Tropical bedroom ideas?

Maria

I'm redecorating my bedroom, finally, and I'm looking for something more tropical. I would love for ideas for paint, accessories, bedding, anything. I'm mid-twenties, so I don't want something that would make my bedroom look like a teenage girls room. I have two smaller alcoves in my bedroom as well, and if you have any ideas for those as well that would be great! I would like something that would instantly feel like you just walked into the state of Hawaii! ;)

Thank you in advance! =)

Answer
Hi - to get some ideas have a look at these websites and pick out stuff that you like :)

I think the picture below looks nice and not too 'over the top'. They have used a large tropical themed wall decal :) And... the idea of the curtain in front makes it look as though you can actually see that view out of a window - great idea :)

Bedroom Decoration Ideas.?

Laura R

Hey, im a 13yr old girl and im getting my room redecorated soon. i want something that will last me a while. im not realy girly. my room is quite big but not massive. also i might be having a shower in one of the corners. i was thing about like white walls and then one stripey one but im not sure, i like bright colors. Any color ideas? dont give me american websites because i live in the UK Thanks x

Answer
A feature wall like you describe is really modern and will make a room last from teenage years through to leaving home.
Here are ideas of colours

Green- teal/ jade etc. This goes well with white and you can easily find accessories such as lamps, bedding to match.

Yellow- Again this is longlasting and would look nice.

Lilac- Not too girly but grown up. Goes well with creams and beiges.

Brown- Sounds unsual but definitely coming into fashion. Mix with greens, pale pinks or cream/ white to get a nice look.

Blue- Different shades of blue would look nice.

If you are quite artistic you could do an interesting abstract design on one wall. If you've ever watched The Hits channel, they used to have a scene where the TV was turned on and flowers and shapes appeared on the walls. You could do that kind of thing if you know what I mean.

Canvas paintings are really big now. Again, if you're artistic you can buy various sizes from shops like Hobbycraft and some acrylic paints and brushes and design it yourself. Go for that modern abstract theme and do shapes and patterns in simple, block colours.

You could go very neutral and have white then accessorise with lamps, bedding boxes etc.
You could add patterns such as stripes, spots etc.

How to decorate a teenage girl's bedroom?

I want the theme to be "love" but I want to limit the pink because I ain't that girly. Right now, I am saving money to buy paint, but for now the walls are white. My bedspread is plain brown, i have one white dresser, and two brown desks in my room. I want to paint my room a deep red and pink border. I want to know some cheap ways to fix the theme, like i made a tissue paper flower, hung it on my wall, then cut out constuction letters and wrote in big letters "love". Any other ideas? REALLY IMPORTANT. What color curtains/bedspread/doilies should I have? And I have a lamp, what should I draw on it, just hearts? and Any other cheap things I can use/make to enhance the theme? Please and Thank you.

How do you decorate a small, one bedroom apartment without it looking too cluttered?

GeorgiaBea

I will be moving to a small, one bedroom apartment and I have no idea how to decorate it! I have a queen size bed and it seems like it is the only thing that can fit in the bedroom but I was told a king size bed would fit. It has a fireplace and small dining are as well. Please help!!!
I want to use portraits to create a theme for my apartment but I can't decide on one. Please help!

Answer
CLASSY... a few JUST a FEW small but CLASSY touches and pieces of furniture.

Like a wrap around couch, and small end table in the living room.. a SMALL glass topped table in the dining with only a couple of chairs. AND fresh flowers. Sounds great actually.

I'm all about only using one or two classy pieces.

A beautiful bedroom throw on the bed, a couple of fake fur rugs and VOILA...

I loved seeing your avi and seeing the classy fedora.. That just fits the picture.

brown and cream bedroom ideas anyone?

ic96

I've looked EVERYWHERE for bedroom ideas for a Brown and Cream bedroom colour. My room is pretty small. I have no idea how to place things into my room and where to place it. My computer also has to be in my room is occupies more space. I only have a bed and this desk/shelf type of thing: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/20116071 but in walnut effect colour. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to place furniture and stuff in my room for example "you should place the bed on the brown side of the wall and beside it should be....etc" P.s also tell me which furniture i should buy. THANK you so much,
http://us.mydeco.com/rooms/detail/my-room-1038829/

^This is exactly how my bedroom looks like but the wall on the left is more of a cream colour.

Answer
I really love brown and cream walls, and they really look good in small-ish rooms. So that was a good place to start. I think a brown theme would go well, especially if you already have a walnut-ty type desk, which, I can imagine, must be beautiful! So I think you should build off that, if you want to have a bit of a themed room, and for everything to match. You could have really cool little bedside tables, I'd advise just browsing through google images, some of the furniture there is really inspiring, with a lot of unconventional style type stuff, which is really cool! You can find a lot of new modern walnut wood furniture, but you might find that sort of shabby-chic furnitures really work well, so you may have to hunt around garage sales, and the like. You can find some really cool stuff there!

Bedding like this:
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.100-mile-house-log-homes.com/bedding-sets-comforters.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.100-mile-house-log-homes.com/bedding-set.html&usg=__sVbEKQogL9vvkRfFxi1rEdb6Ido=&h=336&w=336&sz=91&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=enwOkwjKAqp_jM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbedding%2Bsets%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1676%26bih%3D856%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=415&vpy=96&dur=3052&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=131&ty=96&ei=vPBoTM_XI432swPtkoDmBQ&oei=vPBoTM_XI432swPtkoDmBQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=48&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0
would really compliment your walls, the brown is really beautiful, and the bedding/pillows tie in both the creams and browns of your walls! The layered effect, of lots of pillows with lots of different textures but the same sort of tones can only really work in certain situations with specific colours, as sometimes the whole room can just look too busy! However, in this case, with the somewhat neutral colour scheme, it really works, so you should take advantage of this!

If you have the room, you could also have just one nice chair in your room, which has similar woods, but a really cool antiquey fabric on thes seat, which would really go with this theme I'm (trying to!) describe, which not only could you use as just a statement piece, but also as a chair for your desk/computer. However, these sort of furnitures are not only expensive, but really really hard to find, so these are just suggestions, of course, and you can really do anything!

Instead of doing this antiquey style room, which admittedly would be really hard to pull off, and very expensive (well, a girl can dream! ), it might be easier for you to do just really clean edges, take the same style wood colour of your desk, and just use that as a base for your whole room. If it doesn't really match your bed, that doesn't matter, because the bed is kind of an individual, unique piece in the room, which is supposed to be the focus point, because of the bold statements in colours, textures, fabrics, etc. Some colours which could look really nice in your room as accents, on the bedding or the pillows, or whatever, could possibly be really soft blues, probably not harsh blues as they might clash with the creams. Or, you could do really dark blues, like navy, and then compliment that with really really pale blue, in a floral print maybe?! That would also look very good. The whole brown colour concept is excellent, as it goes with pretty much everything, but they especially compliment blues...

For the issue of where to place your bed, I would say on the brown wall, or one of them at least, because the brown is kind of like the 'feature wall', so that's where your eye is drawn to, so it's good when the bed's there too. You should do bedside tables, if your bed isn't in the corner of the room, I would make sure to do two bedside tables on each side, to create symmetry in the room, plus they don't take up that much space, which is good. The other thing with room layout is that you don't necessarily want to mix your 'relax' area with your 'work' area, so having your computer in your room probably isn't the most ideal, but it doesn't really matter, just maybe you should define which area in your room is which, I mean, I realise that your room probably isn't the biggest room in the world, but what I'm just saying is probably don't place it right next to your bed.

Also potentially having some plants in your room could look really nice, create a nice atmosphere, and maybe make your room look bigger.

In saying this, I really have no idea what shape your room is, or what lighting you have, or the actual colour of your room, so this advice could be all completely wrong! It would be easier if we could see pictures of your room, but it doesn't really matter, you can choose to use my advice, or dismiss it as crap! There are so many potential combinations which could look great in your room, I'm sure you'll be able to work something out if need be. Good luck, hope this helped! =)

I need ideas for coffee tables?

MariChelit

I'm getting ready to move into our first home and I really want to give my house personality. We have a great color scheme picked out throughout the house already, and I already have a living room set. What I want now is ideas for DIY end tables and a coffee table. I want something with personality, character. i dont want to spend $200 on standard tables that are made by the hundreds. I want something unique.

Our living room will be an eggshell/toupe color
http://cdn.decorpad.com/photos/2008/05/20/8cbceb7f5d78.jpg
with one accent wall in a chocolate color with a wall stencil design throughout.
http://st.houzz.com/simages/30412_0_8-2146-traditional-bedroom.jpg
our sofa set is a chocolate brown color with pillow backs kind of like the one in this picture:
http://www.morfurniture.com/c_detail.aspx?ID=596&CatID=28&Group=10

besides the living room set that we already own and the colors that we picked for the living room, we dont have any other design element or idea for the living room so for the coffee tables and side tables anything goes.

Give me any all ideas you may have for DIY coffee tables and end tables. I'm willing to make my own, redesign something found at a thrift shop or garage sale, anything. But I'm having a creativity block and I cant think up any ideas.

I want to know how to have a relaxing room for my new house? Please give me some ideas!

Whites and blues are traditional beach colors. These two examples are a bit different.
Use a lot of whites and add texture in the room.Have beautiful glass jars filled with shells or star fish .
For simple artwork, there are a few more posters like these at all posters.Frame them and hang them on the walls :http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Sea-Fan-Posters_i2687240_.htm

Add fresh plants and have enough lighting.

Bedroom design ideas for a teenage girl?

BasicBrune

I am moving at the end of the month and I get to do my room over, I love the color purple and would like to paint my walls that color but I need some ideas what could I put on the wall. I'm putting some pictures up of my friends and family and hopefully white Christmas lights. If you have any ideas please let me know! Thanks.

Answer
purple is a great color but you want a bright purple verses a dark purple

I think I would put some paint clip colors on the wall and you could look at different colors in the light and dark...you can get the free color paint strips at lowes or home depot..on of them have the Disney colors which give you the accent colors and that makes it easy

you need a wall color and then I would keep the ceiling and baseboards white to not close in the room

less is best, so it is clean

enlarged photos 8x10 framed in black and using black as an accent color would look sharp mature and perfect in any décor color later

but pets and family and friends all could be a wall

a wall with framed certificates you earned

no poster they make the room look cheap

a bed a night stand and lamp and desk and extra lighting..

around the desk a memo board and calendar...

no dresser they take up to much space and hold junk..hang everything in the closet and use baskets on a shelf..

a fake ficus tree with little lights and a timer work well for always having lights on when you come in at dark

a starburst chain is fun to make and looks cool draped on the tree or around your room

origami balloons over the lights

Bedroom Ideas, Teenage girl!?

Q. I am redoing my room and I am getting a new bed. I can't decide what type of frame to get. I have a couple hundred dollars to spend so I was thinking something from walmart or target. I am 16 years old and a little bit of a girly girl. Right now I have a black faux leather frame and it's just too boring for me. I was thinking a metal canopy bed would be cute, with a colorful comforter. With a dark wood dresser and night stand. Also, I am looking for a cheap vanity desk, modern but cute. Pictures with your guy's ideas would be amazing. I have a few hundred dollars to spend, but the cheapest of things would be better. Thanks in advance!
Thanks..you were a big help............pft.
You really helped! I love your room. You gave me a whole new idea. I really like the white and silver in your room. I am now looking for a white dresser, a little desk like yours with a mirror so I can sit down and do my makeup and a silver framed bed. Thank you so much :)

Answer
When I was 15 I went through the stage of completely re-designing my room and I'm so glad I did because I love my room! First I chose the theme I'd be going for which is really girly! So I painted three of my walls purple and added purple hearts as a border in the middle of each wall horizontally, and then one wall hot pink with black stencils ontop, it made my room so much more brighter! I then decorated most things in pink and purple to match the walls.. and having the furniture either white or silver to break away from all the colours. The paint was cheap for my walls, one large can of purple, one large can of hot pink and one small can of black. I got one of my family members to paint my walls and then my mother stenciled black patterns onto one of my walls so there was no cost in hiring a painter to paint my room!

I then bought new bed sheets and pillows in bright colours to make my room really bright and girly, and accessorised mainly in pink, purple and bright colours. Things like candles are cheap and look really good in your room, also a bonus that they smell really nice!

With your old furniture, you can still change it for a cheap price. What I did was kept my dressing table with the mirrow attatched but simply removed the original knobs that were on each drawer and bought silver round knobs which matched my bed, that was a great idea to do instead of the ugly little girl floral knobs I had on it originally!

Accesories with picture frames of your heroes or singers/actors that you like, and a few with your friends of course! All you will be paying for is a new bed, paint, new bed sheets and pillows, few candles and picture frames and you should be set!

Here's some photos of my room for inspiration and ideas, enjoy!

little girl bedroom design?

xStrandedO

I need some ideas for my little girls bedroom - anything you got will do either websites or oral explanation will work :P

Answer
When you start decorating a girl's room, you should involve her in the design choices. Teen-aged girls will probably have some design ideas before you start the project and even preschool girls will have opinions on the things that will make their bedrooms special.
One of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to change a decorating scheme is to change the colors you use in a room. Fresh paint livens the room and can change the character of a space quickly. You can start from a nice pastel pink color and add details in darker hues.Another common girls room color would be light blue.
Unlike more formal living space in your home, when you are decorating a girl's room you can have a lot of fun with the art and accessories. Even better, you do not have to spend a lot of money to have great artwork on a girl's walls.

* Framed posters: Most girls are perfectly content with framed posters of their favorite characters, animals or themes. Posters are available at local art stores, frame shops and online for very reasonable prices.
* Book art: Does your daughter have a favorite illustrator or artist? Buy an extra copy of a book with her favorite art and carefully use an Exacto knife to cut out pages. Matte and frame them for quick artwork.
* Other sources: Art is everywhere. You can frame a beautiful piece of wrapping paper, a lovely textile or greeting cards for instant artwork to hang on a girl's wall.
* Make your own art: Use shadow boxes to make art out of your daughter's favorite momentos or frame her paintings or sketches to personalize her room. Make a collage of her favorite images or embroider a custom wall hanging.

14 year old girl, quite girly but not in a 'everything i own has to be pink and sparkly' kind of way, just looking to add a little more interest to my room

Answer
For a 14 year old girl, you can put up your interior with some stars attached and also some interesting books kept on table and you can also club it up with lots of teddy bears and beautiful dresses in your wardrobe. This is how your room will look super awesome.

Painting a small room to be an office space?

ashleyyy

Right now it's a lime green. Is a small bedroom that I'm planning on turning into an office space. I want something calming but not a pastel, but I don't want it to be so dark that it makes the room smaller. It doesn't have the best lighting. I was thinking a taupe or a medium grey with blue undertones. Any ideas?

Answer
We painted a small room in a lighter shade of milk chocolate with white wood trim. I thought it would look smaller but it really doesn't. You can accent with any color -- red, blue, or an entire accent wall in a lighter color or even mirrors if your budget allows. Good luck, I hope it looks beautiful regardless of your color choice!

Answer
Looking for fresh design ideas for pretentious and stylish teenage girls? In this post we will try to give a hand. For today weâve gathered together a set of 25 pictures which represent young girlsâ rooms. We tried to do a various selection: we went with some serious and sober interiors, but we also gave a shot to the familiar and very popular pink, orange and red arrangements. All of the rooms are practical, featuring working spaces, small bookcases or shelving systems for books and Cds and beautiful cabinets especially designed for teenage girls. Last but not least, we consider the mirror to be a mandatory item in any girlâs bedroom, so in some of the photos below you will notice they have a special status. Even though not all the room design ideas have a particular theme, the decorating elements are very well interconnected creating interiors that are both functional and aesthetic.

To brighten your room and make it appear larger hang your mirror anywhere on the wall opposite of the window and arrange your furniture in separate areas and decorate in each space. For a girly touch drape a lighted feather lei over your mirror.

Teen Girl Bedroom Design?

kenzi.

We're getting a vacation house this year, so I need to design my room. I kind of have an idea..but I kind of don't. The rooms aren't going to be huge, so this is what I have.
I'm thinking either a daybed (really cute and not very expensive) or maybe a loft bed (also cute, more space for storage, etc.) Either will work. I'm thirteen, and my favorite color is blue. I like being modern and fashionable not like cute, little girl rooms. I don't want the whole thing blue. So the room is most likely going to be a small to medium sqaure room. Could you pick me out a cute daybed, or loftbed (on a website like Ikea, I don't just want pictures..It must be able to be purchased!), A comforter, a dresser, a chair, end table, lamp, and some room accesories will win you the best answer. All ideas are apreciated. Thanks so much!

bedroom design for teenage girl?

Q. going to be 16 in august. it is a medium sized room, with a single bed, cream carpet, and pale pink walls. these cannot be altered. at the moment most of the walls are covered in magazine cuttings and photos. how can i make it look more grown up? its quite cluttered, and looks messy and quite horrible!
oh, and i have a biiiiig bay (i think thats the word) window.

Answer
Have you damaged the walls with tape or anything that holds up the magazine clippings? If not, take them all down and put them in a scrapbook (or throw them away), except for your three favorites.

Here's the important part if you want a nice looking room: Pick an "inspiration piece" and use those colors or that motif in the rest of the room. If you have to stick with your current comforter, you might use the colors in that as your jumping off point.

Pick ONE color that appears most in your inspiration piece OTHER than pink. Buy a few pieces of posterboard in that color to use for cheap mattes and put no more than three of your favorite pictures, magazine clippings, or whatever centered attractively on the mattes. (Cut them to the sizes you need.) Arrange those on your walls and you'll have a whole new, much more grown-up look, and still keep your favorite things displayed.

Go through the clutter and make some tough decisions about what you can't use/wear or don't want any more and get rid of it - either donate it to a charity or have a yard sale - you'll feel so much better with the clutter gone!

If you still need additional storage after you've narrowed down your things, get some under-the-bed storage boxes so it won't be able to take over your room.

Last, but not least, follow the "one in, one out" rule - if you bring something new IN, you have to toss something old OUT. Best of luck!

okay. so I'm moving soon. like tommarrow! Yeah. And I'm freaking out. I still haven't decided how I want my bedroom. I'm a 15 year old girl. I've had a few ideas but I still really can't decide on what I want.

1st idea was cream walls, black trim and border. we have dark wood floors. a black shaggy rug. King sized bed. above my bed would paint a black dream catcher. maybe throw in a white vanity table, with some white side tables and a canopy?

2nd idea was 2 walls would be either pink or like a purplish color. the other two walls would be a grey. and paint a chandelier on the wall instead of a dreamcatcher? An get a white shaggy rug instead of balck. keep the white vanity table and white shelfs.

3rd idea was like a fairytale bedroom. pale pink walls. silver canopy. silver bed frame. Silver Lacey curtains. glittery silver bedskirt. ?? still not too sure about this one. still trying to think about all the details.

soo what do you think? what ideas do you like the best? or do you have any other ideas? Please. Anything is helpful (:

Thanks in advance,
Carson

Answer
Well there Carson, I'm 15 as well and I LOVE to interior design, especially bedrooms, teens, you know, so anyways...It sounds to me like you like pink, but don't wanna go all out pink...so...If you were to go with a lighter shade of grey for the walls, and a black border, then a paler, but not too pale pink for the bed spread, comforter, or whatever and take black and make a beautiful like oldish looking, but you know those pretty trees they have on a lot of graphic tees, and paint that above your bed...then go with a white shaggy rug, black would work just as well....could go with a white or black shelves and vanity, but do you see the theme I'm workin at here....a couple really textureful pillows and.......walla, you will have created a master piece!!! :D I hope everything works out for you!!! And hope this helped!!! Im glad I got to help give design advice....Ohhh...and always go with your gut, while designing something, it never hurts to try cause it can always be changed....Thanks for asking for help...I enjoyed helping someone who I would now consider a friend!!! :) And let me know how everything works out for ya! ok so I am 13 years old going on to 14 in august...em anyway, I just got my own room, and right now it looks so boring and simple, so I not girlish and im more like a rocker skater tomboy girl...I really like music and I like sports, um art, acting, cooking, im into a lot of things, anyway, I need help finding a theme for my bedroom and I need like do it yourself ideas that I can do, I dont like to waist my money, but i really enjoy doing art projects and its summer so I have lots of time! soo please give me ideas!! 10 points best answer! I would like help!!!
I also live close to the beach, I dont live in the US..I actually live in Acapulco, MX...I just moved here in September, and I kinda want to make it a like american room...not with the american colors but I hope you guys know what I mean!!
and my room is small, its not to big...

Answer
My children are all adults now, but a few cool ideas are:

Painting is the 1st thing you do. Painting is fast and really changes a room. Plus you can change it as often as you want! A quart of paint will cover at least one wall, maybe 2 walls. Painting does not cost very much. Pick two colors you really like and go for it! Anyone can do it.

Putting CD's (or the cases) on the wall is fun. On one wall, I would put straight pins (like used in sewing) in the wall randomly all over the place, then hang a CD on each one. It is also a fun way to store them for easy access. The reason I say straight pins is that they leave almost no mark on the wall when you take them out. (You can get a box of 100 pins for about a dollar).

You can hang anything you are into at the moment on the wall the same way as the CD's. Some ideas of things to hang are:

Boardgames (the empty boxes).
Tee-shirts (that have music groups or places or concerts that you like on them) tack them up with pins.
Skating equiptment ( if you are into skateboarding, hang old skateboards, )
On your wall hang a lot of empty picture frames (with no glass or anything). It looks cool if you have a lot of different sizes and you paint them all different colors. Then after you tack them up, pin little objects in the center of them, like things from the beach, sea shells, a movie tickets, a key chain, a dollar bill ...anything that means something to you or you think is hot.

As for pictures of people (friends, family, movie stars etc) cut them out and attach them like a border around your closet or door or even your window.

Have a solid color bedspread or bed cover so that the room does not feel too busy or cluttered.

Paint your dresser. Wash out some glass jars, different sizes and fill them with things. For example, if you fill one with sand you could use it to put a candle in, or stick pencils in. Another jar can be all shells, or coins or fresh flowers or anything you want to collect. You could set about 4 or 5 of these jars next to each other.

Get a cute lamp. Find something you can use for a table next to your bed. It can be anything, and then cover it with a small table cloth. Remember, if you have a print on your sheet set, you can always buy a spare sheet or pillowcase to use as fabric to decorate other things in your room so they will match.
Good Luck Sweetie and always ask your parents before you do any of these things k.

help with ideas for redoing my bedroom? (teen girl)?

michelle

i love bright colors. and i love having little sayings or words up to encourage. i am thinking about going with kind of a teal color for my room. but i need new bed spread and other ideas on how to decorate my walls. i have a hardwood floor so something that could go with that would be awesome! i love to dance. pictures and links would be amazing! thanks so much!

Answer
1] first, choose comforter/quilt/bedspread you love - buy any matching items [ shams, bedskirt, pillows, curtains ] at same time
2] THEN choose a wall color that matches, complements, or contrasts
3] could do sayings/words:
a] as a border around top of walls
b] as 'frame' for window if you don't use curtains [ shades or blinds instead ], or 'frame' for closet
c] on closet doors
d] calligraphy on parchment paper, framed - peace, hope, joy, love
e] printed or embroidered on decortative pillows
4] dance:
a] mirrored closet doors
b] exercise barre on one wall
c] pointe/ballet.jazz/etc shoes on wall [ real or painted ]
d] framd pics of great dancers/great moves
e] hardwood floor is perfect for a dance room!

Bedroom..?

wakeupcall

okay my friend wants to redo her bedroom. she wants to do a marilyn monroe theme..what ideas do u have? and also i am redoing my bedroom too and i painted it light green. what kind of accersories and stuff should i do? all my furniture is white!?
I have wood floors and she has blue carpet. we both have one window. i kinda wanna go vintage too. what accent color(s)??
This is our furniture: me: bed, desk, bedside table, dresser, bookcase
friend: bed, dresser, bedside table, dresser

Answer
well for you if you have chairs or that kind of thing in your room slip covers are cheap and you can add beautiful accents to your room also brightly colored candles on say a white shelf posted on a wall (like a purple candle) would give it a very nice pop.

as for your friend id say paint one wall black it may seem drastic at first but there are so many things you can do to a black wall add shelves or purchase a huge poster of marilyn monroe and get it framed for cheap at walmart (make sure the poster is mostly white so it jumps out at you and doesnt blend it) and put it on the black wall.

for both of you i do not know if you have windows but flashy curtains add SO MUCHpersonality to a room its ridiculous. try that.

carpets carpets carpets....accent rugs are great and you can find cheap deals at bed bath and beyond when they do clearances or even pier one or even walmart...walmarts great haha anyway hope it helps.

What bedroom-style is good for a 16 year old teenager girl?

ttlyditzyb

My niece is 16 & she has grown out of her old childhood bedroom.
She really likes the bedrooms from the show "Divine Design" & would love to have a similar style as her rooms.
I also need help to find a good website to use to find furniture, rugs & lighting for her room.
Thank you! I need all the help i can get

Answer
i love that show divine design and be and your niece are the same age and probably have similar styles so you could try creamy beige walls and one brown wall that the bed is sitting on and have her bedspread a white color and have colored sheets (preferably her favorite color or a pattern that she likes) and have really comfy chair in the corner with a floor lamp like a little reading area

i'm redoing my bedroom and i need ideas?

Haley

i'm 18, and i've had the same bedroom for almost 10 years. the walls are lime green, bright blue, and purple. its a decently sized room, and the carpet is an off white (with many stains...oops!). i have another room attatched to my bedroom (its over the garage) and i painted it a rich red color with zebra pattern painted on the cieling and parts of the wall, so i'm trying to avoid animal print and the color red. i just have absolutely noo idea how to decorate my bedroom. i want either a theme or a color scheme to go off of but i cant come up with anything. i'm not really 'girly' but i'm not a total tomboy either. also, i'm much more of an adult than a kid/teenager, so something more adult, yet, not boring, ya know? any suggestions?

Bedroom design help (teen girl)?

queenfanfo

I am possibly getting my room re-done this summer (for my birthday) and was wanting something modern but cool. I already have a few ideas in my head, but the thing is, I don't want to be costing my mum and dad a heap! I will also be contributing money to the furniture and things, so they won't be paying for everything, but it would be really good if I could get everything at a reasonable price. My ideas were:

-A double bed with storage. (This one isn't really an idea because I do need a new bed.)

-A ball chair. (They are cool and look comfortable! They are quite expensive though..)

-A wall sticker of Freddie Mercury or any inspiring quotes or song lyrics.

-Some kind of wardrobe that isn't too chunky and is not wooden.

-A whiteboard or something? Anything that I can kind of use to put on reminders and photos, etc.

-A funky bedside lamp.

I would like to have a completely new room from what I have right now, which is all girly. I feel like I need a more grown-up room, but still one that isn't too old for me and is modern. I am obsessed with the band Queen so any Queen related products that I could put in my new room would be a bonus!
Also, I am sorry if I have come across as picky and fussy and spoilt, but I just want to make sure that my room ends up perfect, and I really need help finding websites and stores in the UK to buy these things for my room. Plus, I have saved up since my last birthday to get money for the room and am still saving at the moment.
Any help would be appreciated. Links are good as well. Thanks :)

Oh, and the colour theme would probably be black and another colour, but I still need to decide on the other colour.

Answer
Designing a room is really fun. If you want a grown up look, go for neutral colors. You said you like black, which is a start. I recommend coffee house colors, like chocolate browns or off-white. You can keep it youthful by adding stylish decoration such as framed posters, plants and draped cloths over your furniture to add a splash of color. I myself an a fan of reds and purples. A white board could be a good idea as long as it doesn't become cluttered with notes. If you want to stay organized, I recommend a planner or a decorative notepad. A few throw pillows are nice, but don't cover your bed in them like some girls do. A nightstand is a good idea, not just for a lamp but it's a good place to store things. I have a friend who loves interior design and goes to places like thrift stores for some things if saving money is your thing. You'd be surprised how much a new paint job can change the look of a bookshelf or jewelry box. (Don't buy something that smells bad. You want your room to be comforting, not worrisome.) The important thing is that you get the most out of your space. Arrange everything in a way that is convenient and easy to clean up. Mirrors are another way to open it up to add the illusion of more space. I would also recommend looking into getting a desk. Homework goes a lot more smoothly when you have an area that has everything you need.

Bedroom designs Ideas. Teenage Girl.?

I am digging zebra print. I have a comforter picked out but I am open to new ideas. I also need some Inspiration. So if you leave a good answer I will be a fan :)

Answer
If you have a black and white zebra comforter picked out, you need to choose another color to accent with. Pink, orange, turquoise, lime, purple, red...all look good. Paint your walls a light shade of whatever color you choose then start adding that color around your room in accents like pillows, throws, area rugs, candles, flowers, art, and lamps. I wouldn't add too much more of the zebra print, just a little here and there, to keep the bed your focal point. Here are some
pics that might help you visualize better:
You could also paint your room brown like this one if you want a more serene room:

Somethings you might want to add:

http://www.target.com/Animal-Prints-Trimmer-Variety-Pack/dp/B001185VK4/sr=1-4/qid=1226236778/ref=sr_1_4/602-8295273-6848665?ie=UTF8&rh=k%3Aanimal%20prints&page=1
Find accent pillows and area rugs with just a little of the zebra print as a border on it, so as not to overwhelm the bed and use black or a very subtle black and white drapery.

Hope this helped. What you want to keep in mind, I think, is that too much zebra print wouldn't look good. If it's on the bed, use it sparingly around the room.

Good Room Ideas For Teenage Girls?

c

Okay...So we are moving and I have a pretty big room...Its un-finished so I can do what ever I want with it..
I was wondering what are some good ideas for a room...
Could you maybe post links to beds and other furniture or just pictures of rooms that you think look cool for a teenage girl..
I do need a desk for school for sure..
Thankss (:
And I want a creative room..
Something you don't see that often..
I was thinking about a horse theme
or a gummy bear theme
or something really creative..
Thanksss

Answer
You have cute theme ideas!(: I'm also in the middle of re-doing my room. I'm painting the walls white and red and using turquoise as the accent color. (: just one idea. for you. Gummy bears are so cute! i think you should definitely incorporate that in there someway. i was thinking of getting one of those huge gummy bear soap container things. haha. i love the colors Purple and Green together. Or, another really cool idea that i saw was a greay, orange, and blue room. It's VERY creative and different, but as long as you do it right, it could turn out GREAT! Kinda like this one!

And Also a good color scheme is using a bright color on your walls, and black and white accents. Like this one:

Vintage Girl Bedroom?

bruyre

I am looking for a bedding that is vintage and artsy like this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/5320645
or this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/5310812

but I can't find any like them. Sites or links would be great. also if you know how I could go about setting up my room like this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/3477172
like where to get the sheets over the bed and the string of lanterns that size. Also any other design tip you would think look good in the room. Thanks!

Answer
Try Anthropology's home store (though it does tend to be a little expensive)
http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/category.jsp?navAction=jump&navCount=0&id=HOME
if you want something a little less expensive, try Urban Outfitters apartment section
http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?popId=&navAction=poppushpush&isSortBy=true&navCount=27&pushId=APARTMENT&id=A_DECORATE

Both of these places have bedding, decor, and furniture that achieves that bohemian/indie/vintage look you are going for.
follow this link for the lanterns:
http://www.japanesestyle.com/catalog/partywedding/bulk-paper-lanterns
regarding the canopy style thing-- just take 2 or 3 pieces of light (not heavy) fabric of your choice that each piece should be twice the length of your bed. you can either put thumbtacks over the 4 corners of your bed on your ceiling or nail in the fabric in whatever drape-ish fashion you like.
regarding the decor: hit the second hand shops and vintage stores, they will have cool but cheap artsy papers and art that you can hang on your walls. Also, find some photography that you like and pin it all over your walls (magazine clippings will do)
also, find a pretty tapestry (they sell them at urban outfitters or vintage stores) that you like and hang it on the wall, use it as rug, or a blanket.
last but not least: dont be matchy matchy! vintage bohemian style is all about different colors and patterns coming together to create one artsy and pretty room. dont be afraid to take risks!

Princess themed bedroom(NOT for a little girl)?

Sarah

I'm a teen girl (16) and I'm kinda starting a princess theme in my room. And I don't want to end up looking like a six year olds room. What I mainly need help with is well... Okay I have a wall with a big mirror then I have a wal decor quote right above it that says "yes, you are the fairest of them all" have two glass squared shelves on either side of the mirror. I have yet to put anything inside yet because I can think or find something princess or fairy tale like to put in it that doesn't make it seem like a child's room. So what should i put in them to carry on my theme ? Thank you very much !

Answer
Be careful not to get too carried away with the theme, as with things that say 'princess' literally, that's where it gets little girlish. Instead, concentrate on how a fairytale princess room would look. Purple is a color of royalty, think dark purple bedding in a lush fabric like velour or a very soft microfiber, satiny drapes in dark purple, a large bejeweled mirror, a collection of small decorative mirrors all grouped together closely, crystal lamps and a crystal chandelier in place of your ceiling light, lots of satiny and velour/microfiber throw pillows on your bed in pink, a lacey 'canopy' over your bed, (it doesn't need to be a canopy bed, you can hng it like a swag from your ceiling, draping down the sides), a pink or ivory slipper chair, feather boa draped over something, and lots of sparkle. If purple isn't your favorite color,a wine color or burgandy would look royal as well. As for your square boxes, think bejeweled, a tiara, large diamond-like necklace, or other sparkly accessories. And what princess doesn't have a bejeweled jewelry box in her princess room? Add a lush area rug for your tootsies and your set. Pier 1 is a great place to find a lot of these things. Or get to a craft store and bejewel what you already have. Sounds wonderful.

Teen Girl Bedroom Design Help?

Serena Jac

im a 13 turning 14 year old girl and i really need some bedroom designs. this is the first time i actually get to design my own room so i want to make it nice. my fav colors are red, white and black but since my room is in the basement i don't get any natural light and my mom thinks that those colors will be to dark(especially because my room is getting dark hardwood floors)...she wants me to have a neutral color in my room but i don't want my room to say "adult". if you have any cute AND neutral ideas that say teen and young adult, please go wild with whatever ideas you have. btw, i don't NEED my room colors to be red, white and black, those were just my first designs. make sure that the colors will go with dark hardwood floors though please. the best ideas will be chosen as winner. thanks to every one

Answer
You definitely need a light neutral earth tone, something in the cool blues or greens to reflect and bounce the lighting in your room, perfect with the red, black and white.
such as a light turquoise

Then pick out a bed in a bag, rug, wall decor/mirror, lighting, accents and accessories.
