What are some fun crafts you can make that can use to decorate your room?

Kayla

I recently got into making my own furniture and decor for my bedroom lately. I realized it saves a lot of money and its make your room more personal. So I wanted to know if you guys had any cool ideas of some useful things to make that can go in my room???!!!

Answer
Try a chair covered with a soft, washed denim fabric. Use denim accents in the room, such as trimming a group of red pillows with fat denim cording.

You can even use a denim look to cover the walls. There are paint techniques for chambray and denim-look walls, which will be a perfect accent to a room with a cowboy theme or for a young lady who is crazy about horses.

Denim is a fabric that immediately imparts the feeling of comfort, so it is perfect for bedrooms in particular. Use denim comforters and pillow shams. You can even find chambray sheets and matching curtains.

Try using an old ragged pair of jeans to make valances for the windows, or dress up your curtains with chintz covered cornices.

Keep your walls in the neutral family of colors. Try soft camel beige or a subtle yellow. Pine furniture works well, or you can paint your old wooden furniture in light golden tones.

Furniture that is more casual than formal works better for this particular style. Other teen room decorating ideas to choose from are:

Garden styles. Use floral prints, upholstered furniture, floral area rugs, and balance the look with plain walls, floors, and curtains.

Casual styles. These include rustic themes, sports, nautical, particular hobbies, Americana . . . the possibilities are limitless. For example, a style could be developed around a collection of autographed baseballs, teapots, wooden duck decoys, trophies, art posters, etc.

Decorating with black and white. This style uses black as an anchor to set off a dramatic decorating look.

This teen room decorating idea is for the drama queen or king teenager in your household. Use a black and white floor, crisp white linens and comforters, and upholstered chairs. Set off the black with accents in red or warm gold, but be sure to pick up the black and white theme in lamps, pillows, picture frames, and other elements of the room.

Contemporary styles. These dictate clean lines, sculptural furniture, high ceilings, and geometric artwork.

Make use of brick walls and ceiling pipes. Avoid anything with floral patterns, ruffles, carvings, or traditional details. You are aiming for the look of an art or museum gallery, utilizing a bold, creative, and sculptural style.

Cottage style. This teen room decorating idea works especially well for teenage girls' rooms. Plaid or country-style fabrics work well with white furniture and rustic accent pieces. This style can transform a bedroom into a mini-vacation spot!

European or Parisian style. This is a glamorous style that invokes old world sophistication. It uses furniture and accent pieces from the rococo, baroque, neoclassical to the more modern art deco and cabaret designs.

Your main colors are black, white, and gold, with jewel tones as accents. Choose vintage-style furniture, such as a black or cream painted dresser with gold accents. Fabrics include silks and brocades. For fun, add a few vintage posters of old Parisian nightclubs, French train station signs, and black wrought iron shelves and tables.

The list of possibilities is endless. Find a good time to sit down and go over these teen room decorating ideas, and soon you will find yourself and your teenager working together to reinvent their bedroom.

How Can I do an ocean theme master bedroom on a budget?

beautiful master bedroom ideas
on Beautiful Lighting In Master Bedroom Master Bedroom Ideas For A ...
beautiful master bedroom ideas image

Forever Mi

We are planning on redesigning our master bedroom with an ocean/lake theme.
The walls for sure are going to be teal and white stripes with white trim.
We also plan on getting some shelves to put up, to put some little knik-knacks on.

The bed is oak and the bedding is navy on one side and baby blue on the other. We also have a black black-out curtain, so we can sleep in.

anything else we can do?

Answer
Wall murals are one of my favorite bedroom design ideas as it's a very inexpensive way to create your own fantasy island. You can find them as wide as 10.5 feet and 8 feet tall. Here's a couple links with teal colored water. Also consider smaller murals with portholes for windows or windows that look out onto water.

Another idea would be to hang a canopy over the bed made out of cotton duck or sail cloth. It could be attached to a wooden dowel and hung from the ceiling with rope. You may find a bargain this time of year on an outdoor canopy that can be hung in a wave like pattern, going from high to low to simulate sails or rolling waves.

If you have enough room why not use a beautiful outdoor lounge chair to go with your ocean theme. Think cruise ship luxury. Consignment shops may have some really cool old looking ones too for next to nothing.

Also, look for nautical lamps or light fixtures, again consignment shops are a great place to scout out bargains.

I need advice about interior decorating with dark chocolate wood floors?

Rose

My boyfriend and I have bought an old house with beautiful dark chocolate wood floors. Only problem is the walls are green... First job is to paint the master bedroom which is quite small but cozy. I have a similar coloured dark bed which we will be using. I was after some ideas as to what we could do with paint or wallpaper? Are feature walls popular in bedrooms?
Our tastes are quite simple, nothing too extravagant to go with a humble little house.

Hi,

Any tips for how to decorate a small bedroom for a single guy who wants the room to have an exotic, but simple theme thats kinda hot and intimate for female visitores???

Thanks
also what about a bed frame which is more sexy wood or iron (iron could obviously be more fun) use your imagination

Answer
Put away the "lost & found" box. The one with all the panties, lipsticks, and abandoned single earrings.

On a serious note, get some live plants, orchids are nice.

Find a piece so odd that the girls will have to ask about it. Then you can tell them how you found it buried while you were digging the foundation for an orphanage in Zamunda during some volunteer work.

How to decorate my bedroom for a teenage girl?

Q. I'm moving into a different bedroom soon and can redo it. The doors and trim are light/medium brown and the carpet is tan. I can paint the walls and get new furniture and stuff and I need to figure out a theme. I wanted to do an all white theme, but would that be weird with the brown and tan doors and carpet? (I can't paint the doors or change to carpet) or is the white theme lame? If so what are some other cool themes or color schemes? Thaaanks!

Answer
The all white bedroom is a great idea. Even with the bit of brown/tan you can still make this room relaxing and calm.
Here is an example :http://www.flickr.com/photos/melissm2007/4391887998/in/photostream/
You can use natural fiber headboard and add pieces like that to your room.

How should I decorate my little girl's bedroom?

Sophie Ier

I am needing decoration idea's for my little girl's room. In 4 months I will be giving birth to another girl and they will be sharing rooms. I need it to be suitable both for my unborn baby and my 2 year old. Serious answers only please.

Answer
Hi Sophie,
Congratulation on the upcoming birth of your 2nd daughter! Because your girls are close in age the decorating theme you choose will work for both. The colors that work well in girls rooms are Pink White and Green. The themes oh, are so many to choose from. You could design the room in Tinkerbell, little Princesses theme or Garden themes with all butterflies and flowers or Winnie the Pooh and so on. Space is always a thought, and how best to utilize it is a common concern. If your daughter(s) room is square I would suggest that two walls have one daughters area of bed bureau etc, and the next two walls have baby's things crib, changing table and so forth. Keeping the center space open of the room for your 2 year old to play. Happy Decorating!

How can I make my bedroom cozier and prettier?

Zoe

I am 13yr old girl and I want to make my bedroom feel like a place I actually want to hang out in because at the moment it is sort of boring. But the problem is I can't paint the walls and I only have a budget of about $50. I want to make it indie or vintage looking.

Answer
It's always fun redecorating! :) I hope you're able to find some things you like that are within your budget. Here are some answers and ideas I found online that should help you out. Good luck!

Idea 1: Hobby Lobby has beautiful vintage looking stuff. They are always having sales!

Idea 2: DIY lacy/doily lamps! (it's the second link below)

Idea 3: They have cute scrapbook boxes at AC Moore ( www.acmoore.com) and you can stuff almost anything in them. I have about 4 and they're helpful and come in a variety of colors. I always think a painting or 2 make a room look nice. You can also find some removable wall stickers at most art stores, but I'm not so sure about the price. For the furniture, pick a color you like and make sure they contrast. Like, don't pick dark brown furniture with a gray comforter.

Idea 4: Animal prints, polka dots, stripes, or retro would all look pretty good. Just pick your favorite them and go with it.

Happy decorating!

How to design a beautiful teenage bedroom for a girl?

on girls pink bedroom ideas decorating decor styles designs themes ...
bedroom designs for girls in pink image

Fransisca

I am now 18, and I want a new bedroom.
Can somebody tell me how to design a beautiful teenage bedroom for a girl?

Answer
First, you have to decide what kind of themes you like. Think of something like; fresh, or beach, or gothic, or anything.

Then you can start to pick elements that represent it, such as: colour, materials, ornaments, etc.

Pick those elements that suits your needs and the themes. You can make a contrast by each of the elements, but you don't want to have more than 3.

Example: If you want your theme to be fresh, then you want to start gathering colour elements, you can have like pale blue, coral blue, and one as contrast of navy blue. But you don't want to add one more colour like pink, because it makes harder for those element to get united.

Take your time and start exploring your ideas.

What are some colors that would go with a soft pink for a teenage girls room?

Kelly

My room is already painted a soft pink. I need different color/colors to go with it. I thought of pink and brown but I need more ideas. It would be awesome if you included a bed spread and matching decor. I will give a best answer. Thanks!

Answer
these are in order of difficluty:

The most classic design would be to use a light cream color for your accessories.. pink walls with cream colored drapes and bedspread. It would be calming and peaceful, great for a bedroom. You could liven it up a bit with texture and finish options. I assume the walls are eggshell so you could find a somewhat shiny bedroom set

A dark warm brown with a lot of red tint would also work but it would be a lot harder to find the color and it would be more difficult to accessorize.

If you wanted you could mix in that dark brown color and the cream color but keep the brown things small, like doing the pink and cream for everything and then brown pillow shams.

You could make more of a barbie style room if you found a purple with a lot of gray in it.

Another option would be to stick with the same color but find really bold versions of it.

~whatever you do you'll want to see the color in the room before you commit.

We have a 4 year old girl, 2 year old boy and 11 month old girl. Pictures would be great to get some ideas!

Answer
Crib for the 11 month old, bunk beds for the 4 and 2 year old. 2 year old gets the bottom bed. Paint the room a gender neutral color, like yellow or a creme color. One side is for the girls to keep their things and the other is for the boy. Get separate trunks for their toys and let them help decorate too. Separate closets if available, if not, divide it equally, one side for each. Make sure there are no heavy items that can fall on the children. Bolt them down if necessary. Install child safety locks on drawers and doors if necessary. Kids are curious and will inevitably get into trouble at some point. Good luck.

Girl and boy sharing bedroom decorating advice?

Sierra L

My two kids. are 7 year olds and will be sharing a room. One a girl and one a boy. What are some cute bedroom sets that will go together well or were meant to be together, that will look great in their room.

Answer
I wouldn't go with a theme, I would make it colorful, like paint the walls and have neutral curtains and light fixtures but I would be sure that they each had a shelf or some kind of storage to call their own that they can have their things on. I would keep the bedspreads the same color but put pillows and little touches that are different on the beds. For example, a red ladybug pillow for her and a red car pillow for him. The ideas are endless in my head right now. I'm sure you'll come up with something great and they'll love it. Take care.

For those who have been there, whats good and whats bad? how are the rooms?

Answer
This is a wonderful vacation spot!!
Perfect location, helpful staff, across the street from the beach, beach goodies and a wagon available from the activity center, activities for adults and children!!
We had a one bedroom with a full kitchen and a fabulous view.
The location is also marvelous--walking distance to get to the Coaster to get to San Diego, minutes away to get to all kinds of shopping (Costco, outlet mall, restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, etc...), and freeway close to many attractions--perfect!
The lobby area is also very welcoming with coffee, tea, and fruit for the guests.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW right off Carlsbad Blvd!

I celebrated an early Father's Day / Birthday here last weekend and fell in love with Carlsbad. We had a 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo. it comes with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, dish washer, cookware, silverware and glassware), and a patio facing the ocean. The VIEW from our room was AMAZING! the ocean was mysterious and deep blue, the sun was shiny and warm, the sea breeze was warm and welcoming - everything was so perfect!

The decor of the condo is a little out of date (e.g. pastel wall border stickers & mint color carpet). The bath tub is a little small. Wish there is more than 1 pool table because it is always taken. But these are minor problems and can be fixed easily.

The rate for a 1br / 1ba condo ranges from $239 ~ $359 per night.

I will definitely come back again for special occasions.
I stayed here for a nice get away while staying local. I had a two bedroom with a full kitchen and a little patio that faced the ocean. This is a real nice place. It has a club house, a gym, two pools (one for adults only) and a fun play area for kids that includes a pirate ship and a little water theme area.

It's located right across the 101 from the ocean, so beautiful views! There is no restaurant but since you have a kitchen you can drive across the I-5 to the Costco or down the road to the Ralph's. They also have a basket ball court, tennis courts, pool and ping pong table on the bottom floor.

The only reason this place didn't get a 5 star rating is because my unit was on the back end of the resort which is facing the Coaster train track (a little noisy) and we were situated right next to the club house which is used for weddings on the weekend. And yes, you guessed right, there was a wedding on the Sunday we checked in. It was a little loud.

I also hear that if you are a owner at this timeshare, you can rent the clubhouse for around $100 or $200! That is a steal! The Clubhouse faces the Ocean and the pool area. Nice location for a casual wedding.

So check on their nightly rates if you are coming to the area because this is a pretty good location. I called the front desk to get an idea of rates and I was told the nightly rate can range from $239 a night during spring and upwards of $300 during peak season. But considering this is for a 2bd/2bath, full kitchen, ocean view, that is pretty good. Across from the ocean, minutes from the freeway, one exit from the Carlsbad Outlet Mall and down the 101 from the quaint little town of Carlsbad.
I stayed here in July of 2009 with my two little girls, ages 3 and 6. We had a one bedroom condo, so they slept on the sleeper sofa and I got my own bed. While not luxurious, the accommodations were nice. Perfect for the beach. We had a great view of the ocean from our balcony and a fireplace in the living room. Every morning we would go down to the activity center and pick up a radio flyer wagon, fill it with towels, buckets, and shovels and head off to the beach. My six year old would pull my 3 year old in the wagon across the highway, which sounds scary, but there is a light so it's quite safe. The hotel had events like making snores and a poolside BBQ with live music, at little or no cost. They also offered inexpensive crafts for the kids ($1-$3), and my kids had a great time doing those. I would have come here again this year, but was unable to trade my timeshare, and this year we're at the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort, which is okay, but I prefer the Seapointe.

Our 2 sons graduate next month from H.S. How long do we have to throw a party?

paddlingli

We are finishing a very, very long house remodel.

What we have is goregous. A new kitchen, tile, carpet in the bedrooms, finished bedrooms - all gorgeous.

But, don't have furniture. Two of the bathrooms aren't finished, one has no shower door or toilet; our bathroom has no toilet, tub or shower. And, the front yard is not landscaped

There are no window treatments on any of the windows except the kids' bedrooms, not even ours (thank God for large trees!);

Only the bedrooms and the front room have furniture and the furniture in the front room is ready for the curb.

We feel pressured. We want the party, but we feel rushed.

We want to wait, but if we do, we'll end up with a house party and no graduation ceremony. Maybe no party!

Any ideas? Nothing with the big bucks please, we don't live in the O.C.

Thank you.
Our hallway bath is in full working order, tub/shower/toilet/sink, it's just the old part of the house, no remodeling done, but it can be polished up.

Answer
What's the object of the party? Is it to show off your possessions? Is it to ensure that everyone sees how "beautiful" everything is? Or is it to celebrate your child's accomplishment? What is more important to you?

Guests won't care if the house isn't finished. I've gone to parties at unfinished homes, and we had fun. Just explain ahead of time that the house is in disarray, but that you want to do something to mark your child's milestone. Get a port-a-potty if necessary. But don't delay the party just because your house isn't in order.

My mother always told us to put people before things. I think she is a smart woman. So I'm telling you the same thing.

I am moving at the end of the month and I get to do my room over, I love the color purple and would like to paint my walls that color but I need some ideas what could I put on the wall. I'm putting some pictures up of my friends and family and hopefully white Christmas lights. If you have any ideas please let me know! Thanks.

Answer
purple is a great color but you want a bright purple verses a dark purple

I think I would put some paint clip colors on the wall and you could look at different colors in the light and dark...you can get the free color paint strips at lowes or home depot..on of them have the Disney colors which give you the accent colors and that makes it easy

you need a wall color and then I would keep the ceiling and baseboards white to not close in the room

less is best, so it is clean

enlarged photos 8x10 framed in black and using black as an accent color would look sharp mature and perfect in any décor color later

but pets and family and friends all could be a wall

a wall with framed certificates you earned

no poster they make the room look cheap

a bed a night stand and lamp and desk and extra lighting..

around the desk a memo board and calendar...

no dresser they take up to much space and hold junk..hang everything in the closet and use baskets on a shelf..

a fake ficus tree with little lights and a timer work well for always having lights on when you come in at dark

a starburst chain is fun to make and looks cool draped on the tree or around your room

origami balloons over the lights

How to decorate my bedroom for a teenage girl?

kenglish99

What are some good ideas to "stage" a home that is for sale?

beautiful bedroom paint ideas
on Ideas Painting Bedroom on Beautiful Bedroom Paint Ideas With Luxurious ...
beautiful bedroom paint ideas image

Jade

I am packing everything personal up,cleaning and organizing but I need some simple and elegant ideas to "stage" the home so that it is more appealing to buyers.

Answer
1. Clean - it is the most important step. Make sure every nook and cranny of your home is spotless. This also includes cleaning out your garage if you have one.

2. De-clutter - Not only should you remove obvious clutter (like papers strewn on a desk) but you have to think about furniture as well. Too often people have too much furniture in a room. It makes the room appear small. If, for example, you are 2 dressers in your bedroom, pare it down to one. Put the other dresser and contents not used currently (season clothing) into storage.

An often missed area for decluttering,is the inside of dressers, cabinets, and closets. Hard to believe that some buyers would look in your dressers since they are not buying them but they do. They are also trying to assess if they will have enough cabinet storage and closet space. If your cabinets are chock full of stuff, it gives them the impression that they will not have enough storage if they buy the house.

In the kitchen, don't forget that decluttering also means clearing off countertops as much as possible. If you don't eat toast everyday, pack the toaster away. Same goes for other kitchen appliances that we may keep on the counter for convenience even though we don't use them daily. (Pack away that electric can opener and use a hand held one until you sell the house.)

3. Deodorize - Make sure your house smells fresh, clean and inviting. This may mean spraying Febreeze on your sofa, drapes, etc. You can add pleasant odors with candles and/or fresh baked goods.

4. De-personalize - Pack away personal items like family photos. Replace them with neutral art work. You want prospective buyers to see themselves living in your home, not your family.

5. Neutralize - It may be time to paint that gorgeous red wall beige. Though it may go well with your decor and taste, remember that not all buyers make like what you've selected. If you go with neutral wall colors, again it makes it easier for the potential buyer to see him/herself living in your space. This also includes rooms that are very masculine or feminine. It may work better for you if you replace your beautiful floral bedspread with something that is more gender neutral.

6. Update/Modernize - You don't have to spend a lot of money here but you should look at things like lighting. Are your bathroom lights for example current looking or do they scream 1970s-80s? Same goes for kitchen, dining and hallways. For a few bucks, you can make a huge impact for the positive.

7. Curb Appeal - Don't forget that a lot of buyers will not come into your home, no matter how great it looks on the inside, if they are not impressed with the exterior. Again, this can be accomplished on the cheap. Cut the lawn, pull the weeds, remove dead plants, plant pretty potted flowers and put them on the porch, paint the front door if necessary.

How dated are your exterior light fixtures? Again, something newer but not necessarily expensive could make a world of difference.

Buy a nice new welcome mat to invite the guests in.

If you have a deck or patio, don't forget to embellish this usable square footage of your home. Clean the deck or patio, remove what is not necessarily essential (perhaps the grill if it is not in outstanding condition, or cheap plastic chairs). Stage the area so that it is inviting - you can purchase inexpensive patio furniture, or if the area is small, you can get a nice cheap bistro set for under $100.

8. Choose Real over Fake - If you have any silk or plastic flowers/trees, remove them from the house. If you love them, pack them away. Put real plants/trees in their place. Put fresh flowers out as that not only is beautiful but it helps with odor control.

Have fun with the project. Look at it as an opportunity to get a head start on packing. Just remember that it is called "staging" because it is all an act. That is, it is not how you live day to day (you probably don't keep your dining table set for a party of 6 unless you are actually planning on using it that day but setting it for an open house sets the stage for how the potential buyer can entertain in the home.) Best of Luck.

How to make a paramore themed bedroom?

Kel Lee

I really want to theme my room with paramore. Its kind of small, and i really want it to have that new york artists studio apartment bedroom feel. I cant paint my room dark colors, and any bright colors have to be approved by my landlord. Any ideas?

Answer
I love paramore too. I guess it depends on which cd cover you are wanting to channel to get the paramore feeling into your room. Personally my favorite is the All We Know is Falling cover - it is really beautiful. Then there is the graffiti black and red type design for the Riot cover or the neutrals with the butterfly for the Brand New Eyes cover.

If you want to somehow mix all three very different looks you could try something bold such as a "night sky blue" comforter with a red chair (All We Know) and black accents (All We Know and Riot). You could then mix in butterflies (Brand New Eyes) and graffiti (Riot) in your art work for example as well as of course pics of the band themselves. :)

Good luck with everything!

What color furniture would go well with dark purple and gray walls?

I recently painted my bedroom an "elephant skin" grey with a very dark purple as my accent wall. I need help deciding what color furniture would look best; My first two choices would be either black wood or white wood furniture but would the black furniture make the room too dark or would the white furniture stand out too much in the room? Please help!! All opinions and ideas are extremely appreciated! :)

Also, any suggestions for bed sheets and whatnot?
Thanks!!

Answer
White furniture would be too stark in contrast to the walls; however, I think furniture with a coffee or ebony finish would look great with dark gray and purple. Not convinced? Buy an accent table and bring it home to see how it looks. You can always return it if you don't like it.

For sheets and other soft furnishings, try Overstock.com which features beautiful items at discount prices with little to no shipping costs. Keep the color of your items in the same purple and gray colors but move up the scale to lighter shades of them. That will balance the other dark items in your room. And don't forget lighting. Pick up some gorgeous inexpensive lamps to lighten things up.

In general, when in doubt, look through photos of rooms in catalogs, magazines and online (HGTV.com has a ton of room photos) and when you see something you like, use the same color combinations and textures. Have fun with it!

Adding cute little touches to a teen bedroom.?

yo

I need help adding small touches to the decorations in my bedroom. I don't like candles very much. My room is bright blue, green, pink, and orange. I want decorations that aren't the common decorations you see in every other bedroom. Does anyone have ideas?

Thanks!

Answer
Get crafty.

Piece together plastic canvas in colors that go with your room... (or cover them in fabric) ....Then use cardstock from the scrapbook store to make your own photo frames to hang onto the wall.
Just use two pieces of plastic canvas. Cut out the middle of one then cover both with the same fabric. Insert a piece of cardstock to make your own custom funky picture frames.
You can fashion these anyway you wish... the possibilites are endless. Your friends will want some as soon as they see them.
Get creative.

You could also decoupage... This simply means you buy some decoupage glue.... put the glue down first... then add the paper you want.... let dry.
Come back later and cover with a couple more coats of the glue.
This gives a very cool look.

If you want to make the item look 'antique'.... simply rub it with a tea bag first.... let dry ...then add the first coat of glue. Add paper... rub with tea bag all over again. Then add the next coat of glue.

Find some funky boxes with lids. Shoe boxes would work fine. Cover in fabric and stack in a corner as high as you wish. This is a great storage option and will look pretty too. If you want to cover them with something that will wipe clean... use wall paper or vinyl that you cut off an old couch ... be a salvager. Look for free stuff that is being thrown away and make something beautiful out of it.

You could make funky decorative storage boxes ...or purses... out of cigar boxes. Some crafters sell cigar box purses for hundreds of dollars.

Check out the craft stores... hardware stores (especially the wood working section)... scrapbook stores... and antique malls for ideas. Don't forget Goodwill or the Salvation Army... Dollar Stores are great too.

I'm thinking on taking my husband on a romantic get away weekend close to the ATL. Willing to drive around 4 hra max. And I'm looking for very good deals and very afordable since I'm trying to save our relationship but I dont have a lot of money.

Thank you!

Answer
Savannah is exactly 4 hours from the city, and beautiful! Especially now that it'll start cooling down a few degrees. A closer option would be just to go up into the Blue Ridge Mountains, where you can find TONS of cabin/home rentals for very reasonable prices. You could get a big 5 bedroom luxury cabin home with a hot tub, mountain view, & complete privacy for less than $200/night.

Whats a really pretty color for a bedroom?

I'm looking for a color that is sort of romantic, and looks really beautiful when the light reflects off it. I saw like a mauve/plum color that looked really pretty and then a reddish orange. any other ideas? thanks!

Answer
I think mauve is great--sophisticated, restful, lots of colors go with it. make sure it's not too purple because that can look too juvenile/grape jelly.

i love red orange or coral, but i don't know how it is in a bedroom.

mine is butter yellow with rose accents.

i also think that apple green, done right, is very nice.

Jenna

I apologize if it is too long, please read as much as you can. I really appreciate it. This is, hopefully, the beginning of my first chapter of my novel entitled 'Papercuts'. Briefly, it is about a girl disenchanted with reality after having an incident in her childhood involving a man from another world. It goes so much deeper than this but there is only so much I get tell you in this short space. Thank you for reading! See 'extra details' for this extract continued.

No windows were open, and the breeze pushed back the door to her bedroom. The last of Summer lingered in the room, a pleasant phantom to the girl on the bed. A shade of apricot spilled over the carpet and dug into the crop circles made by a dragged out chair and hardened coke stains sinking into the floor. It was the juices of a late, chilly Summer day, being squeezed from the lowering sun for what was left of it and bleeding it dry. It was a final plea for the girl to get up and call an ambulance, to see the day that she had given away. Her back was warm as it lay directly under the window, the jumper she wore ridden up so that most of her lower back was exposed. Her fingers stretched towards the bedside table, slipping out of the bubble of warmth she was in and dipping into the shadow cast by the curtain above it. As she lay on the bed, inhaling and exhaling quietly, she mourned. By now, everyone had slipped out of their summer skins and thrown them across the backs of chairs. Soon, they would blend in to the rest of the room and its décor, along with school uniforms and skinny jeans. The electric hum of a TV left on standby weighted down the air as she waited. Her converse were tucked neatly to the bottom right hand side of her bed. Sand hid inside them, as did a folded piece of paper in the left shoe, with a heart drawn in the corner and filled in by a black marker pen that still had its heady scent. It didn't feel like she was dying. It felt like she was waiting for someone to come and save her.
A ghostly chuckle erupted in the room, making her sleepy eyes widen.

“Aero? Aero...”
The bus juddered, bringing Aerosol back into the present. Sitting where the shopping bags of passengers ought to go, she stared blankly ahead of her at all the packed seats and people standing in the isle. Looking back at Aerosol just as mindlessly was a small girl with chopped ginger hair and freckles poured over her nose and upper cheeks. Her mother ushered her away out of discomfort, pulling her into the gap behind herself and in front of the next person.
“Do I look like a predator to you?” Aerosol blurted out, making the mother's mouth pop open in surprise. Secondary school kids chortled at the back of the bus but Aerosol didn't bother to suck in the words that came out of her mouth. She'd never see these people again. “Well I don't”
“Aero!”
“What?” she snapped back over her shoulder, turning to face Lavina who was sitting on the front seat of the bus, who's seat Aerosol had her back pressed against.
“You sound like a creep right now, and this bus literally has Child-line advertised on the walls”
“I am a creep” replied Aerosol. “But it's not like I get off at toddlers”
“Oh my god” exclaimed Lavina, before mouthing a dragged out 'stop'. Aerosol giggled and covered her mouth with her sleeves, feeling the embarrassment of her words more from her friend's reaction rather than her feeling it herself.
“Sorry” she told the mother, her voice muffled by her jumper. “I'm really not a creep. I'm just misunderstood”
“More like misdiagnosed” Lavina muttered.
“Oi!”
The rest of the bus ride was relevantly silent until she and Lavina got off at their stop opposite the sixth form.
“You really don't get embarrassed easily, do you?” said Lavina as they walked. “Being out with you in public is starting to get more and more dangerous”
Aerosol hooked her thumbs under the straps of her backpack and dipped her head back as she pouted.
“Aw. You still love me though, right?”
Lavina didn't give her friend a reply.
“Well” Aerosol gasped, feigning insult. Lavina smiled and shook her head.
“Did you do anything interesting whilst I was away, then? You know, download any new music, commit any murders...”
“No” she laughed at the last suggestion. “It was all pretty-”
“Lush braces, Pet” snickered a girl as she passed in the opposite direction. Aerosol and Lavina stood still and looked back. The girl's friend, wearing track-pants and a hood, started walking backwards as she grinned in alpha pride and then touched her eyes.
“Should have gone to Specsavers”
They turned away and met in a choir of chuckles, obviously pleased with themselves. Aerosol frowned at them as they sat down at the bus stop and looked at her for a reaction.
Widening her eyes, Aerosol coughed.
“Yes” she said. “Because I really appreciate your opinion on my dental status and where the fuck I get my glasses from...wise, orange faced strangers” she bowed in mock worship, placing her hands together, before turning her back on them and facing Lavina. “So it was all pretty much mundane” she began walking, Lavina following soon after with a goofy smile on her face. “I swear, it made me want to kill myself”
“So dramatic” te

Ideas for a toddler's bedroom?

HOLLISTER

My 3 and 6 year olds share a bedroom, and i earned a little bit of money so I decided to redo their rooms. does anyone have any ideas on what toys to buy? or furniture? Thanks
They are both boys and love boats

Answer
Are they boys? Girls? What are their interests?

I would paint one wall with 2 sail boats and some waves....let them paint some fish...or put up those sticky picutes of fish in the water.

Even if you are not artisitic you could draw a sail boat. Draw it in pensil first then fill it in with colorful paint.

Find some simple or solid comforters, sew some pillows with boat print for decoration and maybe have them color some pictures of a boat and frame them on the walls for decoration as well

Here's an example of an easy sailboat you should be able to draw....

And here are the fish decor I was mentioning

It is very difficult to actually tell you how to plan your furniture in your room because I would need to know the size of each piece of furniture, but here is a Room Planner to assist you in doing it. Hope this helps:

Well, what I usually do is go to garage sales. You'd really be surprised by what you see, cause a lot of garage sales sell furnature that you can buy. Also, 99 cent spray paint comes in handy.
