Q. I have new bedding that is a dark brown and blue jacquard print and a matching ceiling light. All the furniture is dark brown. I don't want it to be too dark or too bright and I want the blue to pop in the bedding and not be washed out. I also haven't decided on carpet or ceiling color either. Its our first home and first real decorated bedroom so we want it to be perfect. Please anyone have ideas.
A. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think the color called "rice grain" (# 6155) would look really great with the bedding that you describe.
You can also take a photo of your room & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

What color should I paint my walls?
Q. My bedroom walls are currently white. My room theme color is mainly lime-ish green with dark brown furniture and a brown carpet. What color paint would go along with green and brown?
A. Well I think white probably looks good against it, but you could try a cream or beige color, or maybe a very light green. You could also consider grey. If you want more color, you could paint the room pink or yellow. You could do the top half of the wall lime green, and add something interesting to the bottom, and make the bottoms half white (you might need to run molding around the center of the room or something to make it look good. There are a few ideas of colors with green here: http://decor.homefixcorporation.com/2012/03/spring-decorating-going-green.html
I guess it really depends on the look you are going for. Adding a neutral like grey or cream will keep the focus on the green color, and adding a brighter color will make it....well...brighter.

How can I decorate my bedroom with chocolate brown carpet?
Q. We are building a new home and my father really wanted chocolate brown carpet. We will only have carpet in the bedrooms, and it does look really pretty, but it is concerning. I need tips on decorating without making it look tacky. I wanted my bedroom to have a modern feel. I wanted to buy either black or white bedroom furniture. The walls will be painted a creamy beige color. Any good tips or advice out there? Please help!!
A. I would say use brown, white and turquoise with white furniture. For a wall color I would go for a light turquoise or blue; for baseboards and trip go white and for furniture I would go white with turquoise; for accessories use a variety of brown an white and blue to tie everything together. This will help break up the dark color of the carpet and give you a well put together look. A friend on mine writes a design blog and she suggested this page for more ideas:
