I Need Idea's For Re-Decorating My Bedroom. Any Ideas?

laurenn' b

Hello, I'm Lauren. A 13 Year Old Girl For England.
Currently My Bedroom Is A Bright Shocking Pink Colour, I Have Pink Walls, Bedding, Curtains, And Most Other Things Actually. I Really Like My Room, But I Am Looking To make My It Look A Little More Grown Up. However I Do NOT Want To Change All The Pink Walls As I Love The Colour Pink!
I Was Thinking Of Creating A Feature Wall And Decorating It With A Really Nice Black And White Patterned Paper. Then I Was Thinking Of Changing My Bedding And Curtains To White And Having Lots Of Cushions Everywhere.
My Questions Are:
1) Do You Think Black, White And Pink Will Look Nice In A Bedroom.
2) If Yes, Do You Think My Ideas Will Look Good?
3) If No, What Color's Will Look Good With The Pick I Already Have And Do You Have Any Ideas Of How I Can Introduce Your Colour Ideas Into My Bedroom?

Thank You For Your Time And Help. Please Try To Answer In As Much Detail As You Can. 10 Points For Best Answer.

Lauren, xx

Answer
1.) Yes
2.) As a matter of fact, I think your ideas are sensational! All you have to do to find out is look at these pictures!

Here's some black & white wallpaper. It's beautiful.

3.) The only other color I think would look good is sage green. You might be able to find bedding with all three colors. If not, you can find small vases, an art print with pink & sage, or sage & pink throw pillows-maybe two sage & one pink. I know this says, "Posh Tots", but I think this is gorgeous.

Instead of the blue they've added, just get a few throw cushions.

OMG....I just found one with all three!

Green and Brown Teenage Bedroom?

I have lime green and brown in my bedroom. I am a fourteen year old girl. I can't paint my walls....Any tips for me? I would like to keep these colors, but I would like a few decorating ideas. Here are the things I already have:

-Brown comforter
-Lime green plush throw (for my bed)
-Lime green throw pillow (again, for my bed)
-Brown bulletin board
-Lime green small bin for my CD's
-Small organizer with lime green drawers (the canvas kind)
-Two small lime green baskets for my things (there on the top shelf of my closet)

I took off my closet doors so it's more open. I would like any decorating and organizing tips!! Thanks in advance!

*Again; I can't paint!!! And I have a small space.

Answer
Well, maybe you should get some door beads to seperate your closet, or some track curtains - sheer.

Do you have windows? Get some curtains! Maybe a little window bench to put in front, with some pillows?
I think you need a rug, a big brown or green spotted rug maybe? With some floor pillows or a lounge chair, like a beanbag or foldup round one.

Maybe some new lighting? How about those big round oriental looking lights? or a framed mirror? You could get some abstract art that you can make, paint, draw or you can take some photographs - even buy them and frame them in different sized frames: http://www.roomzaar.com/rate-my-space/Girls-Rooms/UpdatedDaughters-room/detail.esi?oid=6689841

Some rooms, check out the decorating:

http://www.roomzaar.com/rate-my-space/Girls-Rooms/Green-and-Brown-Girls-Room/detail.esi?oid=6283188

You can get some underbed drawers, or put up some shelves on your walls for more organizing.
Get some candles and put them on top of your nightstand - maybe a cute abstract vase with long beautiful flowers? Something mature and classy?

Add different shades and textures of green accessories, and brown - like this bed: http://www.roomzaar.com/rate-my-space/Girls-Rooms/Green-and-Brown-Girls-Room/detail.esi?oid=6283188

A little pricey, but just for ideas search around:

Good luck.

Painting a small room to be an office space?

ashleyyy

Right now it's a lime green. Is a small bedroom that I'm planning on turning into an office space. I want something calming but not a pastel, but I don't want it to be so dark that it makes the room smaller. It doesn't have the best lighting. I was thinking a taupe or a medium grey with blue undertones. Any ideas?

Answer
We painted a small room in a lighter shade of milk chocolate with white wood trim. I thought it would look smaller but it really doesn't. You can accent with any color -- red, blue, or an entire accent wall in a lighter color or even mirrors if your budget allows. Good luck, I hope it looks beautiful regardless of your color choice!

Answer
Looking for fresh design ideas for pretentious and stylish teenage girls? In this post we will try to give a hand. For today weâve gathered together a set of 25 pictures which represent young girlsâ rooms. We tried to do a various selection: we went with some serious and sober interiors, but we also gave a shot to the familiar and very popular pink, orange and red arrangements. All of the rooms are practical, featuring working spaces, small bookcases or shelving systems for books and Cds and beautiful cabinets especially designed for teenage girls. Last but not least, we consider the mirror to be a mandatory item in any girlâs bedroom, so in some of the photos below you will notice they have a special status. Even though not all the room design ideas have a particular theme, the decorating elements are very well interconnected creating interiors that are both functional and aesthetic.

I need some bedroom ideas help!?

claire

Well aside from my other question I need help designing my room . Well I have a bunch of posters! Should I take them down? And I'm getting a drawer for my clothes to replace this one thing cause its too small. But I have a canopy bed and I already figured out how to make a canopy and I want to paint my room . But what color? Here is everything I have
A desk
Vanity
Recliner
Pink storage thingy
A mini table for my makeup and bible
And I have other things but they are all organized
Tell me how to organize my room plz :) and thanks!

Answer
Oh dear, I don't know if you realise it but with the information you have given your question is pretty impossilble to answer because you haven't supplied any room dimensions or a picture of it, or even the color of the major elements in your room - like the bedding and bedding, they are always the biggest part of any bedroom, and you also haven't mentioned what style you like, just what you have now.... do you like indie, preppy, girly pink, glam, eclectic, country, or funky?
So, I'm going to swamp you with a link for each of those styles for you to look at (though as you have a canopy bed and something pink, I think you may be girly pink or preppy, but???) and when you look through these pics, bear in mind what you have now, and try and think what would work with what you have (if you are able to paint your room great, but don't forget the color of the bedding and canopy etc)
Indie (which to me is kind of bohemian)
http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/indie%20bedroom
(urban outfitters do some great indie stuff but they're stuff is pretty diverse so could fit in to quite a few styles, fun to look at anyway... http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?id=A_DECORATE
Preppy - giving you the google images for preppy bedroom but PBTeen has a lot too

Funky
http://www.wakeupfrankie.com/collections/

You don't have to fix on one particular style, but I couldn't recommend a country type room decor if you are a glam girl, so have a look around and see what you love and work what you have into something similar.

So now you have an idea of what color you may like your room, and what style possibly, here's a link to Better Homes and Gardens "Design A Room" you do have to register but its free, and really helpful when you are having problems deciding how to arrange furniture.. http://www.bhg.com/bhg/file.jsp?item=/marketing/registration/arrange_a_room/bhg_splash_AAR_designroom&ordersrc=google1roomplanbedroom_splash&s_kwcid=TC|5599|online%20bedroom%20designer||S|e|22476387058

As to your posters, if you still love them keep them, but if they are looking tired maybe arrange them into a big shape like maybe a heart, it makes posters seems so much more interesting. Sort of like this, though bigger because these are photos not posters... http://designaglow.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/living_with_art_3_high_impact_displays_032513_4.jpg

Hope thats been some help, and I hope your room ends up being wonderful.

Wedding Guest Book?

Kiki_white

I cannot find a guest book that fits with my idea of the perfect one. Has anyone found one that is simple. I am wanting only our initials on the front of it. Perhaps just in silver or white embriodery.
No ribbons or colors. Just simple & beautiful.

Answer
Instead of having a guest book that gets tossed in a box somewhere, why dont you take your engagement picture and put it in a frame (without the glass) at the reception, have your guests sign around the picture. Once you get your photos back, you can replace your engagement photo with a wedding photo. It is an inexpensive idea and one that you can display in your bedroom or where ever you wish for many years.

Good idea?

Thinking about making the florida room into a bedroom, is this a good idea? Just need second hand opinions. The florida room has a cieling with a fan, and windows surrounding it and two doors on each side. I plan on putting vertical curtains across. The room is attached to the house, and has tile floors. Is this a good idea as a guest room? or no? Explanation please.

Answer
Sounds like a great idea to me....you already have the perfect windows to make a beautiful room. a ceiling fan and the doors. Nice flooring, so what would stop you? Sounds like a great place to fix up and it's not far from the Kitchen>>>>Good luck

Bedroom Ideas, Teenage girl!?

Q. I am redoing my room and I am getting a new bed. I can't decide what type of frame to get. I have a couple hundred dollars to spend so I was thinking something from walmart or target. I am 16 years old and a little bit of a girly girl. Right now I have a black faux leather frame and it's just too boring for me. I was thinking a metal canopy bed would be cute, with a colorful comforter. With a dark wood dresser and night stand. Also, I am looking for a cheap vanity desk, modern but cute. Pictures with your guy's ideas would be amazing. I have a few hundred dollars to spend, but the cheapest of things would be better. Thanks in advance!
Thanks..you were a big help............pft.
You really helped! I love your room. You gave me a whole new idea. I really like the white and silver in your room. I am now looking for a white dresser, a little desk like yours with a mirror so I can sit down and do my makeup and a silver framed bed. Thank you so much :)

Answer
When I was 15 I went through the stage of completely re-designing my room and I'm so glad I did because I love my room! First I chose the theme I'd be going for which is really girly! So I painted three of my walls purple and added purple hearts as a border in the middle of each wall horizontally, and then one wall hot pink with black stencils ontop, it made my room so much more brighter! I then decorated most things in pink and purple to match the walls.. and having the furniture either white or silver to break away from all the colours. The paint was cheap for my walls, one large can of purple, one large can of hot pink and one small can of black. I got one of my family members to paint my walls and then my mother stenciled black patterns onto one of my walls so there was no cost in hiring a painter to paint my room!

I then bought new bed sheets and pillows in bright colours to make my room really bright and girly, and accessorised mainly in pink, purple and bright colours. Things like candles are cheap and look really good in your room, also a bonus that they smell really nice!

With your old furniture, you can still change it for a cheap price. What I did was kept my dressing table with the mirrow attatched but simply removed the original knobs that were on each drawer and bought silver round knobs which matched my bed, that was a great idea to do instead of the ugly little girl floral knobs I had on it originally!

Accesories with picture frames of your heroes or singers/actors that you like, and a few with your friends of course! All you will be paying for is a new bed, paint, new bed sheets and pillows, few candles and picture frames and you should be set!

Here's some photos of my room for inspiration and ideas, enjoy!

any girl bedroom ideas?

Madel

Answer
Depending on how old your girl is, she'll prefer different things. If you want something that will last, paint a feature wall of her favourite colour, in white stencil on a lotus-on-stalks design with butterflies spreading through-out the scenery. Every girl would want to be in her own way a little princess, add a white mosquito net to create a rich and fresh atmosphere. Grab a matching desk (I suggest Ikea, you'll be amazed what you will find there) and to compliment it why not put a mirror mosaic on the side or above it.

If your girl is into ponies and horses, turn her bedroom door into a stable door, with a bit of wood, paint, and a horse picture on the top she'll be AMAZED. With some ply wood you can stencil pink ponies to decorate.

If she is in a more enchanted fairy realm, paint a forest scenery, go to your local craft shop and purchase 3D stick on butterflies, a few gems to decorate her mirror, fairy led lights, cut out a tree shaped coat hanger and turn an old wardrobe into a castle entrance!

Toddler bedroom decor...?

Nanabanana

My daughter just moved to a "big girl" bed and so I went out and bought her a new bedspread and all white furniture. The comforter is bright pink, lime green, purple, orange and teal. I am trying to decide what color to paint the walls. I was thinking of doing a lighter green (like lime but lighter) and then doing a bright pink stripe around the room, or else painting the room a light teal with a purple stripe...does that sounds too "grown up" for a 2 year old? I want it to be a room she can grow into but I don't want the colors/design to be too much for her. What do you think? Any other cute decorating ideas? I hate just one color walls so I'm trying to use two colors to decorate...Thanks!

Answer
I think a soft lime green with a medium pink strip would be adorable! I don't think it would be too grown-up. It should serve her well into preteens, at least! Another idea for longevity in a kid's bedroom: paint the walls a solid color and then decorate them with the peel and stick "Wallies" or other precut images that can be adhered to the wall temporarily. You could put some flowers or butterflies on the wall now, and then when she gets older and wants something different, you could put polka dots or something geometric like that. Good luck!

Bedroom design?

guitar_her

I am thinking about redecorating my bedroom but I have no idea what I want to do. I am in high school so I want something fun and interesting but not over the top. I kind of like modern victorian style things and my intrests include music, writing, and reading, but if you have any other cool ideas I would love to see/hear about them-- pictures would be greatly appreciated!
When I said modern victorian, I meant the designs with the victorian patterns but with bright, bold colours and lines-- sorry if that confused anybody, I'm not very good with those kinds of words :)

Answer
A lot of neutral colors would be great like tan or brown or a very light shade of grey paint would be nice. Also, dark would flooring is very elegant and beautiful and it goes great with tan or brown walls. Warm colors like gold and brown really make a room inviting. Hope this helps!

Decorating bedroom ... ideas?

Mollie :)

Helloo.. I'm thinking of redecorating my bedroom, and I've been thinking that the floral/flock design wallcoverings have been coming into fashion recently. I went to a restraunt the other night, and they had purple flocked design wallpaper and it looked absolutely stunning. Then they had a musky purple/pink ceiling. Two of the walls were in flocked wallcovering, the other two were in white paint. It gave the room a gorgeous look and a romantic feel to it. The problem is, on the internet I can't find any purple flock in that design. I must of searched for hours. Anyway.. If you can find some, thanks.. also if you've got other ideas, they are appreciated (: xxx.

Answer
Here are a few results I found-
* http://www.designyourwall.com/store/Purple-damask-flock-wallpaper-VCC0417-pr-193.html
* http://www.designyourwall.com/store/Purple-Surrender-velvet-flocked-wallpaper-VCC0605-pr-1514.html
*http://www.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/b9/b/AAAAAht9HS0AAAAAALm_2A.jpg --> This type is from BrocadeHome.com and looks cool because it has a silver back

My ideas....
1. I just wanted to say, your idea sounds very beautiful.
2. My preferences in color are always changing. I might consider a black and white wallpaper because then you can throw in bright fun and beautiful punches of any desired color. For example, you might choose to use a purple comforter and some accesories now, and in a few months switch to lime green, or yellow or teal.
Black/White Retro Wallpaper--->
http://www.designyourwall.com/store/Herald-Black-White-Faux-Flocked-retro-modern-floral-wallpaper-GB17162H-pr-2818.html

Same idea with the silver and white- would look great with dark furniture and really bright colors http://www.designyourwall.com/store/White-Silver-Mylar-Grill-velvet-flocked-wallpaper-RVV7-pr-1073.html

Purple bedding--http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10120337

3. It might be the wrong style, but adding a chair-rail or beadboarding along your walls, then the wall paper on the top section would look great. (You could even paint the beadboarding a color other than the standard white/wood tone....like black to match the wallpaper!)

Good luck, sounds like you're sure to have a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l room no matter what you choose to do.

Tween girls bedroom ideas?

Hope

Hey guys!! Alrighty sooo... I really want to redecorate my own room! I already decided what color I wanted to paint my walls! (Baby blue) But... I need websites on what designs I should get, what posters, what kind of furniture, etc.! Please help me guys! THANKS!

Answer
I think you should pick out your bedding first because that is likely going to be the biggest splash of color in the room and stand out the most - then use the colors in it to choose your posters/furniture, etc. You can even pick your baby blue paint based on that (assuming there is blue in the bedding). Try to pick one dark color and one light color (like baby blue and black) and have a lot of things in those two colors and then have one or two accent colors that are only used for a few things.

bedroom design for teenage girl?

Q. going to be 16 in august. it is a medium sized room, with a single bed, cream carpet, and pale pink walls. these cannot be altered. at the moment most of the walls are covered in magazine cuttings and photos. how can i make it look more grown up? its quite cluttered, and looks messy and quite horrible!
oh, and i have a biiiiig bay (i think thats the word) window.

Answer
Have you damaged the walls with tape or anything that holds up the magazine clippings? If not, take them all down and put them in a scrapbook (or throw them away), except for your three favorites.

Here's the important part if you want a nice looking room: Pick an "inspiration piece" and use those colors or that motif in the rest of the room. If you have to stick with your current comforter, you might use the colors in that as your jumping off point.

Pick ONE color that appears most in your inspiration piece OTHER than pink. Buy a few pieces of posterboard in that color to use for cheap mattes and put no more than three of your favorite pictures, magazine clippings, or whatever centered attractively on the mattes. (Cut them to the sizes you need.) Arrange those on your walls and you'll have a whole new, much more grown-up look, and still keep your favorite things displayed.

Go through the clutter and make some tough decisions about what you can't use/wear or don't want any more and get rid of it - either donate it to a charity or have a yard sale - you'll feel so much better with the clutter gone!

If you still need additional storage after you've narrowed down your things, get some under-the-bed storage boxes so it won't be able to take over your room.

Last, but not least, follow the "one in, one out" rule - if you bring something new IN, you have to toss something old OUT. Best of luck!

Interior design tips for a 14 year old girls bedroom?

Lilly Ambe

I want to use the colors MINT GREEN and CANDY FLOSS PINK.

Wallpaper is not an option, I want to paint my walls but I'm not sure what colors.
Either-all pink-all green-one green wall and 3 white-one pink wall and 3 white-2 green and 2 pink

I have a vintage dressing table, chest of drawers and bed side table that all match (white and cannot be painted)

What are some other things I could do with the room and the walls?? Nothing to expensive.

Answer
Painting the room and walls is a good idea. But also have a good look at a good bedding set. The bed is the centre of a bedroom, and the way it is presented can have a huge impact on the presentation and character of a bedroom. There are lots of great bedding sets around, some of which also come with accessories such as curtains, floor rugs, wall decorations etc. The best thing is they are not expensive and it's not hard to find something that will suit your taste.

Orla xx

Answer
Hey :)

Okay, I was just about to ask pretty much the same question :D Then I saw yours and thought I may as well answer it =)

Pink & Black ALWAYS look really well together =) Maybe do two walls pink (hot pink) and two walls black. It would look really mature but at the same time super girly :D (Like, two walls black oppistie each other, not beside. And then the same for pink. So it would be like Pink Black Pink black)

Yeah, pick a theme :) Maybe have loads of stuff hot pink (eg. cushions, duvet covers, curtains) so they would contrast against the black, and they would stand out. Black and white photos would look really deadly :D Do you like Marilyn Monroe ? Yeah if you do they have black and white paintings in Argos. http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/0053734/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14571899/c_2/2%7Ccat_14571899%7CPictures+and+photo+frames%7C14572322/c_3/3%7Ccat_14572322%7CPictures%7C14572325.htm
This would look really cool the pink wall too :) - http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/6235202/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14571899/c_2/2%7Ccat_14571899%7CPictures+and+photo+frames%7C14572322/c_3/3%7Ccat_14572322%7CPictures%7C14572325.htm
or this :) -
http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/6233390/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14571899/c_2/2%7Ccat_14571899%7CPictures+and+photo+frames%7C14572322/c_3/3%7Ccat_14572322%7CPictures%7C14572325.htm

And then for storage stuff.... well it depends on what furniture you already have. If you get to choose the double bed (which you probably will) then I would go for something like this -
http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/6592419/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+and+furniture%7C14571899/c_2/2%7Ccat_14571899%7CBeds%7C14572194/c_3/3%7Ccat_14572194%7CDouble+metal+beds%7C14572203.htm ... or something along those lines :)

If you want somewhere for your make-up then I would suggest like a shelf or something? Or if you like, then maybe a dresser. If you got shelves then put it/them at eye level and if they dont have a back then you could put a pretty mirror above and decorate it :) You could arrange your makeup all nice and pretty :D ..It would look nice =)

Okay I'm so sorry but I cant tell you any more because I have to go :(
I hope what I told you helped though :D

Love Orla xOx

EDIT: ii only just realised your name is Orla :D Yeah us Orlas' rock =) xOx

What are original ideas for decorating a teenage girl's bedroom?

malorie m

I'm a 13 year old girl interested in art and music and I need to redecorate my room. It is all pink and little-kid-ish and I'm sick of it. I have a friend who put Christmas lights around the top of her room and I was kind of going for that original style. Any ideas?

Answer
Hello There,

We all like a nice peaceful retreat and definitely our bedroom is one of those places. I have a 13 year old and we redid her room when she was 12 (last year).

1. We painted her room with silver blue and white (Behr satin finish). Two walls blue, two walls white.

2. We then chose two paintings (from Marshalls) One was a blue hues ocean scene with waves with a white finish frame and the other was a blue painted frame of teenagers playing in the water by the ocean side. It has more light to it. We placed that on the blue wall. We also added a silver oval framed mirror and and rectangular family picture collage frame.

If you really want a string of lights you can hang it along the window.

3. Her bedding is a mixture of different shades of blue, yellow and fuchcia. It is a very peaceful room..

4.We also put a small microwave kitchen cart in her room where she has a terrarium with seashells sitting on top of it. The shelves hold her school supplies. . You can find this at the resource below.

I wish I could show you a picture but it is truly a retreat for her.

This is not an expensive makeover. Follow what we did and choose your own colors. Walmart, Target and Marshalls are all great stores.Discuss it with your parents and
email me if you have any questions.

Happy decorating,

Romona

What color should I paint my master bedroom ?

w8n4myhrtn

The entire house has a flowing feel except for the 3 bedrooms in the back. The master bedroom and the kids rooms alol reflect our own personal taste and interests.

This is the bedding set that I have :

http://walmart.scene7.com/walmart/flash_zoom.jsp?company=WalMart&sku=5996080&config=WalMart/zoom_config&default=0008180616645&title=Home%20Trends%20Amaryllis%20Comforter%20Set&categoryid=4044

The furniture is black and the accents are black and rod iron.

The curtains are black sheers and I am going to hand paint the tribal design from the bed set around the top og the ceiling.

Sooooo.... what color do I paint the walls ?

I have been given suggestions of a deep red, silver/ gray color, or a tanish color.

Any ideas ?

Answer
A dark color will make the room feel/look smaller.
Tan would neutralize your beautiful red.
I would try an off white, ivory, or very pale gold or silver,
All would keep room 'open', but work well with the bedding, etc.
Could add some gold [ brass ] or silver [ chrome ] accents too.

What colors go with....in our master bedroom?

Q. We are decorating our master bedroom.

We want to paint, get curtains, new bedspread and visuals.

We are thinking of painting it a maroon(ish)color?

or possibly a Hunter Green color?

What color would go good with a Maroon painted room and what color would go with a Hunter Green painted room?

We have pink sitting area (2 chairs and 2 foot stools) in the room as well, so the colors should fit in with a touch of pink.

Please and Thank-you in advance for your answers.

Answer
Hmmmm... pink?? Lets see: First off here is this tool you both will have some fun with: its a virtual room designer and its really great. Here's the link. I liked it because it gave me some really good ideas:
http://www.findanyfloor.com/VirtualRoomDesigner.xhtml

With the pink couches... have you maybe thought of a chocolate brown?
It seems like you aren't afraid to go with deeper, darker colors and personally a milk chocolate brown would accent the pink (add a few accent pillows on the couch too) that would be really beautiful.

Since the couches are a pinky color the browns would really richen everything up! I personally wouldn't go with the maroon because it will bring in too much of the reds/pinks etc. It wont look balanced. ya know?
If you wanted to go with Maroon - use it for your curtains... that will tie the couches to it, and the couch accent pillow to the walls - making an even balance for your space!

That's all I have for ya... I hope this helps!

Teen girl bedroom ideas?

Anna!

So I used to be such a tomboy and when I was 8, my room was super girly so I redid it and made it a sports theme. Now, I am almost 16 and I am really embarrassed whenever people come up to my room. I was going to ask my parents if I could redo my room as my 16th birthday present. I am trying to see if I can keep the same furniture so it doesnt cost like $5,000, but it's tan and just looks like a little kid's furniture (I've had it since I was a baby) What colors do you think would look best with it? I know, all colors go with tan but I just want to know what color would make it a little girlier and grown up. If my mom lets me, I was going to see if I could get new furniture and then I would get white furniture. I think pink or aqua walls would look really good. What do you think? Do you have any ideas for my room?
here's the duvet I was hoping to get: http://www.pbteen.com/products/suite-organic-duvet-cover-and-sham/?pkey=csolid-duvets
and then whatever color I wanted for the lines of the duvet, I would probably paint my walls that color. Do you have any ideas on the color? What color duvet, walls, curtains, and rug do you think I should do with either tan furniture or white furniture?
Sorry that's so long hahah but if you can help that would be great!
Thanks
Anna

Answer
Pink is too boring, i don't know...but Acqua's a very pretty color. I also suggest a light yellow. About the furniture, if your mother doesn't agree in buy new ones, ask her to take them to a craftsman to paint them, or just ask her to help you painting them. They will look like new! and depending on their models, they will can even look vintage, what's a classy and feminine touch.
Here, maybe this help:

Even though not all the room design ideas have a particular theme, the decorating elements are very well interconnected creating interiors that are both functional and aesthetic.

bedroom design for teenage girl?

Q. going to be 16 in august. it is a medium sized room, with a single bed, cream carpet, and pale pink walls. these cannot be altered. at the moment most of the walls are covered in magazine cuttings and photos. how can i make it look more grown up? its quite cluttered, and looks messy and quite horrible!
oh, and i have a biiiiig bay (i think thats the word) window.

Teenage Girl Bedroom Ideas?

Katie

im allowed my bedroom done out because mine is very pink and girly, but i need some ideas on what to do? i love the shabby chic style and i love cath kidston and cute things but i dont want it to look two young. my style is vintagey but i want something soft, relaxing and sophisticated. Any ideas on colour, patterns, wallpapers etc etc :)? Thanks in advance!

Answer
I would recommend some of these colors together....
1 - RMS user isabellaandmaxrooms updated this girls' bedroom with mature furnishings and a soft, feminine color palette. Classic white furniture and an elegant chandelier present a timeless look that she'll love for years to come.
2 - For the modern girl, clean lines and bold hues work best. The varying shades of green, white and blue create a dynamic space in this bedroom. For a minimalist effect, replace bulky decor with sleek, space-conserving pieces, like this lamp/nightstand combination.
3 - The antique chandelier, mirrored nightstands and graphic wallpaper bring an adult style to this teenage girls' bedroom. For added edge, various patterns and textures were used throughout the space, from the area rug to the window treatments. The pink accent wall and apple-green headboard break up the classic black and white theme and provide a playful use of color.
4 - Black and white mixed with honeysuckle and pale green accents deliver a modern and glamorous look with a youthful flair. Sheer white curtains and soft, curved furniture bring in a feminine touch, perfect for any growing girl.
5 - Nothing says playful quite like a rainbow of colors. This bedroom keeps the furnishings simple and white, allowing the striped wall and vibrant bedding to take center stage. White accessories provide a sharp contrast for a clean and contemporary look.
6 - Gray is making a stylish comeback, and yellow is a gorgeous accompaniment for the soft hue. Sleek furnishings and modern accessories call for a bold addition, like the black-and-white striped area rug that looks right at home beneath a small ghost chair.
7 - Shades of black, white and red combine to form a childlike space with modern appeal. Clean lines and a smooth, white backdrop allow these basic hues to stand out for a bold and dramatic effect.
8 - RMS user hopecarlton turned two small bedrooms into one large, stylish teenage suite. Adjacent to the grand canopy bed, a small seating area provides extra space for entertaining friends or watching TV. Metallic accessories and furnishings deliver a glamorous accent to chocolate-brown and various shades of blue.

Hope it helps for you.

so i am a teenage girl and i want to redo my room so what are color schemes i could use? like i just need COLORS that would go together and make a nice sophisticated room :) please think out of the box and dont say pink and green!!!!!!!!!!! so just give me color ideas that would go together good thanks! :)

Answer
My room is purple and blue with red accessories :)

You could also have:
Red and cream
Light pink and cream
Bright Pink and cream (only one wall pink else it will look too much)
Blue and light grey
Turqoise and pale blue
Light green and dark green (only one wall dark green)

Remember dark carpets make a room look smaller, light make a room look bigger!
Posters make a room look more interesting and personal and reflect your taste in music, men, fashion etc
Try and make your room light, keep the window unblocked and keep the window ledge white else dust shows up easily on the surface of the gloss.
Wood/laminate flooring looks good with anything
Keep your room tidy when its decorated, it makes it look clean, smell less musty and its much more hygienic!

To test paints get some little tester pots and paint squares on your wall to see what the paint looks like when dry and what shades match. Colours look different on the can that on a wall!

Good luck :)

cheergurlf

OK so im 13 and im getting a bigger bedroom and my own bathroom and i was wondering what are some ideas on decorating my bedroom and bathroom. My favorite colors are pink, purple, and blue so you can say im a preppy girl i also love animal prints and wild colors im going into high school soon and i love having friends over so i want my room to be a place where i can have fun with my friends and still be a nice sleeping place. And in my bathroom anything that has to do with girls stuff. Anything you want to put as ideas put it it will be a lot of help im in desperate need of help.
Thanks in advanced for all of your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
I would say pink, purple, and blue would all go well together, but use animal prints sparingly (because they are easily overdone and can clash very easily).

Some fun things I might reccommend:

01. A simple comforter (Try not to get a busy print - The simpler the better, because then you won't have to worry about matching the rest of your room to the design on your bed) http://www.amazon.com/Fashionable-Animal-Print-Reversible-Comforter/dp/B0020BQLR8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=bedbath&qid=1278891495&sr=1-3

02. Colorful pillows or UglyDolls to bring out your awesome personality. http://www.amazon.com/Ugly-Doll-Classic-Uglydog-Pink/dp/B000BSHVS0/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1278891594&sr=8-23

03. Fun rugs in bright colors. http://www.amazon.com/PURPLE-Rug-Flokati-Collection-31/dp/B001TEICGA/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1278891266&sr=8-11

04. A nice lamp with a colorful lampshade. http://www.amazon.com/Peace-Love-Lamp-Nickel-Base/dp/B002AGFS2M/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1278891149&sr=8-7

05. Dish, Butterfly, or beanbag chairs. Fun and comfortable to have available for your friends when they come over. You could easily find one in pink or purple. http://www.amazon.com/Target-Dish-Chair-Pink/dp/B001JI6BHI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1278890987&sr=8-1

06. A bright French memo board on your wall to cover with pictures of your friends and favourite things. http://www.amazon.com/Tween-Scrapbook-French-Memo-Board/dp/B0023W1VJM/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1278890892&sr=8-7

07. A pretty calendar filled with images of your favourite things. http://www.amazon.com/2011-Butterflies-Calendar-Moseley-Publishing/dp/1592585450/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278892013&sr=1-1

I'd also reccommend going to Urban Outfitters - the store or the website. They have tons of cool stuff.

Any ideas for 2 girls and boy sharing 1 bedroom?

mickey16_6

We have a 4 year old girl, 2 year old boy and 11 month old girl. Pictures would be great to get some ideas!

Answer
Crib for the 11 month old, bunk beds for the 4 and 2 year old. 2 year old gets the bottom bed. Paint the room a gender neutral color, like yellow or a creme color. One side is for the girls to keep their things and the other is for the boy. Get separate trunks for their toys and let them help decorate too. Separate closets if available, if not, divide it equally, one side for each. Make sure there are no heavy items that can fall on the children. Bolt them down if necessary. Install child safety locks on drawers and doors if necessary. Kids are curious and will inevitably get into trouble at some point. Good luck.

Decorating Ideas For a Boy/Girl Shared Bedroom?

Butterflie

I have a 4 year old boy and a 2 year old girl. They have to share a bedroom at this time, and was hoping to get some ideas on how to decorate their bedroom.
Thanks!

Answer
Try a light lime-green for the walls. There bead spreads should be different colors, like the girls light pink and the boys light blue. Make the room fun, add black and white pictures of them on the walls. Give them each a little nook (that your 2 year old will eventually grow into). Bright colors. Etc.

Any DIY Teen (girl) bedroom design?

Alison

So I have had my room decorated the same since I was a young girl. Now I am trying to make it more me by hanging up pictures, re-arranging furniture etc I cant repaint or buy new furniture or anything like that. So far I added a huge collage of pictures and quotes on one of my walls. I am thinking of hanging sheets from the ceiling like this- http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6d34t4I001qbmuv5o1_1280.jpg but I'm not sure. Are there any other things I could do to make my room be more me and less little kid-ish?

Answer
Sheets, will collect bugs, dust, and spiders. Trust me...and they'll need cleaning every few months. Frankly, as a designer, that room is a mess to me. Not just chaos, but hard to maintain. However, if you use SHEERS, instead of a heavier, flat sheet, you'll get a softer feel to your room. If you have help, you can run a string thru the rod pocket, and cinch them up. That way, a simple hook will hold them at the gathered end, and you can drape them from there. I suggest long, narrow panels.

If you use the lighting idea, please use LED strands. They put off no heat, like regular holiday lights do. This save energy, and lives. You don't to decorate in charred woods and ash, right?

Experiment and have fun, as your mom will allow, but remember: You outgrew the other room, and you'll change your mind again, as you and your needs change. Make your additions easy to remove, and easy to repair. I love the 3-M hooks, that hold lots, and then come off walls with a light tug. Mom will appreciate you not making holes...so visit the hardware section, and load up!

Have fun. I got my love for decorating and design, starting with my own room.

Need Design and Bedding Ideas for Teen Girl Bedroom?

louiemocha

I don't know my style exactly, but I want something clean, crisp, simple and elegant. Please help with pictures and websites and bedding sets! I want design ideas, not just websites! and I really want lots of options. Price Range probably less than 75 dollars on a twin comforter/duvet cover

Answer
I think I may be able to find something clean/crisp/simple for a twin sized bed, but I am not so sure about the elegant side of things.

Something that may help me out a little more would be a description or picture of the rest of your bedroom. Such as the color/style of your bed frame and furniture, along with the colors of your room.

However, here are a few suggestions for you.
I do have to tell you, that things are a little more limited when it comes to twin sized beds, so if you still want that elegant feel you may want to consider adding a few extra touches to your room such as lamps and other little decorations.

Okay, so here is my first suggestion.
I would argue that it is fits your criteria listed above.
I think the silk adds a bit of elegance to the bedding, but at the same time it is a very simple design with very simple colors, that I think would look very nice. It is a little over your price range though, at $103.00
http://www.wakeupfrankie.com/Products/394/584/Duvets+Comforters/Bollywood+2+Duvet
It is also avalible with a sham (which I think pulls a bedset together very well.)
http://www.wakeupfrankie.com/Products/586/Bollywood+2+Set?color=2238

My next suggestion does not exactly follow the elegance idea, but I just adore polka dots, so I thought I would share this with you. :)

http://www.pbteen.com/gift/thm/thmgrl/thmgrlspd/index.cfm
The duvet cover itself fits right into your price range for this at 69.00 dollars.
The fun thing about this is that it is very cute and simple and because it is a neutral color, I am sure it could fit into any room. Also, as you can see in the picture, the site has some really cute colorful blankets and pillows that you can add that will give it more color and personality. :)

If you do post some pictures of your room or describe it some more, I would be more than happy to give you some different suggestions. :)

TIPS! How to decorate this bedroom for a young adult?

seeker

I am buying this bedroom and it should come soon

http://static.productreview.com.au/pr.products/118405_sleep_city_tokyo.jpg

I'm starting university and am re-doing my room.

I like to be very organised, don't like too much clutter, I'm academic, I like retro things, middle eastern things, photography, the summer, human rights, and I'm studying journalism and law.

I want a sassy, sophisticated and cultured room. A study space, head space, a place of refuge. I'm a girl btw.

I appreciate any tips! From wall colour (I may paint one feature wall) to bed cover designs, things to hang on my walls and place around my room etc etc anything!

Answer
Hi Seeker, i am re-doing my room aswell. Hehe!
I suggest that you have a hot pink, a red, or a lime green on a feature wall, and cream on the other walls. You should have a bed spread that ties in colours of accesories, and have some cushions matching those colours too. For accesories, you would want to have some candles in statement colours. Like the colours i was listing for your feature wall. Keep the furniture white, because too much cream and colours will look too full on. For a rug, have it white, to match with the furniture. The lamps will look brilliant with vibrant matching colours as the quilt.
If you want to stay organized, then i suggest going to Smiggle (or buying from their online store), because they have colours from purple to white. They are a stationery shop, which sell organizational things too. Such as magazine racks, pencil holders, little pull out drawers, and even water bottles!
Another idea for organising is to buy some shelves that can go up on the wall. Which will keep things out of the way!

I hope i helped, and good luck with your bedroom. Be sure to post a picture for us!

Finally, IKEA is a good source of information for storage and organization solutions and they have some really neat lighting options and accessory pieces. If you go to the main web-site, there is a segment where you can request an actual catalog be mailed to your home. This is the time of year to do it as their new catalog comes out in June. I find it to be a great source of information/ideas, even if I am not able to purchase from them.

Good luck, happy planning & I hope this helps. Have fun with it.

Teen Girl Bedroom Design Help?

Serena Jac

im a 13 turning 14 year old girl and i really need some bedroom designs. this is the first time i actually get to design my own room so i want to make it nice. my fav colors are red, white and black but since my room is in the basement i don't get any natural light and my mom thinks that those colors will be to dark(especially because my room is getting dark hardwood floors)...she wants me to have a neutral color in my room but i don't want my room to say "adult". if you have any cute AND neutral ideas that say teen and young adult, please go wild with whatever ideas you have. btw, i don't NEED my room colors to be red, white and black, those were just my first designs. make sure that the colors will go with dark hardwood floors though please. the best ideas will be chosen as winner. thanks to every one

Answer
You definitely need a light neutral earth tone, something in the cool blues or greens to reflect and bounce the lighting in your room, perfect with the red, black and white.
such as a light turquoise

How to design my bedroom to look vintage?

Meaghan

If you could suggest ideas or specific items at stores that I can buy, that would be great. Pretty much anything, from curtians and comforters to jewelry hangers and wastebaskets, anything that can make it look more vintage. If you mention items, please include the link to it at a specific store. Thank you :)

P.S. I'm getting my inspiration from this bedroom http://www.countryliving.com/cm/countryliving/images/childrens-bedroom-bedstead-htours0506-de.jpg and if you can find items that would correspond with this vintage bedroom specifically, that would be great. But if you have other vintage ideas, don't hesitate to mention them, because I may like your ideas better.

Answer
Wow, great room choice! Your inspiration is beautiful. I enjoy the same sort of style and one of my favorite sites for inspiration is http://parisapartment.wordpress.com/. She also has a store, but the pieces are pretty pricy. Anthropologie.com also has some beautiful vintage things occasionally. The best advice I could give it to buy simple furniture from antique stores or thrift shops and then paint them whatever color you want- then sand around the edges a bit to give it that vintage/distressed look.
Since we have a similar style aesthetic, here are some pieces you might like to check out:

I feel the bedroom is still missing something, can anyone offer suggestions?

We are slowly renovating our first house and I was very excited when it was time to do the master bedroom! Please ignore the flooring, that is the only thing we haven't gotten to yet. I still feel like it is missing something, if anyone has suggestions...please tell!

When we moved in, this bedroom was bright purple. We added the wainscoting and painted. Flooring is next....either new carpet or wood floors (undecided as of right now.)
Here is a photo of the other side of the room:

(there is a corner armoire coming to hide the TV)

Answer
Do not change the bedding it's beautiful.
You need a mirror in the left corner where that black wire mannequin thingy is. Something that looks like this.

Answer
I'm in 9th grade and the first party I threw was in my basement, it was wicked awesome. It's partially unfinished, so I just threw up a table, hung some Christmas/Halloween lights, switched out a few light bulbs with colored lights, and put down a small stereo, we had a great time. It doesn't take much decorating, you know?

How to decorate my room?

Fly-by-nig

Hey everyone,

So basically my parents agreed to let me redecorate my room but I don't know how I want it and need some ideas. A few things to consider;

I'm not allowed to paint or do anything permanent to my room.
I love the colour purple
I'm one of those girls addicted to video games
I love animals, and want at least one picture of my soon to be horse.
I'm not really girly
My friends describe me as the rock chic
I LOVE music! Especially Paramore

I don't want it the way it is now, the bed in the corner with the TV and Xbox 360 opposite with cords running all across the floor, the wardrobe against the other wall and posters everywhere. Also, I want it to be light, the window is behind the TV unit. Also, the sunrise comes in the window, if that helps.

Basically, I want some ideas to make it a bit different

Babysitting 2 girls ages 7-10?

Nickname

im babysitting 2 girls i've met them but didn't spend time with them i would like to know some tips and some activities for girls their age, im a bit scared so anything would help :)

oh im 15
its from 9ish am to around noon

Answer
Babysitting Girls:

- Girls aged 7 - 10 love to cook.
Have them prepare snacks, cakes, biscuits (plain decorated with icing are fun)
and also lunch - homemade pizza, stir fries, club sandwiches, salads etc.
Teach them simple cooking skills and how to clean up afterwards.

- They also love sewing and craft:
macrame, knitting, crochet, altering opp shop clothes to make new fashions,
make dolls clothes out of scraps, glue photos on boards to decorate etc.
Make Christmas decorations or cards.

- Start a small garden with herbs, veggies and flowers.

- Girls love to read:
Have some books on hand, read them a story or the first chapter of a great
novel like Charlotte's Webb. Kids of about 10 start to get into series like
The Little House Books. It is okay to read a little if they are tired, it's raining
or they just feel like a low energy activity.

- Mind and board games are challenging, fun and interactive:
Teach the girls some card games, Monopoly, Suduku, Crosswords, Charades etc.

- Girls that age love action:
Take them map reading or orienteering in the back yard or neighbourhood.
Play ball games, skip with one long rope, dance, swing, roller-blade, ride bikes
to the local park or pool, swim etc.

- Girls love story writing, song writing, singing and putting on plays.

- Girls love to paint, draw and create artwork:
Have them draw portraits, copy/enlarge magazine pictures, paint at the park.

- Kids love to be helpful and kind:
Visit the old lady next door with a cake, wash the neighbour's car or your car,
wash their bedroom windows, write to their Grandfather etc.

- Kids love pets:
Set up a fish tank, look after guinea-pigs, walk a neighbour's dog or go to the Zoo.

- Make sure the girls do not neglect their chores and that they tidy up after
activities. Plan ahead - have materials for a few activities on hand for each week.
Don't cram too much in as it is good for kids to have down time; just be ready to
offer ideas when the girls say that they are bored.

Have all these things in mind but allow the girls to relax and hang out and chat
as well. I would keep watching TV, computer games or movies to a bare minimum.
Parents don't generally want the TV or a screen to babysit their child when they
are paying you to give them some care that is more inspiring and healthy.
Some parents like to watch TV with their children or have that docile activity
as a back stop for other really busy times when the children are tired and the
parents are trying hard to cook dinner etc. and CAN'T spend time with them.

Keep the girls involved in childhood pleasures. Encourage their enquiring minds
and small and large motor(body) skills rather than teaching them make-up,
hair styles, being critical, consumerism, movies and commercial activities.
Kids have years of peer group pressure ahead of them; they grow up soon enough.

Play safe and have fun!!
