How to redecorate a small bedroom?
Q. I've outgrown my bedroom and my dad has finally agreed to let me redecorate my room. I was thinking a sort of vintage/french/old-style room, those are the things I love.
But to be honest I have no idea how to go about decorating it. My room is a pale purple and that is the one thing my dad refuses to let me change, so I have to work around that.

A. You can start by repainting that wall- maybe "tuscan sunset"- or also there is a type of paint called "crackle" which makes it look like 'old world' peeling paint- is really awesome, but takes time.
Also for wall and other decor garage sales and thrift stores are great places to shop! It is th time for people to start having them, and may I suggest going to a "HOA" garage sale. That means the whole neighborhood is having the garage sales and you wont have to drive all over town.
Also I think every room could use a 6 ft ficus - always like the way they make rooms look. Wal-Mart, $20- $30.
And to finish off, you will need rugs and window coverings. For the rug, Big Lots is always a good place to check. Window coverings are easy cuz you can buy the fabric you want and make your own, and is VERY easy to do.

Where should I place in my house a seascape painting?
Q. I was looking to buy a Seascape oil painting from one of these: http://www.overstockart.com/seascapes.html I can't decide where to put the painting... does anyone have a good idea of where to place the oil painting? some of the choice I'm contemplating is the bedroom, living room, play room.
A. I personally think the bedroom is a perfect spot to hand your painting. It is tranquil and serene. Incidentally I like the paintings "Boats at St. Marie" and "Dark Waters", the first is a little whimsical, the second is very realistic, the scene I enjoy most at the ocean, the waves at dusk. My home is decorated in an old world style, lots of natural elements, leathers, woods, stones, etc. . . My bedroom has a different feel but still I wanted to keep the natural elements, I used colors and items such as beautiful shells and seascapes to decorate with. Of course, only you know the decorating style of your home and where the piece would fit best.
