Q. I am moving in august and I need ideas for decorating my bedroom. I will be sharing my room with my son, his bedding is baby blue and lime green moons and stars. My favorite colors are hot pink and lime green. I want my part of the room to be relaxing and I want the bed to be the focal point. I am going to have white furniture. I want my side of the room to have a sensual feel. Any ideas?
A. is this room large? U can paint u'r side one color then his another but something that would kinda compliment ea other.. esp u'r color if u'r gonna b the focal pt. Or since u both like & have lime green go w/ lime green walls. then on one wall by him paint either blue stripes/waves/circles/moons.. etc. Then on u'r side put more hot pink items on the walls.. pillows etc...
What are some good complementary colors to pink walls? to transform it into a more sophisticated sheek bedroom?
Q. My dad seems to be oblivious to the fact that his girls are fully grown women! so we are now stuck with hot pink walls in the female suite of our family house. I will rather not paint over it (and hurt his feelings :) so I am looking for complementary colors and decorating ideas to mute out this bold color and ground the space. Any suggestions?
A. You can make your room quite modern and glamorous. White furniture or mirrored fronts on your wood pieces would look nice with a crystal chandelier Add some black and white artwork of Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe with a furry rug. Green is the complementary color to red and pink is just a tinted red. Use a soft green with whites for a fresh, vibrant, crisp look or muted soft greens such as celedon or sage for a calmer feel. Grass green is strong and Lime green is vibrant.
I would suggest choosing your bedding first and pull your palette from it. Or, decide on your artwork and build from there. Here is an example of pink incorporated in a Gauguin painting. Black will always ground a room.

i'm getting my bedroom done soon, and i don't know how i should get it done. it can't be too expensive. i have a white wardrobe, and a brown wood bed that has to stay in the room, but apart from that anything is fine really. please help. :)
