fabric like velour or a very soft microfiber, satiny drapes in dark purple, a large bejeweled mirror, a collection of small decorative mirrors all grouped together closely, crystal lamps and a crystal chandelier in place of your ceiling light, lots of satiny and velour/microfiber throw pillows on your bed in pink, a lacey 'canopy' over your bed, (it doesn't need to be a canopy bed, you can hng it like a swag from your ceiling, draping down the sides), a pink or ivory slipper chair, feather boa draped over something, and lots of sparkle. If purple isn't your favorite color,a wine color or burgandy would look royal as well. As for your square boxes, think bejeweled, a tiara, large diamond-like necklace, or other sparkly accessories. And what princess doesn't have a bejeweled jewelry box in her princess room? Add a lush area rug for your tootsies and your set. Pier 1 is a great place to find a lot of these things. Or get to a craft store and bejewel what you already have. Sounds wonderful.
