Vintage Girl Bedroom?

bruyre

I am looking for a bedding that is vintage and artsy like this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/5320645
or this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/5310812

but I can't find any like them. Sites or links would be great. also if you know how I could go about setting up my room like this:
http://weheartit.com/entry/3477172
like where to get the sheets over the bed and the string of lanterns that size. Also any other design tip you would think look good in the room. Thanks!

Answer
Try Anthropology's home store (though it does tend to be a little expensive)
http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/category.jsp?navAction=jump&navCount=0&id=HOME
if you want something a little less expensive, try Urban Outfitters apartment section
http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?popId=&navAction=poppushpush&isSortBy=true&navCount=27&pushId=APARTMENT&id=A_DECORATE

Both of these places have bedding, decor, and furniture that achieves that bohemian/indie/vintage look you are going for.
follow this link for the lanterns:
http://www.japanesestyle.com/catalog/partywedding/bulk-paper-lanterns
regarding the canopy style thing-- just take 2 or 3 pieces of light (not heavy) fabric of your choice that each piece should be twice the length of your bed. you can either put thumbtacks over the 4 corners of your bed on your ceiling or nail in the fabric in whatever drape-ish fashion you like.
regarding the decor: hit the second hand shops and vintage stores, they will have cool but cheap artsy papers and art that you can hang on your walls. Also, find some photography that you like and pin it all over your walls (magazine clippings will do)
also, find a pretty tapestry (they sell them at urban outfitters or vintage stores) that you like and hang it on the wall, use it as rug, or a blanket.
last but not least: dont be matchy matchy! vintage bohemian style is all about different colors and patterns coming together to create one artsy and pretty room. dont be afraid to take risks!

Princess themed bedroom(NOT for a little girl)?

Sarah

I'm a teen girl (16) and I'm kinda starting a princess theme in my room. And I don't want to end up looking like a six year olds room. What I mainly need help with is well... Okay I have a wall with a big mirror then I have a wal decor quote right above it that says "yes, you are the fairest of them all" have two glass squared shelves on either side of the mirror. I have yet to put anything inside yet because I can think or find something princess or fairy tale like to put in it that doesn't make it seem like a child's room. So what should i put in them to carry on my theme ? Thank you very much !

Answer
Be careful not to get too carried away with the theme, as with things that say 'princess' literally, that's where it gets little girlish. Instead, concentrate on how a fairytale princess room would look. Purple is a color of royalty, think dark purple bedding in a lush fabric like velour or a very soft microfiber, satiny drapes in dark purple, a large bejeweled mirror, a collection of small decorative mirrors all grouped together closely, crystal lamps and a crystal chandelier in place of your ceiling light, lots of satiny and velour/microfiber throw pillows on your bed in pink, a lacey 'canopy' over your bed, (it doesn't need to be a canopy bed, you can hng it like a swag from your ceiling, draping down the sides), a pink or ivory slipper chair, feather boa draped over something, and lots of sparkle. If purple isn't your favorite color,a wine color or burgandy would look royal as well. As for your square boxes, think bejeweled, a tiara, large diamond-like necklace, or other sparkly accessories. And what princess doesn't have a bejeweled jewelry box in her princess room? Add a lush area rug for your tootsies and your set. Pier 1 is a great place to find a lot of these things. Or get to a craft store and bejewel what you already have. Sounds wonderful.

can anyone suggest a beautiful design for a teenage girl's bedroom. i am having problems because the floor is green.

Answer
the green floor isn't a problem

go with a bohemian look, with lots of colors,

satin comforter (my friend got one for $34 at Ross - like a TJ Maxx or other seconds stores)

mosquito netting,

lots of storage, bookshelves, wardrobes,

lamps and sconces of different colors,

throw pillows with texture, corderoy, embroidery, silky.

Sheer curtains in different colors, over the windows, over the doors, put up curtain rods on the walls and hang curtains where ever you want, instead of painting the walls if you are uncertain about a paint color. A soft green, or blue, or mid-tone red, warm yellow will look great on the wall.

Avoid pastels. You want rich jewel tones to draw attention away from the green carpet.

Set up a small reading area away from your bed and desk. An old armchair from a second hand store draped with chenille throws will give you a comfy space to relax.

Organize the desk, it will help with studying and preparing for college. Now's a good time to get a filing cabinet and learn to file personal papers and bank statements.

Siblings sharing a bedroom?

Sherry

We have a 3 bedroom house and an 8.5 year old daughter. We are strongly considering moving toward adopting a child a few years younger than our daughter after the new year.

The problem is that the rooms are very different in size. The bedroom my daughter is currently using is quite large, while the other bedroom is very small. I'm having trouble with the idea that a kid we adopt will have such a small room when compared with his/her sister. I don't want the kid thinking (s)he is less important than the one we already have.

Our solution is to buy bunk beds and have them share the larger room. In addition to solving the bedroom size problem, this will encourage them to develop a stronger sibling bond. Anyway, this idea works fine if we decide to adopt another girl. But what about a boy? How old is too old for a brother and sister to share a bedroom? If we do go ahead and have opposite genders share a room now, what possible solutions could we implement later on?

Answer
About 10-12 is the age when boys and girls are separated so there are a few years. My children shared a room until he was 12 (6th grade) due to lack of space. They were both fine with it. I wouldn't do it beyond that though. They tend to want privacy after age 12.

I would just separate them now. If the adopted child is young (under 6), it wouldn't conceive a difference in room size. A room is a room to a young child but the toys & family are what is a big deal.

If the child is older, you can concentrate on making the room special for him or her by designing it with the child rather then design it before the child arrives.

If you want your daughter to have that too, do it before the new child arrives. You want it to be unique experience to the new child to make a difference.

As long as you make the child feel equal to your other child through love and respect, material things like room size won't matter much to them. It's only if the child feels less of value to your other one that he/she will see the room size as counting for less given. That's also the major cause of sibling rivalry (when one feels less loved and respected or inferior to the other). Children care more about love and acceptance.

How to decorate and organize a teen girl's bedroom?

Q. So i recently started reorganzing my rooms. I've got my "living/playroom" which has a couch, coffee table, stereo, phone, keyboard, computer/small corner desk, tv, playstation, and closet which I store games and other various items in. In my bathroom I have decided to turn it into a relaxing spa. :)

But for my bedroom I have no idea what I am going to do...
It is the biggest of my rooms and has a walk-in closet. It has a phone, stereo, tv, queen sized water bed, side tables, dresser, and chest of drawers that I dont really use.

I've already went through everything and either a) gotten rid of things I didn't want/need anymore, or b) put lightly worn clothes in a bag to donate. So I am already de-cluttered... But I don't know what to do now.. I was thinking about turning it into a dressing room but that would have been WAY too big of a dressing room... Then I thought about making a dressing/sports room since I workout in there and play volleyball.

But I'm still not sure... Any ideas?

(My room is light blue, with picture frame molding, two different shades of light brown in a tray ceiling and a white chandelier-fan, & one side of the room is covered in windows with a door to a balcony) (My closet is light brown)

Answer
Put Your Bed Against The Middle Of A Wall, Put A Side Table On Each Side Of The Bed- First Side Keep Your Phone- Second Side Keep A Vase Or a Big Frame.
I Think You Bed Set Colors Should Be Either ( Orange, Brown/Tan, Pink or Red ) Just A Suggestion
Put One Of The Drawers You Dont Use Much Against the Wall In Front Of Your Bed- Keep Your TV On It An The Remote And Stuff Inside
On Top Of Your Dresser You Could Put Your Stereo
If You Want A Dressing Room Your Walk-in Closet Could Be One Just Put In Your Clothes And Also Change In There.

How should I decorate my room?

Talia

Hello!! I am a 13 year old girl and have NO idea how I should decorate my room. My family lives in a condo. I share a room with my 9, almost 10, year old sister. We have one large closet (not walk in) and another small one on the opposite end of the room. Our beds are pulled apart. We have a rug in the middle of the room and a beanbag next to our beds. We have one book case next to the large closet. We have three shelves, one above my bed (my shelf), one next to the small closet (my sister's shelf) and one above the bookshelf which holds our tv, wii, and wii controllers. Next to the bookshelf has a bunch of my sister's dollhouses and next to that is our large air conditioner. On my wall I have a Hunger Games poster and, like I said, my shelf. How should I decorate? I want something fun, stuff posted on my walls. If you have a Tumblr, I would want something like how the rooms on there are like. Loosley based off of Teddy Duncan's bedroom is on Good Luck Charlie. (my sister watches that show) I want something summery with lights on my bed, something like that. Thank you!!

Answer
Hey, fellow Hunger Games fan here haha! I love decorating my bedroom myself. I'm 15 so yeah simmilar age. ;)

The first thing that I LOVE is bunting. It's so easy to make, and looks really cute. ATM, my room is black, white and deep orange, and since I love THG, I bought a copy of each book off ebay, and made bunting out of it, along with black, white and orange fabrics. Get a few types of material (I have three - orange and white stripe, black and white harlequin pattern, and the cut up books, taking my favourite pages and making bunting out of them. Bunting is so easy to make, google it! You just need your material, and some string/ribbon, so it's super cheap and easy.

I googled that room you mentioned, and it's really cute. I reccomend you go for a colour scheme like white, lime green or orange, and hot pink or purple. Don't go too overboard on colour, and keep white as a key colour - it makes everything look a LOT tider and fresh. If your parents are letting you repaint, then I reccomend you paint all your walls white, with a feature wall another colour from your colour scheme. Better still, you could paint splatter the white walls with colours also, or 'walk' a thin brush along them to make a few nice wavy lines.

Paint any wooden furniture white, too, to make it all tie together more. I also really reccomend you buy a dressing table with any cash you have to decorate. I bought mine from a charity shop since I was broke, but with some help cleaning, sanding and painting from my guy bestfriend, it looks amazing now! I don't know how I would live without it!

I also love my pinboard, and photowall. Basically, I stuck a load of photos together, and bluetacked them to my wall. It looks amazing close up and from further away, and my friends love trying to find themselves in pictures! It also means I don't need to buy photo frames, since there must be like more than 100 photos up there now! c:

I also have a pinboard, which has all sorts of doodles, posters, souviners, etc. on there. It's also kind of a shrine to Josh Hutcherson and Ed Sheeran hehe.

My final thing to do is to buy lots of cheap, plain cushions, and then personalise/decorate them. I have a couple, one says "Real or Not Real?", one has some of the Little Bird lyrics, and then a bird sillhouette, and another has a drawing of a birdcage (Florence welch's 'symbol'. I suggest you search her room too, it's very beautiful!). I got my friend to decorate the cushions for me, since she's very artistic, but I'm sure you could do them yourself, esp. if you're creative.

Hope I helped you! +++

Bedroom color ideas for girl bedroom?

Sophia

So my room isn't the biggest, but it has high ceilings and a big window! Im a 17 year old girl and im very girly, but I dont know what colors i could use that would be girly but also not childish.. I want a more mature room but i still want it to be young and pretty! Right now two of my walls are dark purple and the other two are light purple! I was thinking of doing peach and pink, but idk! I dont like greens really! so please give me and ideas for color schemes!

Answer
Pick your bedding well before your paint colors.
Peach and pink a very little girl.
At 17, you most likely will move out soon so you want to keep the room as neutral as possible.
All white or white bedding with gray or taupe walls will give you that Feminine look you love so much.
Make sure you have enough lighting and finish up with live green plants. The more simple it is, the better off the room will look :http://www.houzz.com/photos/bedroom/taupe-walls-

Ideas for a teenaged girls bedroom?

I am 13 and cannot find any room stuff I like and I am really picky about it. All the room stuff I find it is either too babyish or too adult.

Answer
I think the best way to start is to find a comforter set that you really like and choose a paint color from it. Since I don't know your tastes or your favorite colors, I'll show you some that I like. Hope you do too!
I like this one with pink or mocha colored walls:

Paint the room blue and use this:
http://www.target.com/Thrift-Shop-Hippie-Chick-Bedding/dp/B000CD1LNU/qid=1212357607/ref=br_1_47/601-4735504-3606564?ie=UTF8&node=13160471&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=13160471&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=1
This one is kinda cool too:
http://www.target.com/Wild-Inspirations-Bedding-Collection/dp/B000PXVM8G/qid=1212357688/ref=br_1_16/601-4735504-3606564?ie=UTF8&node=162287011&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=162287011&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=2
I love this one but it might look too adult for you:
(with pink or brown walls)
http://www.target.com/Tropical-Bedding-Collection-Hibiscus/dp/B000UC1ADY/qid=1212357782/ref=br_1_4/601-4735504-3606564?ie=UTF8&node=162287011&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=162287011&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=6
Another of my favorites with lavender or periwinkle paint:
http://www.target.com/Bedding-Collection-Aqua/dp/B000PH0DGE/qid=1212357836/ref=br_1_8/601-4735504-3606564?ie=UTF8&node=162287011&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=162287011&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=6
This one is unique if you like these colors:
http://www.target.com/Purple-Floral-Bedding-Collection/dp/B00182BXGY/qid=1212357884/ref=br_1_3/601-4735504-3606564?ie=UTF8&node=162287011&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=162287011&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=7
These two have lots of walls colors to choose from:

You could also go with a black and white theme and add pops of color (lime, orange, hot pink) in pillows and accents:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4697954
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4697952
This would look good with lavender walls:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5038648
This would look calm and restful with light aqua walls:
http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_999000VP10960011P?vName=Bed+%26+Bath&cName=Bedding&sName=Bed-in-a-Bag
After you choose a comforter you like and paint the walls, then choose some long sheer curtains that compliment it. I like when the curtains blend into the walls instead of standing out, but that's a personal thing. Don't buy everything at once or it will look too "matchy-matchy" and predictable. Find an old thrift store chair and paint it an accent color (like a bright purple, lime or red) to sit in the corner of your room. String lights on a big tree or around the window for instant romance and be sure to have beautiful lamps on the night tables. Find a small accent rug to put near your bed and a throw blanket to add more color. Take your time and eventually you'll have the room of your dreams.

How to design a beautiful teenage bedroom for a girl?

Fransisca

I am now 18, and I want a new bedroom.
Can somebody tell me how to design a beautiful teenage bedroom for a girl?

Answer
First, you have to decide what kind of themes you like. Think of something like; fresh, or beach, or gothic, or anything.

Then you can start to pick elements that represent it, such as: colour, materials, ornaments, etc.

Pick those elements that suits your needs and the themes. You can make a contrast by each of the elements, but you don't want to have more than 3.

Example: If you want your theme to be fresh, then you want to start gathering colour elements, you can have like pale blue, coral blue, and one as contrast of navy blue. But you don't want to add one more colour like pink, because it makes harder for those element to get united.

Take your time and start exploring your ideas.

I am digging zebra print. I have a comforter picked out but I am open to new ideas. I also need some Inspiration. So if you leave a good answer I will be a fan :)

Answer
If you have a black and white zebra comforter picked out, you need to choose another color to accent with. Pink, orange, turquoise, lime, purple, red...all look good. Paint your walls a light shade of whatever color you choose then start adding that color around your room in accents like pillows, throws, area rugs, candles, flowers, art, and lamps. I wouldn't add too much more of the zebra print, just a little here and there, to keep the bed your focal point. Here are some
pics that might help you visualize better:
You could also paint your room brown like this one if you want a more serene room:

http://nibsblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/opt-sofa-zebra-print.jpg

Somethings you might want to add:

Find accent pillows and area rugs with just a little of the zebra print as a border on it, so as not to overwhelm the bed and use black or a very subtle black and white drapery.

Hope this helped. What you want to keep in mind, I think, is that too much zebra print wouldn't look good. If it's on the bed, use it sparingly around the room.

Dark brown furniture.(bed dresser night stnad) I'm a girl and 13 yers old. please tell me stores that i can find the perfect but cheap bed covers. Include the store name and PICTURES pleaseee. thank you.

Answer
Why not make your own?

Take an existing comforter that you know fits your bed....

Then go to the fabric store and pick out a fabric that you really really like for your bed. Get enough to cover the comforter and to make a few throw pillows and maybe even a couple of curtain panels.

Lay out the fabric...wrong side to wrong side........enough to cover the comforter and leave about a foot of fabric to overlap on the other side....sort of like an envelope.....
then sew up the two sides. Very simple way to make your own comforter.

Then simply slip the old comforter into the new 'pocket' comforter. There you have a brand new comforter.

Very simple.

Then for a pillow.....cut out the shape you want.....(squares or rectangles are easiest) .....sew the wrong side to wrong side leaving a small opening to stuff the pillow.....stuff it ...then sew up the opening.

For the curtains.....fold in about one inch of fabric all the way around the edge....pin it in place... sew it (this is called finishing the fabric so you don't have raw edges of fraying fabric hanging off the edge)......now that your fabric is 'finished'................fold over four inches of fabric .....put a stitch at the top of the curtain one inch from the top............then another one three inches from the top....this will leave a two inch tunnel for the curtain rod to go through.

Save some of your fabric scraps to line the inside of some decorative baskets......now that you know how to sew a few things ...this will be a snap.
Just do like you did for the curtains.... leave a tunnel and put a nylon cording or rope or ribbon through the tunnel to make a draw string deal that you can pull to snug the fabric around the basket.

You can find old sewing machines at flea markets and garage sales and auctions. Learn to use a sewing machine and the sky is the limit on what you can make. You will be shocked at how easy it is to sew and how much money you will save from buying store bought items. They charge way too much for that stuff anyway.

So I'm planning on re-doing my bedroom and for the paint colors I want to do either:

Peach with black and white accents
Peach with brown and white accents
Peach with green and white accents
Lavender with brown and white accents or
Lavender with green and white accents

I don't really want a boring room, I would like the colors to pop. I was also wanting to do a lot of pictures on the walls and a plain white duvet with accent pillows and blankets. What do you think is the best color scheme? Please give advice for any other colors! Thanks!

Answer
I find it much easier to make a beautiful room if I first pick out an inspiration picture I love, then use that as my guideline. That really makes getting your color scheme easy.

Here are some links I thope you will love. The first link is kids to teens, and the second one is adults. If you see some pictures you love, you can save them to a new folder on your computer. Then you can narrow it down finally to one picture.

Bedroom(teenage girl) ideas?

April

I'm not looking at a complete overhaul or anything just a couple accents to go with it.
I have 2 woodstock posters, 1 vintage anti-nuke poster(framed), 2 pkgs of vintage anti-nuke postage framed, a vintage lamp with a small sun on the...uh..stem?, my own art on canvases(I use muted tones and watercolour or vibrant tones and grotesque imagery), my bedspread is floral and my pillows are paisley, I have a TV on an old vintage school desk with a handmade floral table cloth, an easel, a wooden trunk, a wooden captains bed, a vinyl beanbag chair, 2 wooden bookcases, a record player, floral speakers and a wooden night-stand.
My walls are light purple with dark purple edging(that I hate, I was 11 when I picked it), the carpet is grey, and all my furniture is vintage or handmade wooden stuff(with the exception of my easel).
I want ideas for little details to add? Also I'd like to know where to find Rocky Horror Picture Show decorations/furniture?
Oh! I forgot I have a massive Pink Floyd's The Wall poster.

Answer
I am 18 years old, and I have furniture in my bedroom that is worth about $6000, all antiques, decorations are valuable, some very old, it is all up to you. I enjoy antiques, decorations that are nice, religious, or have to do with the environment, such as having flowers on it. It is up to you!

Ideas for a teen girls bedroom?

pinkisluv1

We are moving to a new house in late November to early December. I'm really excited because it's much bigger than the tiny house we live in now....but I don't know what theme to go for when decorating my room. Any suggestions?

Oh if it helps any I am 17 and my favorite color is hot pink. My room right now is a pink, black and white Paris themed room but I'm not sure if I still want that same theme. I kind of want to change it up a little.

Answer
you could paint 1 or 2 walls with chalk board paint ( it comes in Dk green & Black ) then you could draw diffrent things with colored chalk to change it when ever you wanted to It is a artistic touch and you wouldn't be stuck with the same look all the time and you'll find it is fun as well your friends could also help when by you just might really enjoy it

We just built a second story addition to our home, which will be the bedrooms.there is no drywall there yet until we design something. does anyone know where i can get ideas ? we are looking for a contemporary look. ceiling designs with lots of lighting. something very unique. I cant seem to find any websites, and have a lot of books on interior designs. But somehow cant find anything :( room sizes are 20x22 . so we definitly have pleanty of space to do something nice with the ceilings. I appreciate any help.

Answer
how about a vaulted cieling... painting the inside a different color than the rest of the room... Our bedroom is painted a brown/gold color, and the cieling on the inside where its vaulted is painted a deep red color... then we have a beautiful chandelier in the middle. It gives the room alot of depth, and makes it look bigger, and the colors are warm and romantic!

Wall Color Ideas For Black Furniture?

Shopaholic

I'm remodeling my bedroom and I'm about to paint my walls. I have black furniture and I was looking for a paint color to coordinate with that. Any ideas on color for walls, curtains, decor, etc??

Answer
Black, Red, and White: This always adds a classic yet dramatic effect. Paint the walls white, but add bright red stencils and red accents, like small scarlet pillows on the black furniture. Add a modern theme to your room, using these dramatic elements for a neutral-gone-eyecatching setting.

http://teensthemes.com/black-and-white-contemporary-bedrooms.html

Black and Pale Green: Subtle, muted green walls adds an oriental effect to any room that contains black furniture. Add bamboo decorations, low wooden tables, and beautiful pictures of scenery for a jungly-exotic-oriental-calm effect.

http://www.housetohome.co.uk/imageBank/cache/l/LE.0407-118_e_9c53654d7f7c9c72667efde1daba6b35.jpg

Simple Black and White: A classic look without the drama, white walls and black furniture. As Better Home and Gardens says:

"Black and white is a popular contemporary decorating trend. This black-and-white duo is both flirty and sophisticated. Two floor-length mirrors complement the black wood-framed bed and highlight two glass chandeliers. Above the bed, three floating shelves allow for space to display photographs or other favorite accessories.

What We Love: An easy way to add modern and sleek elements to your design is with glass chandeliers. They look fabulous in contemporary settings, and are also an easy way to add youthful elegance to any room."

Go to this link for the full article and pictures: http://www.bhg.com/decorating/room/bedroom/contemporary-bedrooms/

French Accents: Black furniture, honey paneled walls and flooring, with modern and sophisticated accessories and a black iron sleigh bed.

Good Luck, and I hoped that I helped!

I need help on a small bedroom design!?

heheh

They have to share a room.
Either a bunk bed or 2 twin beds.
The room is EXTREMELY small so I need something that will make it look bigger.
I also need some good paint colors.

Answer
I'd do 2 raised day-beds with tons of under-bed storage, so that you don't have to put a lot of other bulky furniture in the room. Also, try not to cover the windows with heavy treatments, if it can be avoided.

EDIT:
Also, painting opposing walls a light shade can give the illusion of having a longer room. The wall that you see whenever you first enter the room should be the brighter color, and the 2 on the other sides should be a muted shade. The wall that the door is on should be a matching lighter color. If they are girls, muted yellow and bright yellow would work well. Keep wall art interesting, but don't use more than 1 or 2 pieces, to keep the look open.

HEEEELLPPPP!! how to design teenage girls small bedroom!!!?

Ma'idah

My room is pretty small.. Something like 3 meters by 4.5.. I've got my single bed, 3 door wardrobe and small bookshelf in there so far and they're all on one of the loger sides of the wall .. I was wondering how do I design this small room without cluttering it with furniture.. The room is quite odd with the panel, ceiling to floor windows in the middle of the 3 meter wide wall.. And there's the door on the opposite.. I currently have a single 4 meter wide waall free /: its too complicated.. How do I make a neat cool organised room out of this small place? And it would be nice if you could attatch websites where I can buy affoardable furniture in the UK..

Thanks a million guys!! :D

Answer
Oh my god, ceiling to floor windows! You're really lucky ;D
Well, I guess you could keep a section of those windows permanently shut and put your desk in front of them so you can always look out on a nice view.
The main thing with tiny rooms is organisation. Also, make sure that you like your room the way it is. A great idea is one of those things that can be used for multiple purposes, eg. under-bed storage, shelves off the walls, and one of those bench-type things that can open up to store stuff. I don't know where you can get those, but keep a look out for them ;D
If you could get stacked pull-out drawers, that could be great too. If there isn't enough space across, then go up!

Happy decorating.

i'm looking for a vintage/romantic/cozy room... what color should i paint the walls?

I would like help!!!
I also live close to the beach, I dont live in the US..I actually live in Acapulco, MX...I just moved here in September, and I kinda want to make it a like american room...not with the american colors but I hope you guys know what I mean!!
and my room is small, its not to big...

Answer
My children are all adults now, but a few cool ideas are:

Painting is the 1st thing you do. Painting is fast and really changes a room. Plus you can change it as often as you want! A quart of paint will cover at least one wall, maybe 2 walls. Painting does not cost very much. Pick two colors you really like and go for it! Anyone can do it.

Putting CD's (or the cases) on the wall is fun. On one wall, I would put straight pins (like used in sewing) in the wall randomly all over the place, then hang a CD on each one. It is also a fun way to store them for easy access. The reason I say straight pins is that they leave almost no mark on the wall when you take them out. (You can get a box of 100 pins for about a dollar).

You can hang anything you are into at the moment on the wall the same way as the CD's. Some ideas of things to hang are:

Boardgames (the empty boxes).
Tee-shirts (that have music groups or places or concerts that you like on them) tack them up with pins.
Skating equiptment ( if you are into skateboarding, hang old skateboards, )
On your wall hang a lot of empty picture frames (with no glass or anything). It looks cool if you have a lot of different sizes and you paint them all different colors. Then after you tack them up, pin little objects in the center of them, like things from the beach, sea shells, a movie tickets, a key chain, a dollar bill ...anything that means something to you or you think is hot.

As for pictures of people (friends, family, movie stars etc) cut them out and attach them like a border around your closet or door or even your window.

Have a solid color bedspread or bed cover so that the room does not feel too busy or cluttered.

Paint your dresser. Wash out some glass jars, different sizes and fill them with things. For example, if you fill one with sand you could use it to put a candle in, or stick pencils in. Another jar can be all shells, or coins or fresh flowers or anything you want to collect. You could set about 4 or 5 of these jars next to each other.

Get a cute lamp. Find something you can use for a table next to your bed. It can be anything, and then cover it with a small table cloth. Remember, if you have a print on your sheet set, you can always buy a spare sheet or pillowcase to use as fabric to decorate other things in your room so they will match.
Good Luck Sweetie and always ask your parents before you do any of these things k.

i love bright colors. and i love having little sayings or words up to encourage. i am thinking about going with kind of a teal color for my room. but i need new bed spread and other ideas on how to decorate my walls. i have a hardwood floor so something that could go with that would be awesome! i love to dance. pictures and links would be amazing! thanks so much!

Answer
1] first, choose comforter/quilt/bedspread you love - buy any matching items [ shams, bedskirt, pillows, curtains ] at same time
2] THEN choose a wall color that matches, complements, or contrasts
3] could do sayings/words:
a] as a border around top of walls
b] as 'frame' for window if you don't use curtains [ shades or blinds instead ], or 'frame' for closet
c] on closet doors
d] calligraphy on parchment paper, framed - peace, hope, joy, love
e] printed or embroidered on decortative pillows
4] dance:
a] mirrored closet doors
b] exercise barre on one wall
c] pointe/ballet.jazz/etc shoes on wall [ real or painted ]
d] framd pics of great dancers/great moves
e] hardwood floor is perfect for a dance room!

i'm 18, and i've had the same bedroom for almost 10 years. the walls are lime green, bright blue, and purple. its a decently sized room, and the carpet is an off white (with many stains...oops!). i have another room attatched to my bedroom (its over the garage) and i painted it a rich red color with zebra pattern painted on the cieling and parts of the wall, so i'm trying to avoid animal print and the color red. i just have absolutely noo idea how to decorate my bedroom. i want either a theme or a color scheme to go off of but i cant come up with anything. i'm not really 'girly' but i'm not a total tomboy either. also, i'm much more of an adult than a kid/teenager, so something more adult, yet, not boring, ya know? any suggestions?

Answer
Looking for fresh design ideas for pretentious and stylish teenage girls? In this post we will try to give a hand. For today weâve gathered together a set of 25 pictures which represent young girlsâ rooms. We tried to do a various selection: we went with some serious and sober interiors, but we also gave a shot to the familiar and very popular pink, orange and red arrangements. All of the rooms are practical, featuring working spaces, small bookcases or shelving systems for books and Cds and beautiful cabinets especially designed for teenage girls. Last but not least, we consider the mirror to be a mandatory item in any girlâs bedroom, so in some of the photos below you will notice they have a special status. Even though not all the room design ideas have a particular theme, the decorating elements are very well interconnected creating interiors that are both functional and aesthetic.

What color to paint my guest bedroom?

Bubblelips

I am looking for a french theme. I have this beautiful canvas painting that is made up of navy blue and light blue (french people dancing) that I want to hang on the wall. What color should I paint the wall that will go with the painting? I do not want to paint the room blue though. The carpet I have is a light brown color. Any suggestions?
Thanks yowza for the link. I'm not keen on yellow but I do like the marshmallow idea. White would look good but I want to see if there are any other colors that would look good first to have a bit of tint to the room. Any more suggestions?
~*Ashley Star*~ I like the red color idea. I will think about that one as well as the the marshmallow idea. Any other suggestions?

Answer
Your right ...yellow is a very contrasting/distracting color. It is too warm of a color for a guest bedroom.

This is a guest room ...so you want colors that will relax and soothe a person who is sleeping in a strange bed in a strange place.

The blue color that you described on the painting is a great start.

Have you thought about a nice soft gray color?

I think a great color scheme would be a dusty brown with medium grays and the blue as an accent color. The brown and gray would be a great neutral pallet with the blue standing out as refreshing burst of color.

I would paint the walls in a soft gray ....then use the brown in bedding, rugs and throw pillows....then add a few gray throw pillows with one or two blue ones to the bed.

Save some gray paint to paint some furniture accent pieces to put in the corner of the room.

Get some French style lamps to put on the bedside tables and paint them in the brown or gray color. Add some blue fringe to the lamp shade to match the blue in your painting.

A dress form with a formal French style gown on it would look nice as a decorative piece.

A small table with a French teapot and teacups for two would be very romantic to put on a small table below your painting. (As if the people will come out of the painting to have their tea at any moment.)

Lots of ideas are out there in the French Provencial design style.

Interesting story ideas? Thanks?

Jillian

Something a bit crazy, romantic and mysterious. Maybe based on a life situation. Something completely different. Thanks! (no rude comments, thanks)

Answer
The last night of my life was eventful. I tended to the horses though my father thought it beneath me. It was uncomfortable job whiles wearing a fine gown and a corset. A carriage pulled up out side the manor. I watched my father approach the carriage as a young man stepped out. He was dressed finely with a long velvet cloak with a hood that looked like it was more used to keep the rain off his hair rather than to keep him warm. Father and he talked before father made a gesture to invite the young man inside. I watched until they were inside before I slipped in through the side door and ran to my bedroom were i changed. The stranger was unbelievably beautiful. He was paler than the midnight moon but just as enchanting, his eyes were such a light gray they were almost invisible (except the pupils, of course) and his long hair, which was tied with a blood-red ribbon, was as black as night. He sat almost lazily yet he looked elegant and as grand as a prince.
I made my entrance and the strangerâs eyes flickered with a red fire when they rested upon me. He stood and bowed as he took my hand and pressed his cold lips upon the back of my hand. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up on end, warning me the young stranger was dangerous. He straightened and watched me.
âMy sweet, this young gentleman is Theron.â father said with absolutely no interest whatsoever. âhe is travelling and needed a place to stay for a night or two.â I looked at my father for just a moment before my eyes wandered back to Theron. He was smiling slightly as if a secret was hiding behind those deep and aged eyes.
âWhere are you travelling to, sir?â I asked politely but my tone was cool.
âI hoped to visit an old acquaintance.â he answered. âfortunately, I started my journey a day earlier than planed.â
I had nothing more to say so I looked at my father. âwill our guest be dining with us? Or is he to eat in the guest room?â I asked for the sake of something to say. Father looked at Theron who smiled.
âI am not hungry.â he said. âbut I thank you.â I gave him a nod to show I had acknowledged the thanks. âin fact, I would appreciate it if you would excuse me and show me to my room.â
âDarling, could you. . ?â father began but I was already leading Theron to the room.
I returned to my room after I had dined with my father, and I began to change into my night dress. I thought I was alone and I therefore was surprised when a voice from the window said âyou have a beautiful body, miss Radella.â I gasped and span around but there was no one there. I heard a soft laugh and I felt lips against my neck. My breathing became harsh and ragged as I felt hands on my hips which slid up and across over to the place just under my breasts but not quite upon my flat stomach. âYou must leave.â I pleaded breathlessly as he nipped my earlobe and ran his fingers along my neck. His ghostly chuckle made my heart miss a beat.
âYour mouth says one thing but your body. . .â he kissed my neck while his hand moved down my body and passed my stomach. I bit back a moan. âyour body is saying another.â
âThen, please sir, listen to what my lips may speak.â I whispered.
âThere is no need to be so formal, Radella.â he breathed. âmy name is Thoren.â
âGoâ I ordered. He left and I climbed into bed.

I was asleep for, perhaps, an hour before I felt him crawling on top of me, under the quilt, and his body on mine. I gasped and ran my hands up his shirt and up his cold hard stomach. He hovered over me and I saw his face. The mouth that was his had two fangs retracting from his gums, it was then did I understand that he was not a creature of God but a creature born of lust and blood. He kissed me from my stomach, slowly travelling up to my neck and I let him take me. It was forbidden for a young woman, like me, to do something so dishonourable, to have a lover, but I did not care. He was my first which meant some pain on my part and proved that I was a good girl. Usually.
Then he bit into my neck and sucked on the wound, drinking my blood. He made me drink his too. I knew it was wrong but the pleasure made it worth it. Once we were done, he left me in my room feeling exhausted but content. I drifted off to sleep with the image of me, a redhead with dark blue eyes, beside the beautiful Theron. My Prince of The Shadows.
And that was the night I died.

* * *

that's all i got so far. use it and put it in your own words. I'd rather you did not use my words but you can still use this. i hope it helped.
xxx S.K.Foan. (I'm not joking, Foan is really my last name. my mum was going to call me Micro. say them together.)

Teen Girl Bedroom Decor Help??!!!?

Q. I have been trying to come up with some themes on the Internet, but I can't seem to find anything. What I want is, I would like to have a mature look, but also a creative look too. Any Ideas??

Answer
A few universal decorating tips for any age or style:

Include organizational and storage strategies...and keep things clean and tidy.
Include seating, workspace and accessories that go with the particular task, and appropriate lighting...and make them easy as possible to use.
Keep items in good repair, tables don't wobble, electronics that work.

When you want to work in a trend or experiment with a decor idea, do it in a small or temporary way.

Even on a budget, include one thing, even if it has to be a tiny thing, that is the very best out there. If it isn't a crystal chandelier, maybe it is a crystal figurine, or a single crystal hanging from the center of a bare window. You may not be able to surround yourself with big luxuries but you can sprinkle in small ones.

OK teen girl, usually that means you want color and some edge/funk, and most teen girls are on the run from the little girl look. You haven't given us enough detail about you, only enough to stuff you into the teen girl stereotype. But even when I was thinking about that, several stereotypes came to mind. Since I can't help you with details here are some more principles.

While you want the room to be yours now, remember you need to give it back to your parents soon. Maybe even before that, you want your options open to change with your different interests and tastes within the teen years.

What I would do is ask your parents what THEY want the room for when you are gone. Accept that you are just passing through, even that you may have changing tastes while you are there. If there is any remodeling going on, include that vision of the future room. They should be allowed to choose to add to the architecture of the space in a way that upgrades the value of the home, such as with moldings and built-ins. While they should be installed to meet your needs, they need to be versatile enough to meet theirs in the future. These decisions won't affect the look you want.

With paint, this is a place to go nuts and pick whatever you want, you can paint over it when the time comes. Don't forget different finishes of paint, like matte and gloss and semi gloss, you can do a really classy stripe with two finishes even if they are identical colors, very mature even in a hip or trendy color. OR you can do a mural or an abstract, or whatever suits you.

You can also do your own thing with accessories, such as bedding, slipcovering, throw pillows, table items, storage boxes.

As you decorate this time around, keep things simple so that you can stay versatile. With a simple inventory, that is fewer things, more basic patterns, less intricate solutions, you can come up with a few different ways to rearrange the space and repurpose your items...this will help get you through your teen years without looking at the same old stuff in the same old place.

Got any bedroom decor ideas?

Lil Red

I've been wanting to jazz up my bedroom for ages now but I never have any money to go buy things that cost way more then they're worth. So if you have any DIY ideas or know of any DIY blogs please comment. I love making things and doing a bit of crafts. *side note* I love the gypsy style. If it has bright colours, bells or ribbons I'm all over it.

Answer
if i were u,i would splash paint all over my wall but sadly, that could be dangerous as there is no guarantee that it will turn out well.

what you COULD do is get ordinary paint, normal furniture and paint it all colourful. try out red, white and pink roses like this:
http://img3.etsystatic.com/014/0/6313612/il_340x270.411078891_qnv1.jpg
or you could try this:
http://cdn.followpics.com/show/190628996696844982_WgKN1JCp_c.jpg
hope you're a good artist... :)

it would do well to paint your room a bright pink and add some brown to reduce the girly-girl effect and it's time you bought some junk jewellery to display in your room.

all the best!!!! hope u have fun...

Teenage room color scheme?

M&M

So Im a teenager and im moving to a new house, and the walls are cement, etc. everything is ready we just have to choose a color or colors to paint my room. The bed, desk and the basic furniture are all black (should i change it to white?) Anyways, i want to paint my room with lots of colors, i want to make it very colorful, like one wall purple, one blue, pink, yellow, gray, etc. I need some ideas on what colors to choose.... And if u have any pictures of rooms please put the link.
Thanks!

Answer
Best to paint one wall in your fave color as your accent wall and the remaining walls a bright color. Then add colorful decor. Too many bold colored walls can make a room look child-like. -wish I knew if you were a guy or girl ?

For ex. an aqua room with purple accent wall and black furniture

Place your bed on the purple accent wall http://www.pampai.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Dazzling-purple-and-turquoise-bedroom-with-white-vinyl-wall-sticker-424x450.jpg

Cute ways to decorate a 13 year old girls bedroom?

Autumn Cha

Hi! (: So I'm looking for some cute ways to decorate my room because I'm really sick of it. My room still has the same fairy wall paper from when I was like 5 and I hate it, but theres nothing i can do about it. My room recently just repainted my room but she didn't take down the wall paper. I really want to make it look nice and not like a 5 year old girls room. Heres some of the things I like : I love a lot of color
I love Hollister and other stuff like that
I love makeup
I love pink and purple and black
Any ideas? Thanks (:
*My mom painted my room xD

Answer
I'm 13. I just painted my walls. one is black. one is dark blue. one is neon green with paint fliinged on it. one is also blue, but it's covered in posters. on the blue and black walls i painted/glued pics of spaceships, planets, astronauts, aliens, etc. on the other wall, the plain one, i have tons of posters- tv shows, video games, educational, pretty, motivational, etc as well as pics of my pets/friends. the neon green wall has other spare colors flinged all over it wildly. i did this w my frends, loads of fun. my ceiling is calm blue with white "clouds' painted on (it looks pretty horrible, but i like it.)

COMPLETE BEDROOM MAKEOVER!!?

Selena

So, I need like a complete makeover for my bedroom. My mom and I moved out of my dad's a few months ago (well, more like a lot of a few, lol) The things I moved here were basically "little girl" stuff and I'm very well grown out of that stuff. I'm trying to actually put together my room now. I could only bring a limited supply of things because I still have to go from my mom's to my dad's and back. Now, I would really want to buy things from for ex. http://www.PBTeen.com/ or http://www.wakeupfrankie.com/ but, it's a little pricey. Do you know of any websites somewhat like those or just any other websites or stores (Preferably retail stores, in Colorado) that would sell stuff like that, that I could buy for my room?!? Also, I wanted to get some wallpaper because I can't paint the walls due to the fact that we are renting the place. First, I wanted damask wallpaper with a gold/metallic look. Than, I saw some wallpaper that was really, really cute that was still damask but, it was like a silver in the background and a hot pink (hot pink is my favorite color next to black and purple if that helps) in the ?damaskian things?? (haha IDK what there called, sorry) but, it was VERY pricey!! Oh, I forgot to put that what I think would be really convenient is that "Sleep + Study Loft" from PB Teen since my room is kind of small but, it's VERY expensive!! If there is something very very similar to that anywhere thats cheaper, please let me know!! And my budget.. Usually it would probably be around $500 at the most but, I'm sure I could squeeze about $1,000-$2,000 out of my dad because he just wants me to feel comfortable at my mom's because he understands that I'm not a big fan of where my mom lives. (So, obviously I'm not going to want to spend all of that on just my bed/desk) But, I would want that bed/desk though because I've really wanted a bunkbed and I don't have a desk yet soo.. yea. Thx!! Sorry this is so long!

Answer
Hey I live in Colorado too! I'm in the middle of re-decorating my rooms (Well my bedroom and my game room and bathroom) I would check furniture row (I don't know where you live but there's one really north on I25. I live in Boulder so I shop at McGuckin a lot, but if your more south or east... Then look for furniture rows/ american furniture warehouse near you. And check the lease to make sure the owners would be ok with you putting up wallpaper (We don't let our tenants do that because its a hassle taking down and sometimes the renters take it down themselves and wreck it when the leave. Well I should say my mom's renters do that, but whatever.) Heres a couple ideas but keep in mind you won't get exactly what you want... I did the best I could.

http://www.afwonline.com/furniture/bedroom/beds/bunk-beds/loft-bunk-workstation-70-loft

Another idea you may want to look into is a captains bed. It saves rooms (The dresser is underneath)
http://www.furniturerow.com/BedroomExpressions/Inspirations-Bedroom-Group/Inspirations-Full-Captains-Bed/prod530490/

Another idea is you could have someone build it for you. My friend wanted something like what you want and her dad built it for her and its so much cuter than what is in magazines.

Sorry, but theres nothing exactly like what you want. Unless you want to spend $1800 on a bed.

Teenage Girl Bedroom Ideas?

cheerleade

I'm moving and we are building a brand new house on a lake and I get to design my own room. When we move I will be a freshman in high school so it has be so I can keep it all through high school. I'm into cheerleading, volleyball, music, and fashion. I like most colors, oh and my bed is in the shape on a circle but, I might get a new one.
I was also thinking about maybe doing a light purple, light gray, and white/black color scheme.

Answer
when i was entering my teenage/highschool years the mistake i made was decorating my room in alot of black with like tan walls, it had a very nice, classy, feel to it (it wasnt like gothic black, just classy black. lol if that makes sense.) and i loved it for about a year and a half but when you do a room in dark colors you begin to wish you had painted in a pastel or something like that. whenever ive had a bad day i just want to go straight to my room and chill and when your room is all dark colors, it doesnt really lift your mood. i would suggest (for an older teenage look) i would go with either a light purple, light blue, or light yellow(my favorite), and accent it all with white :) it will be gorgeous and you wont regret it :)
if you DO end up going with darker colors though would definitely accent with a light purple or yellow or something like that :)
i would go with pink. i think you WILL regret that. and if you love pink and want SOMETHING to be pink then maybe do your bathroom or your closet in pink :)

Wall designs for a teenage girl's bedroom?

joejona

My rooms a medium shade of purple, I have a few posters and I just recently painted the phrase "live laugh love" on one of my walls and the word "dream" over my bed. But I want to do more. The paints I have are silver, purple, pink and yellow and i have little tubes of other colors. I don't really want anymore quotes or sayings, but a cool design that's easy to paint by myself would be nice. Plus, I also have a few old polka dotted goodie bags and I used one to cover my windowsill, which looks really cute, but I still have two bags left. Where else could I put them? So, if you could please suggest a cool, easy wall design and another item to decorate with polka dots, that would be great :)
By the way, I'm not really into flowers and butterflies, but I'm nowhere near "punk" either...so something simple but cute.
I can't paint stripes or polka dots or anything that I would have to do for the entire room. I want something easy to paint for just one wall.

Answer
i think medium purple. silver and dark purple would be the best color combos for a teen.why dont you get some antique looking lamps from a thrift store, spray pant them silver and glue some material onto the shades you could use painters tape to paint some stripes on ur walls you could do them very. at walmart they have wall boarder stencils. you could also cover just one wall with some different stamps. there are an endless variety of stamps at Micheals craft store. Or u could get some really cheap wooden picture frames and spray paint them silver and put pictures of all ur friends, family members, pets, and places u've been or want to go. then hang them up on ur wall. u could do them kind of abstract and random or do a grid pattern or hang them in a straight line along the middle of ur wall

Decorating ideas for boys and girls sharing a bedroom?

Dragonfly

I am a teenage girl sharing a bedroom with kid brother. Really, really want to redo our room but can't find any unisex decorating ideas that aren't aimed at really little kids. This is like a 14 year old freshman girl and a 10 year old, 4th grade boy, both very mature. We want something that will make the room a pleasant, comfortable space for both of us. It sucks to share a room, but I think it will be easier if we design it well. Any ideas are appreciated. Links are awesome. Thank you guys SOOO much!!! :)
yeah, i know we are old to be sharing but some people just cant afford big houses with separate rooms for each kid
Thank you so much, "someone somewhere" :) I loved the links!! The room is 12 by 9 feet i think. We have bunkbeds, two dressers, a bookshelf, and a desk. It is pretty cramped but i am totally willing to get rid of things, consoladate, switch stuff out, etc. We are pretty open as far as color schemes go. We both like blue, green, gray, white, purple..

Again, thank u so much!

Answer
If you did a room themed like Feng Shui which is like a tranquil Japanese style....you could use rice paper dividers for privacy, it would be modern, mature, and unisex.

Ideas:

If you want a different theme and want me to design you a room tell me which pictures you like from this link:

If you want I can design a room for you....just edit your question and tell me any ideas or other necessities such as one or two beds....different themes....fave colors....etc.

EDIT: heres your room...i didnt go with the feng shui because I liked this room better....if you scroll down the right side...there are links to most all of the products I used. here you go! enjoy!

Paint ideas for shared boy/girl bedroom?

Melissa144

We have boy/girl twins who are three and are moving into a new house where they will share a 17x10 room with a ceiling that is on the low side. I don't want to make the room too busy but I'd love to incorporate two different colors (they are asking for blue and purple). They are still in small toddler beds that are white and the room has nice white chunky base molding and framing around the windows and doors.

One thing I have seen and lived was a room with very high chair molding to separate two colors: a nice green on the bottom and yellow on the top of the wall and the entire ceiling. Made the room look larger but not colors my kids love. Wondering if anyone has seen or done something creative in this situation? Thanks!

Answer
What about light blue and light purple? Maybe paint 2 walls in their color choices and the other two walls in a soft white so it's not too dark?
