Need ideas--Redecorating room for 4 yo boy/girl twins!?

treefor3

I'm looking for creative ideas for redecorating my 4 year old boy/girl twins' bedroom. They've outgrown their toddler beds and the babyish nursery decor. We're planning to get them bunk beds and I'd like to update the room. My boy is all "boy"--trucks and cars and the like--and my girl is all "girl"--pink and princesses and ponies. They do share a common love of animals, so I was thinking of doing some sort of animal theme. Any suggestions?

Ideas for a toddler's bedroom?

HOLLISTER

My 3 and 6 year olds share a bedroom, and i earned a little bit of money so I decided to redo their rooms. does anyone have any ideas on what toys to buy? or furniture? Thanks
They are both boys and love boats

Answer
Are they boys? Girls? What are their interests?

I would paint one wall with 2 sail boats and some waves....let them paint some fish...or put up those sticky picutes of fish in the water.

Even if you are not artisitic you could draw a sail boat. Draw it in pensil first then fill it in with colorful paint.

Find some simple or solid comforters, sew some pillows with boat print for decoration and maybe have them color some pictures of a boat and frame them on the walls for decoration as well

Here's an example of an easy sailboat you should be able to draw....

And here are the fish decor I was mentioning

I'm 14 years old. I'm not your average teenager I don't have pink walls and zebra bedspread. I had my bed size is a full so it kinda takes up a little bit of the room I have a desk a dresser and shelf and a small TV stand and I just don't know where to put anything please give me some ideas please please please

Answer
You can buy 1/2 yard (18x45") of super cute earth toned colored fabric at walmart for $3 in tons of different patterns/designs.

Make a fabric bulletin board to hang above your desk for notes, photos, cards...
http://www.etsy.com/listing/72921950/designer-sparrows-on-plum-memory-board -ribbon optional
Easy and inexpensive to make one by wrapping fabric to the back of a corkboard and staple in place. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10159457/ -cut fabric 2" larger

Cut two 1 1/2" wide strips of the fabric and wrap two picture frame.
http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/family/fabric-crafts5.htm - overlap like the picture
Cut out or print and frame 5x7 close-ups of beautiful flowers and hang together. http://www.treesflowers.com/wp-content/uploads/auto_save_image/2010/08/175525N3o.jpg
http://sizzlingconcepts.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/white-rose-wallpaper.jpg

Make a cute accent pillow for your bed with the remaining fabric to tie everything together. Easy to sew with a needle and thread if you can't use a sewing machine.
Cut fabric 13x30"
Fold the fabric in half, in-side-out so the color/print is inside.
Sew 1/2" in, along the edge on the two long sides, leaving the short end open.
Turn pillow cover right-side-out so the color/print is on the outside.
Fill with batting or even with a sweater/shirt you don't wear anymore.
Then sew up the opening.

For a girly touch drape a lighted feather lei over your mirror.

Teenager Girl Bedroom Ideas?

Jenna

Hey! I'm a 13 year old girl, and I need some help. I have been going months on the internet trying to see what bedroom theme I like best. There is pink zebra, colorful but cute, dots, pink and brown, etc. I am also a cheerleader, if that helps. My parents won't really help, and I feel like I'm about to lose my mind! I need furniture, paint, bedding, etc. I really want a little hangout area for me and my friends, but furniture is expensive! I really like loft beds, but another con. My ceilings are really weird! They are slanted in every direction. I also have the biggest bedroom in the house, with a queen sized bed. So if anybody could help me find a cute teen girl theme for my bedroom, I would love you forever! And one more thing, I'm on a tight budget. Thanks! :)

Answer
I find picking a theme is a good place to start. I just moved into my first apartment. I went with photography cause its something im passionate about. So I covered my walls with photos my friends and I had taken. Ikea or thirft stores are a great place to shop for furniture and its super easy for students to find deals. Check out this site it has some great pointers

Cool teenage girl bedroom ideas?

dkkdance10

I want re-paint and organize my bedroom, but I'm not sure what colors to paint it. I'm a teenage girl, 15 years old. I have one wall that is slanted in my room, and I was thinking of painting it with either chalk paint or whiteboard paint. Any ideas for painting my room? I like bright colors (pink, purple, lime green, etc). Is there any way to paint zebra stripes on the wall? (My dad has to be able to do this haha). Right now my walls are purple, lime green, and pink, but I'm getting sick of it. Pictures would be great, thanks:D
my dad is good at this stuff! not to make it sound like it has to be easy

Is this a nice room design for my daughter?

Cat Phat

http://www.raftertales.com/decorate/girls-bedroom/ is the web where i found the design for my daughter .. is it nice ? you'll have to scroll down to see the photo . If you know any other webs for children's rooms please tell me

Answer
It really depends on your daughter's taste, age, likes, dislikes. You didn't mention how old she is but from the picture you've chosen, I'm going to say she's a little girl (under the age of 10).

Does she like pastel colors? If not, then that room won't do it for her.

That being said, there are many things to consider when choosing colors for a room, apart from what the person's favorite color is.

There are colors that exicte and make it hard to fall asleep (red, bright yellow, orange and bright royal blue).

There are colors that relax and help to unwind and fall asleep easily (soft blue, soft pink, soft green).

And then you have to take into account the placement of the room. Yep. If the room is facing south and receives lots of sun, a warm color will make the room hotter and it will feel suffocating (red, orange, yellow). If the room is facing north, then cold colors will make the room feel even colder (blue, ice green, bright lavendar).

Color really does affect how you feel. It's no mistake that most hospitals have soft green, pink and blue rooms...

Okay... now for my personal opinion. Unless your daughter is around the age of 4 or 5, she'll tire quickly of the decor in the room you've chosen. Seeing as how kids change so quickly, you might be better to opt for something less childish. Consider using more teen-ish bedding and adding youthful touches (stuffed animals, toys, paintings, etc.) until she grows into the decor. This way, you'll save money and you won't be frustrated.

Here are some sites you might enjoy:

Here are some rooms I would prefer, but then again, it's not my daughter...

Enjoy your new space!

Any ideas for designing a mural for a teenage girl?

Claudz

I'm choosing a mural for my bedroom but can only find children's designs. Anyone know any sites that have older designs? I'm thinking I might have to draw it myself but I don't actually know what I want..any ideas? Thanks

Answer
I might go with something abstract. You're a teenager, so your mind is going to change over the next few years about your room (from 13 - 18, my bedroom looked different about every other week). If you go with something abstract, you only have to worry about getting tired of the colors, instead of the whole picture. I would go on e-bay to look or just draw/paint your own.

Teenage girl bedroom designs?

Simplyx33

okay. so I'm moving soon. like tommarrow! Yeah. And I'm freaking out. I still haven't decided how I want my bedroom. I'm a 15 year old girl. I've had a few ideas but I still really can't decide on what I want.

1st idea was cream walls, black trim and border. we have dark wood floors. a black shaggy rug. King sized bed. above my bed would paint a black dream catcher. maybe throw in a white vanity table, with some white side tables and a canopy?

2nd idea was 2 walls would be either pink or like a purplish color. the other two walls would be a grey. and paint a chandelier on the wall instead of a dreamcatcher? An get a white shaggy rug instead of balck. keep the white vanity table and white shelfs.

3rd idea was like a fairytale bedroom. pale pink walls. silver canopy. silver bed frame. Silver Lacey curtains. glittery silver bedskirt. ?? still not too sure about this one. still trying to think about all the details.

soo what do you think? what ideas do you like the best? or do you have any other ideas? Please. Anything is helpful (:

Thanks in advance,
Carson

Answer
Well there Carson, I'm 15 as well and I LOVE to interior design, especially bedrooms, teens, you know, so anyways...It sounds to me like you like pink, but don't wanna go all out pink...so...If you were to go with a lighter shade of grey for the walls, and a black border, then a paler, but not too pale pink for the bed spread, comforter, or whatever and take black and make a beautiful like oldish looking, but you know those pretty trees they have on a lot of graphic tees, and paint that above your bed...then go with a white shaggy rug, black would work just as well....could go with a white or black shelves and vanity, but do you see the theme I'm workin at here....a couple really textureful pillows and.......walla, you will have created a master piece!!! :D I hope everything works out for you!!! And hope this helped!!! Im glad I got to help give design advice....Ohhh...and always go with your gut, while designing something, it never hurts to try cause it can always be changed....Thanks for asking for help...I enjoyed helping someone who I would now consider a friend!!! :) And let me know how everything works out for ya! Happy to help! ~kay eMail me at: 808kiki.dee808@gmail.com or kay_dos@ymail.com

Bedroom design help (teen girl)?

queenfanfo

I am possibly getting my room re-done this summer (for my birthday) and was wanting something modern but cool. I already have a few ideas in my head, but the thing is, I don't want to be costing my mum and dad a heap! I will also be contributing money to the furniture and things, so they won't be paying for everything, but it would be really good if I could get everything at a reasonable price. My ideas were:

-A double bed with storage. (This one isn't really an idea because I do need a new bed.)

-A ball chair. (They are cool and look comfortable! They are quite expensive though..)

-A wall sticker of Freddie Mercury or any inspiring quotes or song lyrics.

-Some kind of wardrobe that isn't too chunky and is not wooden.

-A whiteboard or something? Anything that I can kind of use to put on reminders and photos, etc.

-A funky bedside lamp.

I would like to have a completely new room from what I have right now, which is all girly. I feel like I need a more grown-up room, but still one that isn't too old for me and is modern. I am obsessed with the band Queen so any Queen related products that I could put in my new room would be a bonus!
Also, I am sorry if I have come across as picky and fussy and spoilt, but I just want to make sure that my room ends up perfect, and I really need help finding websites and stores in the UK to buy these things for my room. Plus, I have saved up since my last birthday to get money for the room and am still saving at the moment.
Any help would be appreciated. Links are good as well. Thanks :)

Oh, and the colour theme would probably be black and another colour, but I still need to decide on the other colour.

Answer
Designing a room is really fun. If you want a grown up look, go for neutral colors. You said you like black, which is a start. I recommend coffee house colors, like chocolate browns or off-white. You can keep it youthful by adding stylish decoration such as framed posters, plants and draped cloths over your furniture to add a splash of color. I myself an a fan of reds and purples. A white board could be a good idea as long as it doesn't become cluttered with notes. If you want to stay organized, I recommend a planner or a decorative notepad. A few throw pillows are nice, but don't cover your bed in them like some girls do. A nightstand is a good idea, not just for a lamp but it's a good place to store things. I have a friend who loves interior design and goes to places like thrift stores for some things if saving money is your thing. You'd be surprised how much a new paint job can change the look of a bookshelf or jewelry box. (Don't buy something that smells bad. You want your room to be comforting, not worrisome.) The important thing is that you get the most out of your space. Arrange everything in a way that is convenient and easy to clean up. Mirrors are another way to open it up to add the illusion of more space. I would also recommend looking into getting a desk. Homework goes a lot more smoothly when you have an area that has everything you need.

Bedroom designs Ideas. Teenage Girl.?

I am digging zebra print. I have a comforter picked out but I am open to new ideas. I also need some Inspiration. So if you leave a good answer I will be a fan :)

Answer
If you have a black and white zebra comforter picked out, you need to choose another color to accent with. Pink, orange, turquoise, lime, purple, red...all look good. Paint your walls a light shade of whatever color you choose then start adding that color around your room in accents like pillows, throws, area rugs, candles, flowers, art, and lamps. I wouldn't add too much more of the zebra print, just a little here and there, to keep the bed your focal point. Here are some
pics that might help you visualize better:
You could also paint your room brown like this one if you want a more serene room:

Somethings you might want to add:

http://www.target.com/Animal-Prints-Trimmer-Variety-Pack/dp/B001185VK4/sr=1-4/qid=1226236778/ref=sr_1_4/602-8295273-6848665?ie=UTF8&rh=k%3Aanimal%20prints&page=1
Find accent pillows and area rugs with just a little of the zebra print as a border on it, so as not to overwhelm the bed and use black or a very subtle black and white drapery.

Hope this helped. What you want to keep in mind, I think, is that too much zebra print wouldn't look good. If it's on the bed, use it sparingly around the room.

Teen Girl Bedroom Design Help?

Serena Jac

im a 13 turning 14 year old girl and i really need some bedroom designs. this is the first time i actually get to design my own room so i want to make it nice. my fav colors are red, white and black but since my room is in the basement i don't get any natural light and my mom thinks that those colors will be to dark(especially because my room is getting dark hardwood floors)...she wants me to have a neutral color in my room but i don't want my room to say "adult". if you have any cute AND neutral ideas that say teen and young adult, please go wild with whatever ideas you have. btw, i don't NEED my room colors to be red, white and black, those were just my first designs. make sure that the colors will go with dark hardwood floors though please. the best ideas will be chosen as winner. thanks to every one

Answer
You definitely need a light neutral earth tone, something in the cool blues or greens to reflect and bounce the lighting in your room, perfect with the red, black and white.
such as a light turquoise

Then pick out a bed in a bag, rug, wall decor/mirror, lighting, accents and accessories.

Bedroom color ideas for girl bedroom?

Sophia

So my room isn't the biggest, but it has high ceilings and a big window! Im a 17 year old girl and im very girly, but I dont know what colors i could use that would be girly but also not childish.. I want a more mature room but i still want it to be young and pretty! Right now two of my walls are dark purple and the other two are light purple! I was thinking of doing peach and pink, but idk! I dont like greens really! so please give me and ideas for color schemes!

Answer
Pick your bedding well before your paint colors.
Peach and pink a very little girl.
At 17, you most likely will move out soon so you want to keep the room as neutral as possible.
All white or white bedding with gray or taupe walls will give you that Feminine look you love so much.
Make sure you have enough lighting and finish up with live green plants. The more simple it is, the better off the room will look :http://www.houzz.com/photos/bedroom/taupe-walls-

2 and 3 are very nice. Both of which you could put zebra print in. one of my ideas is actually my 15 year old sisters bedroom theme-

Purple and Blue polka dots and zebra print with white and gold furnishings

very elegant, and it lasts, so you dont get bored with it in a year.

I need a teen girl bedroom design?

...

Can someone find me a website with different bedroom designs?? Or like comforters that are really funky??

The funkier the better!!

PS I like light greens, hot pinks, and turguoises.
what 3 colors go to gether yet still funky??

Answer
My 14 year old niece decorated her room in lime green, orange and aqua-blue. She has a lime green comforter with big orange and aqua-blue polka dots. She has cute matching throw pillows, and a lime green clock on her wall.

A fun idea you could try is to get 5-7 cheapy picture frames at the dollar store. Then get one bottle of craft paint in each of your three favorite colors (less than a dollar per bottle). Take the glass out of the frames and paint a couple frames with each color. Once the paint is dry, you can paint on polka dots, stripes, or squiggly lines in the other colors.

Another fun idea is to use some glittery nail polish or craft paint to paint the knobs on your dresser, and light switch and outlet plates.

Have fun!!

Toddler bedroom decor...?

Nanabanana

My daughter just moved to a "big girl" bed and so I went out and bought her a new bedspread and all white furniture. The comforter is bright pink, lime green, purple, orange and teal. I am trying to decide what color to paint the walls. I was thinking of doing a lighter green (like lime but lighter) and then doing a bright pink stripe around the room, or else painting the room a light teal with a purple stripe...does that sounds too "grown up" for a 2 year old? I want it to be a room she can grow into but I don't want the colors/design to be too much for her. What do you think? Any other cute decorating ideas? I hate just one color walls so I'm trying to use two colors to decorate...Thanks!

Answer
I think a soft lime green with a medium pink strip would be adorable! I don't think it would be too grown-up. It should serve her well into preteens, at least! Another idea for longevity in a kid's bedroom: paint the walls a solid color and then decorate them with the peel and stick "Wallies" or other precut images that can be adhered to the wall temporarily. You could put some flowers or butterflies on the wall now, and then when she gets older and wants something different, you could put polka dots or something geometric like that. Good luck!

Room design ideas? GIRLS!?

Hannah

im 14. have two ideas semi-beachy or classic fancy. what should i add and do to style my room? cost doesnt matter. I can do anything i want - paint included.

Answer
Hi Hannah, here are my ideas:

1) Start with an idea of colours and go from there. I always think clean white walls look god because they are modern and go with anything... then you add in some colours you like. Check out this room here with white walls: http://pinterest.com/pin/183099541069867772.

2) OR a black wall is kind of awesome too.... have a look at Designer's Guild black 'crayon' walls like in this tween room here: http://smallacornsnz.blogspot.co.nz/2012/02/tween-bedroom.html

2) If money doesn't matter, try one of these garlands on the wall from confetti system - they are super fun and would look great over a desk: http://pinterest.com/pin/183099541070428116/

3) Get a large or fun shaped mirror on one wall - this makes the room seem larger at the same time as decorating the wall. If you like the classic fancy look, how about something like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/183099541069860226/ or this:
http://pinterest.com/pin/183099541070008599/ (they still go with the modern look too)

4) Add some coloured and black accessories and - like a chandelier (you can get them from Ikea and Urban Outfitters - some are cool colours too) - and chevron print pillows.

4) Get some cheap white picture frames from ikea and make a gallery-wall with a mixture of pictures or posters. Some black & white photos would be cool too. Here's an idea of a gallery wall you could follow: http://pinterest.com/pin/183099541070939327/

Hope that helps!

Bedroom Design Ideas?

Star4597

I am 14 and I am getting my room redone this summer. My parents said before I can do anything, I need a design idea. If you could show me a design (or just any picture) of a bedroom that would be cool. I like purple colors and pretty shades of blue.

any ideas about paint colors, bed sheets, accessories, etc. are greatly appreciated (espescially with a picture!)

:)

Answer
This is a room by kenneth cole. The key to this room is the balance between white and purple. Make sure if all you can do it paint that you get the white molding in the middly it creates a nice balance and the purple wont feel so overwhelming. We did this in my baby girls bedroom with peach.

Painting Bedroom Ideas?

Lilly(:

I am a 16 year old girl... I was thinking about painting this tree in my bedroom. I know I can do it free hand. I am an experienced painter and I have confidence in myself. Take a look and tell me what you think..
http://dominomag.typepad.com/magazine__scrappy/images/tree_mural.jpg

Any other ideas to go with this tree? I think i am going to do it in this sagey green, just like in the photo. But I need an actual color scheme. What other colors would accent this weird shade of green?

Thanks.

-lillY

Answer
Girl that is beautiful! I'm a artist too, but I have to see what I need to
draw. My Imagination is not that creative. I put colors to the painting
and I think gold or badge or maybe a darker green. Just make sure
you keep the black in what ever else you decide to do. Personally my
husband thinks it's perfect and you don't need anything else with it.

Teen girl bedroom ideas?

Anna!

So I used to be such a tomboy and when I was 8, my room was super girly so I redid it and made it a sports theme. Now, I am almost 16 and I am really embarrassed whenever people come up to my room. I was going to ask my parents if I could redo my room as my 16th birthday present. I am trying to see if I can keep the same furniture so it doesnt cost like $5,000, but it's tan and just looks like a little kid's furniture (I've had it since I was a baby) What colors do you think would look best with it? I know, all colors go with tan but I just want to know what color would make it a little girlier and grown up. If my mom lets me, I was going to see if I could get new furniture and then I would get white furniture. I think pink or aqua walls would look really good. What do you think? Do you have any ideas for my room?
here's the duvet I was hoping to get: http://www.pbteen.com/products/suite-organic-duvet-cover-and-sham/?pkey=csolid-duvets
and then whatever color I wanted for the lines of the duvet, I would probably paint my walls that color. Do you have any ideas on the color? What color duvet, walls, curtains, and rug do you think I should do with either tan furniture or white furniture?
Sorry that's so long hahah but if you can help that would be great!
Thanks
Anna

Answer
Pink is too boring, i don't know...but Acqua's a very pretty color. I also suggest a light yellow. About the furniture, if your mother doesn't agree in buy new ones, ask her to take them to a craftsman to paint them, or just ask her to help you painting them. They will look like new! and depending on their models, they will can even look vintage, what's a classy and feminine touch.
Here, maybe this help:

Answer
Hey :)

Okay, I was just about to ask pretty much the same question :D Then I saw yours and thought I may as well answer it =)

Pink & Black ALWAYS look really well together =) Maybe do two walls pink (hot pink) and two walls black. It would look really mature but at the same time super girly :D (Like, two walls black oppistie each other, not beside. And then the same for pink. So it would be like Pink Black Pink black)

Yeah, pick a theme :) Maybe have loads of stuff hot pink (eg. cushions, duvet covers, curtains) so they would contrast against the black, and they would stand out. Black and white photos would look really deadly :D Do you like Marilyn Monroe ? Yeah if you do they have black and white paintings in Argos. http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/0053734/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14571899/c_2/2%7Ccat_14571899%7CPictures+and+photo+frames%7C14572322/c_3/3%7Ccat_14572322%7CPictures%7C14572325.htm
This would look really cool the pink wall too :) - http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/6235202/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14571899/c_2/2%7Ccat_14571899%7CPictures+and+photo+frames%7C14572322/c_3/3%7Ccat_14572322%7CPictures%7C14572325.htm

And then for storage stuff.... well it depends on what furniture you already have. If you get to choose the double bed (which you probably will) then I would go for something like this -
http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/6592419/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14571899/c_2/2%7Ccat_14571899%7CBeds%7C14572194/c_3/3%7Ccat_14572194%7CDouble+metal+beds%7C14572203.htm ... or something along those lines :)

If you want somewhere for your make-up then I would suggest like a shelf or something? Or if you like, then maybe a dresser. If you got shelves then put it/them at eye level and if they dont have a back then you could put a pretty mirror above and decorate it :) You could arrange your makeup all nice and pretty :D ..It would look nice =)

Okay I'm so sorry but I cant tell you any more because I have to go :(
I hope what I told you helped though :D

girl teen bedroom??????

smileyface

i want my room sorta dance themed-but not too much........i need some cool tideas and cheap ways to decorate. my walls are sort of a hot pink and my curtains and stuff have sea green, not bright but not dark blue, and purple. any help would be good. o-i have a TON of stuffed animals-wat to do with those?????? thanks!!

Answer
hmm dance themed

you can put lines of duck tape vertically or horizontally across your walls and paint it, leaving stripes on your walls that make it looks designed

you can also try painting circles of dark and light pink, big and small on corners of the wall to make them look like bubbles

you can get glow in the dark stickers for the ceiling and have them glow to get a night club dance feel

for the stuffed animals, put them in rows on a high shelf sticking out from the wall, maybe right above your bed
don't put too much ON your bed or it'll be messy

How to redecorate a small bedroom on a budget?

sara

I am a teenage girl and I fully redecorated my room 2 years ago, so I don't want to go all out this time. But I am looking for some small cheap ways to spruce up my bedroom. I am already saving up for a new comforter set. It's $40 and I'm hoping it's the most expensive thing I'll end up buying. So does anybody have any ideas of ways to inexpensively semi-redecorate my bedroom? Keeping in mind that I can't rearrange my furniture because my room is set up so that the only arrangement that works is the way I currently have it.

Answer

Tropical bedroom ideas?

Maria

I'm redecorating my bedroom, finally, and I'm looking for something more tropical. I would love for ideas for paint, accessories, bedding, anything. I'm mid-twenties, so I don't want something that would make my bedroom look like a teenage girls room. I have two smaller alcoves in my bedroom as well, and if you have any ideas for those as well that would be great! I would like something that would instantly feel like you just walked into the state of Hawaii! ;)

Thank you in advance! =)

Answer
Hi - to get some ideas have a look at these websites and pick out stuff that you like :)

I think the picture below looks nice and not too 'over the top'. They have used a large tropical themed wall decal :) And... the idea of the curtain in front makes it look as though you can actually see that view out of a window - great idea :)

How can i have a beautiful bedroom for a low budget?!?!?

Danielle

Ok, so here's the situation, I am moving soon to a beautiful cottage in the countryside and i want to have a perfect bedroom for a low budget.
It's a double room but will only have a single bed in it, so i can have lots of room :)

So i want my room to be flower themed. I cant paint the walls as its rented so i was my room to look bright and colourful.
I don't want to have all real flowers because it would cost too much in the long run, but i will probably have a few vases of flowers here and there to make it smell nice :P
So any links or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
So links for colourful cheap vases?
Links for ways to make my room colourful for a low price?
Links for ways to make my room feel cosey?

Im from the UK so no USA links please.

Thankkkkkkkkkks

OOOh also could you also talk about colours the flowers could be to compliment each other?

Answer
you could buy some cheap furniture or buy some very cheap tools and make some furniture that i easy to make i am gonna have my room too ^_^!!!!!!! Good luck with that!!!

Anyone have any bedroom ideas?

Jomahomi

Me and a friend are designing my bedroom but we have a budget of £10,000 (It's a challenge by the way I don't actually have the money) The bedroom is 10 meters by 12 meters. We really want to beat the other team. Thanks for the help!! :) :)

Answer
chic is the theme? ok I'll help
first you go with the little dark or light colors. bedroom, when we say that we should have playful colors but it isn't the colors that hurt your eyes a lot. you should use the colors lavender, pinkish, baby blue, sky blue, dark brown, lime green for your walls

second, the furniture! a four-poster bed or water bed may help. what do you think makes you more comfortable the most? choose the colors, for instance: if you used the dark brown for the walls, then lighten it up with white or black! it depends on what you like

have 2-3 chairs just a little chairs not so big and small table.
put lampshades and one window with a beautiful view, beside or by side your bed.

the most important is use your imagination to make it more comfy, nice, and artistic and attractive! good luck hon! and take note of the colors and their contrast!

dorm room decorating?

Kammie

my colors are black white and pink. and i have a single room, so i dont have to worry about what a roomate thinks. what are some inexpesive cute things i can do to decorate my room? so far i have two small posters.

Answer
I just re-did my bedroom in my house black white and pink! What a great idea! I am helplessly in love with old Hollywood movie stars, so I painted my room "the cats meow" Its a very light but beautiful pink the trim is white and I ordered pictures off allposters.com. I ordered Black and White vintage posters of Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. I framed them in BLACK frames. I also went to target and bought a few black candleabras (those kind of gothic looking candle stick holders) I also bought a bunch of those flamelss candles and scattered them around the room. I went with a black and white polka dot comforter which was pretty cheap from Target as well.

I also got a lot of my photos converted into black and white and framed them as well. Also, you can buy "quotes" that stick to your wall (but come off very easily) I bought one that says, "Always kiss me goodnight" in black above my bedframe. I bought a black and white light fixture from TJ Maxx-- you wouldn't believe the amazing things they have for so cheap.

Ikea has really nice mirrors, too. I bought a lenth ways mirror that has light pink polka dots on it. They have really nice black fixtures, too!!

Lastly, you shud buy a black and white checkered rug for the center of your room...that will be the cherry on top of the sundae.

Have fun with it! Your dorm will look great! and good luck in school!

bedroom designs for a teenage girl?

Aoife

any good ideas?????????
thanx

Answer
If your parents let you covering walls in posters and pictures from magazines is always fun and looks good!
I am 17 and I have decorated my room over time with things I find around that I love I was kind of aiming for a bedroom like Juno's in the movie 'Juno' but its ended up different as it evolved with my own personal style its now a collection of things I love!

Here are some photos of Juno's room:

It's a really individual style and that's what I love about it! It's her in a bedroom design :)

If you are the complete opposite in what you like in bedroom designs, you could look at ones like Miley Cyrus'

Answer
You definitely need a light neutral earth tone, something in the cool blues or greens to reflect and bounce the lighting in your room, perfect with the red, black and white.
such as a light turquoise

brown and cream bedroom ideas anyone?

ic96

I've looked EVERYWHERE for bedroom ideas for a Brown and Cream bedroom colour. My room is pretty small. I have no idea how to place things into my room and where to place it. My computer also has to be in my room is occupies more space. I only have a bed and this desk/shelf type of thing: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/20116071 but in walnut effect colour. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to place furniture and stuff in my room for example "you should place the bed on the brown side of the wall and beside it should be....etc" P.s also tell me which furniture i should buy. THANK you so much,

^This is exactly how my bedroom looks like but the wall on the left is more of a cream colour.

I really love brown and cream walls, and they really look good in small-ish rooms. So that was a good place to start. I think a brown theme would go well, especially if you already have a walnut-ty type desk, which, I can imagine, must be beautiful! So I think you should build off that, if you want to have a bit of a themed room, and for everything to match. You could have really cool little bedside tables, I'd advise just browsing through google images, some of the furniture there is really inspiring, with a lot of unconventional style type stuff, which is really cool! You can find a lot of new modern walnut wood furniture, but you might find that sort of shabby-chic furnitures really work well, so you may have to hunt around garage sales, and the like. You can find some really cool stuff there!

Bedding like this:

would really compliment your walls, the brown is really beautiful, and the bedding/pillows tie in both the creams and browns of your walls! The layered effect, of lots of pillows with lots of different textures but the same sort of tones can only really work in certain situations with specific colours, as sometimes the whole room can just look too busy! However, in this case, with the somewhat neutral colour scheme, it really works, so you should take advantage of this!

If you have the room, you could also have just one nice chair in your room, which has similar woods, but a really cool antiquey fabric on thes seat, which would really go with this theme I'm (trying to!) describe, which not only could you use as just a statement piece, but also as a chair for your desk/computer. However, these sort of furnitures are not only expensive, but really really hard to find, so these are just suggestions, of course, and you can really do anything!

Instead of doing this antiquey style room, which admittedly would be really hard to pull off, and very expensive (well, a girl can dream! ), it might be easier for you to do just really clean edges, take the same style wood colour of your desk, and just use that as a base for your whole room. If it doesn't really match your bed, that doesn't matter, because the bed is kind of an individual, unique piece in the room, which is supposed to be the focus point, because of the bold statements in colours, textures, fabrics, etc. Some colours which could look really nice in your room as accents, on the bedding or the pillows, or whatever, could possibly be really soft blues, probably not harsh blues as they might clash with the creams. Or, you could do really dark blues, like navy, and then compliment that with really really pale blue, in a floral print maybe?! That would also look very good. The whole brown colour concept is excellent, as it goes with pretty much everything, but they especially compliment blues...

For the issue of where to place your bed, I would say on the brown wall, or one of them at least, because the brown is kind of like the 'feature wall', so that's where your eye is drawn to, so it's good when the bed's there too. You should do bedside tables, if your bed isn't in the corner of the room, I would make sure to do two bedside tables on each side, to create symmetry in the room, plus they don't take up that much space, which is good. The other thing with room layout is that you don't necessarily want to mix your 'relax' area with your 'work' area, so having your computer in your room probably isn't the most ideal, but it doesn't really matter, just maybe you should define which area in your room is which, I mean, I realise that your room probably isn't the biggest room in the world, but what I'm just saying is probably don't place it right next to your bed.

Also potentially having some plants in your room could look really nice, create a nice atmosphere, and maybe make your room look bigger.

In saying this, I really have no idea what shape your room is, or what lighting you have, or the actual colour of your room, so this advice could be all completely wrong! It would be easier if we could see pictures of your room, but it doesn't really matter, you can choose to use my advice, or dismiss it as crap! There are so many potential combinations which could look great in your room, I'm sure you'll be able to work something out if need be. Good luck, hope this helped! =)

Ideas for a film in a old farm house?

Alice

So, my town has this old house that might be torn down soon (at least thats what I hear). Its a beautiful, old farm house. I want to do a short film (10 min. to 30 min.) in it. Preferably horror, but I'm not picky. I have the resource of actors from the ages of 14-18. Most shooting would be inside, unless at night. Any ideas to start me off? I am completely lost. I want to make a film here so bad, but can't think of a thing.

Heres what it looks like:
Unfurnished, abandoned. The kitchen's floor is completely torn out, revealing about a foot to the dirt ground of under the house. Most of the windows are broken. the bathroom is filthy and small, but super classy. The washroom is creepy. Two small downstairs bedrooms, both with closets. The upstairs has a small bedroom and a master with a creepy, tiny door in the corner that leads to the attic, both have closets. The upstairs also has a creepy, attic-like room. Dark, unstable, probably don't want to use it much. Holes on the walls all the way up the stairs.

Here's my idea, the biggest problem is the ages of the characters (but since there are only three characters you might be able to work around this)

Rich, Wall St. type white male is driving down a deserted country road after visiting his dying mother. His business is being investigated, he's facing criminal charges, and he's on the phone trying to straighten things out while racing back to civilization as fast as his sports car will go. Of course, cell phones and driving do not mix, he loses control and totals the car and his phone. With no way to contact help, one leg broken, and an approaching thunderstorm he spies an abandoned farm house. Dragging himself inside, he collapses on the floor.

Later that night, as the rain has picked up to near tornado force, a wet, obviously homeless African American stumbles into the farmhouse. The two start conversing; however, the Wall St. guy is obviously terrified.

The black homeless guy is perceptive enough to notice this and, in a manner reminiscent of the whisky priest's encounter with the mestizo in Graham Greene's _The Power and the Glory_, he calls the richer man out on his discomfort.
At the same time, the homeless guy begins to recognize the white guy; the corporate embezzlement case has been big news for a while, and the white guy has had his picture in the paper. Vaguely aware of the hypocrisy of a white collar thief's prejudice and fear of a potential thief, the white guy gets more and more upset; afraid that the black guy will connect his face to the embezzlement story.
As this is going on, it gets later and later and it becomes apparent that the white guy does not plan on going to sleep before the black guy. The black guy, in his menacingly open style, points this out. Left with little choice, the white guy goes to sleep.
Much later that night, he is woken up. Panicked, he pretends to be asleep and looks around. Between flashes of lightning, he notices the black guy approaching him slowly. Fearing imminent death, he catches a glimpse of salvation lying at his side in the form of a rusty crowbar. When the black guy enters striking distance, the white guy attacks him with the crowbar and smashes his head in.

He tries to sleep, but the presence of the body distracts him. while trying to remove the body, a notepad and cellphone fall out of the pockets. Using the light from a flashlight he found in his car trunk, he reads the notes, and discovers that the black man was in fact a journalist/author investigating life as a homeless man in rural America. Next, he checks the phone and discovers that the last call made was 911. It is now almost dawn and, hobbling outside, he is confronted by a sheriff. Last line is "we got your call last night... would have come out here sooner but the storm washed out half the road..."
