dust free bedding ideas for rat cage?

girl0501

i have 3 beautiful little girls living in a cage, within the course of 2 weeks of having them are all sick clearly with very early, very treatable stages of mycoplasma. in an attempt to take them to the vet, the one who started this bit me pretty badly and after talking to two vets who specialize in rats, they are both useless giving me repetitive answers of "i don't know." fine whatever, i'm using the carefresh bedding right now and notice it contains quite a bit of dust which obviously isn't helping them...does anyone use a bedding that hasn't caused them a great amount of dust problems?

would pine be better than the carefresh bedding?

please help, they may be rats to most people but they are beloved pets to me and this has completely ruined my day.
3 story ferret cage, it's all barred and open and we put them in a spacious area so they aren't locked in anywhere. i just cleaned out the cage for the first time and lifted the bedding to find a shit ton of dust underneath..
i switched to eco bedding and had to switch it out while they were in the cage since they won't come to me. it was amazing how i heard a lot less sneezes and one of the rats seems to be better. i think...i'm posting another question later.

anyways, the original sick dumbo is still very pissed and she's also showing signs of being the alpha rat of the cage. at least they're taking food from me and drinking water.

Answer
Carefresh Ultra and regular has tons of dust in it. My females cant tolerate it without sneezing non stop. I would suggest either Eco Bedding, which is recycled cardboard, or Yesterdays News, which is pellets of compressed recycled paper. Eco Bedding is cheaper and stretches farther for me. I also have a 3 story ferret cage for my female rats (Marshall Ferret Mansion), so Im assuming its about the same specs.

what stuff should we do in bed other than intercourse?

Q. i just want to be good and fun in bed. please give me ideas of what i should do in bed with my man other the sexual intercourse..please no silly answers
thank you

Answer
Being good in bed is NOT about listing off physical activities. It's not an exercise schedule.

Being good in bed is about attitude. I was a swinger for years and I was amazed at how little people grasp this concept. I had beautiful women who were terrible in bed and unattractive women who were amazing. It was the attitude they brought to sex. Consider the act of a BJ. If you give a bj like a slow bike ride in the park VS. a hungry dog who just found a steak, you will NOT be good in bed. Be the starving dog. NEED sex vs. allow sex. Beg for sex rather than wait to be asked. These are the things that make a woman fantastic in bed.

Now that you have the general attitude, focus on what works for men. Romance, tenderness, emotion... while all good, do nothing for men in bed. Men are action creatures. We bond over fishing and never say a word. The ACT of sex bonds men to their wives, not emotion or sensuality during sex. The more you introduce sensuality, the more likely he is to fantasize about better sex during sex.

What works for men? Visuals and audibles. Men primarily want to see sex or more importantly, sexuality. Sexuality is the body language of looking sexual or horny. Start out by making sure he SEES sexuality in you. Subtle glimpses of body parts like if you weren't wearing a bra and you bent over near him and he caught a glimpse of your breasts. Or wear a long t-shirt with nothing underneath but make sure you sit with your knees up so he can SEE. The gateway to a man's sex is his eyes. Many men like their women to talk about sex too. Do it like a conversation, not like a porn start trying to act sultry. Say things like, 'I love it when you lick here or when you...' (fill in the blank with something true). But talk like this when you are driving to the store or on a date. Slip comments like this in all the time. Talk about how you were thinking of him earlier in the day and you had to stop and masturbate. This will drive him nuts to know you are a sexual person. Most women guard their sexuality so closely that they teach their man that sex is never on their mind or so rarely it's not worth wanting.

during sex, make sure you aren't mute. Make sex noises but don't over do it. Talk dirty(ish). Don't say things like 'Wanna do it?' - instead say things like, 'I want to f*** so bad I can't wait any more'. Just reframing the question into a need is a huge improvement, but adding specific language rather than pet talk, works wonders as well. It's says you are sexual and not all caught up in 'acting' like a good girl too much.

Once you are having sex, try to find positions where your man can see sex. The more visual you make it, the better(based on the average man, of course). Most men like to see sex, so the more visuals you provide the higher his sexual arousal. Standing squat is great, reverse cowgirl, doggy style... all provide a view.

Being the girl who will vs. being the girl who says no is a huge factor as well. Many men cheat with uglier women who will do anything. Anal, swallow, etc. I am not a fan of anal, but I think that swallowing is across the board desired by men. It demonstrates a complete acceptance of sex and all that it entails. For me and most of the guys I know, we don't really care 'specifically' if you swallow, but when we are with women who CRAVE the taste and to swallow, it does triple the experience because any woman THAT sexual is just plain HOT. My wife never swallowed until we met a couple that we swapped with that drank pineapple juice the day of sex. They tasted like candy. My wife couldn't get enough of his cum, which was out of her character. From then on, if we know we are going to romp, we drink pineapple juice and avoid coffee or smoking(for those who smoke) so that it does not make it bitter.

Finally, good sex is not a one time thing. It's about maintaining a good sex life. Men, especailly, need sex every day but that isn't always practical. Every other day is optimal. If you go beyond that, your man is actually losing desire for you. Have consistent gaps in sex of 2 or more days and he is permanently losing desire for you. The problem is, that is sex drive is increasing but not for you. Which is why men cheat... lack of sex. Have enough sex and he will worship you. Lack of sex will make him distant, bitter and eventually fall out of love.

To sum up. Remember V3F.

In all things keep sex VISUAL.

Then add Fire, Freak & Frequency.

Fire - How bad you NEED sex.
Freak - Be wild and kinky.
Frequent - No matter how well you do the others, if it's not often enough, you will lose him.

Good make-up ideas...?

ily9102

I use make-up but I've been using my style for a long time and I think its getting boring. I have dark brown eyes, small eye-lids, medium length eye-lashes and I'm a strawberry blonde with some freckles...any ideas?

Answer
White eyeliner on the bottom inner rims of your eyes can make them appear larger/brighter!Never wear dark colors on both eyes and lips.
Play up your best features, dont hide behind make-up keep it natural. Make your own lip gloss: use 1 Tablespoon of Vaseline 1 teaspoon of white eyeshadow and 1 teaspoon of eyeshadow in the color of your choice and mix in a container, put in the freezer for a while and Tada you have made your own lip gloss!3. FOR AN ALL OVER GLOW: blend some cream blush on your cheeks and into your hairline. then add a touch to your forehead and chin
cream and milky cleansers suit dry skin whereas gel and foaming cleansers suit oily and acne-prone skins
VASELINE can be used for your lips, cheekbones, eyebrows, eyelashes, and even eyes. (on top of eye shadow, under brows, or makeup remover) or to make lashes longer and softer. if you don't wear much makeup but still want to highlight your eyes without overdoing it, apply a light coat of vaseline or clear lip balm to the eyelid and below the eyebrow. it creates a shimmer and draws attention in a natural-looking way

highlight the bridge of your nose with pale foundation and blend bronzer along the sides to make it appear narrower

when buying a cream blush, find a shade that matches your cheeks when youâve just pinched them

if you run out of blush, and have a ripe strawberry or raspberry in the fridge, crush it on waxed paper and blend it with a little moisturizer. you could also rub the crushed berries for a lip stain
dab blush (just a bit) on each earlobe. it can add a glow to your face if you pull your hair back or have short hair .to make the whites of your eyes look brighter, use a light blue pencil under the eyes. blue eye shadow lightly applied under the eyes works just as well

always dust lids with translucent powder before applying shadow, or apply a thin layer of foundation over your eyes

rimming your lower lids with beige eyeliner (like Benefit Eye Bright) is a sure way to brighten and enlarge the eyes

dark eyes look great in grays, blues, purples, and greens. light eyes look great in brown, taupe and bronze shades

for bigger eyes in the morning: get a cotton bud and smooth milk all over your eyelids for about 5 minutes and then dry your eyes and finish. you'll notice the results in the morning

if you don't have an eyelash curler on hand, you can use a sturdy plastic spoon instead. just press the curved end into your eye socket so the edge flips up your lashes, then swipe on your mascara
VOLUME MAXIMIZER: tie upper layers of hair (grabbing it at about an inch above the ears) into a ponytail on top of the head before bed. unfasten in the morning and shake head upside down, and you will have beautiful hair with body

Anyone have honeymoon ideas?

sam

My fiance' and I are getting married in October of this year. We are stumped where to go for our honeymoon. We know we want to go to the beach and that we want to stay in the United States. We also know that we would preferably not be on a plane for a million years and spend thousands of dollars. We do not want to go to the typical Myrtle Beach or Ocean City. Does anyone know of any beaches that are not very well known? Thanks!

Answer
come to RI. we have many beautiful beaches and little bed and breakfasts, as well as parks, theaters, hotels, and general tings to see and do. may i suggest

Edgewood Manor bed and breakfast (not too close to the major beaches, but beautiful, but there are many others)
http://www.providence-lodging.com/

Roger Williams Park Zoo if you want to get away from the beach, riht near Edgewood Manor
http://www.rogerwilliamsparkzoo.org/

now for the beaches (south county)
Misquamicut is wonderful and beautiful, with assorted shops and arcades and batting cages very very close by
http://www.misquamicut.org/

there's Newport, so much history there and they have beautiful mansions that you can tour. they also have a wonderfully romantic cliff walk where you can stroll around

getting married in October, there will be wonderful foliage everywhere, especially in the parks. might i suggest going to providence for a show at the PPAC or Trinity Rep? both are nationally known theaters. ans there's countless wonderful little restaurants. i suggest going up to Federal Hill, the places there have the most wonderful Italian food imaginable. but there is every kind of food for every budget somewhere, and with ri, you can drive the length of the state in less then an hour, so you won't have a lot of travel time. and Boston is a 45-minute train ride away also.

if you rent a car, about an hours drive away from providence, less from south county is Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun resorts and casinos. so much stuff to do there.

since its October, unless you DO go somewhere 'typical', it's not really going to be beach weather. so with ri, you can still go to the beach (and us locals WILL if it's nice out lol), and see everything, but you have several great cities and towns to explore and take in our rich culture.

email me if you'd like more ideas!

What's an in-expensive, but sturdy, wood to use to build a bed?

beautiful bedding ideas

beautiful bedding ideas image

Gwendolyn

Im building a queen size captains bed, and need ideas on what type of wood would be a good choice, that also wont bust my pocketbook.

Answer
The least expensive is pine, but it does not have to look it. Of course it can be painted any color. It can also be stained any shade. Minwax and several other companies make stains that will color it to look like many other woods, from darkening it ever so slightly to show the grain, to darking it to ebony. It is a softwood, and therefore will bow more than a hardwood, but it is much easier to work, and can be carved with chisels or with a Dremel tool.
Of hardwoods, maple and oak are fairly reasonable in price, and red oak in particular has a beautiful grain.
It is also possible to get hardwood plywoods (most plywood is pine) like birch, which I have a table made of about ten feet from where I am, that I made, and many people have liked it, and I do myself.
Most hardwoods, in my opinion, if the grain is selected carefully will not require a stain, but just a varnish.
I use wipe on polyurethane, which I apply with a cloth soaked in it. It seals the wood, darkens it slightly, and looks quite pretty. I put it on thin, so that you can still feel the grain (thick makes it plastic-y).
Use a circular saw with a fine toothed finish cut blade. Cover where you want to cut with masking tape, mark the tape, cut through it, and the edge will be smooth when the tape is removed.
Metal el brackets make the joints stronger, as do wooden dowels or "biscuits."
Pre-drilling holes keeps screws from splitting wood.
Good luck!

Does anyone have any ideas how to calm my remaining cat after the other died?

Jasper

Please help. Until 1 week ago, I had beautiful 16- year old Siamese litter mates. One had i controllable diabetes and other health issues and I had to let him go when it became clear his liver and kidneys were failing quickly. My surviving little girl is lost. She cries almost constantly when awake, keeps going to her old littermates' favorite places, sniffing, and crying even more. When I go out and return, she rushes to the door to see if he is there and then cries all the more loudly and sulks. She is eating about half her food, which I supplement with favorite treats. She is not fat.
I'm spending more time playing with her, talking to her, grooming her, and petting and massaging her. I don't know what else I should do? How long is it okay for her to eat less than usual? Are there aromatherapy products out there? I am already using feliway and don't know if it is helping/hurting. Please help Thank you!

Answer
She could just feel alone, she misses him. Awwww :( My family had the same problem with our dogs after one of them died. You might have to get another cat. Getting another cat will take her mind off the previous cat that had died. Or you could try cat nip, get her a new bed, something along those lines. If any of your friends have cats you could get them together just so she is socializing with other cats. Hope that helped and good luck ;)

Maybe, its such a simple fix, that nobody needs an "adapter" maybe just a lag bolt and big washers. Or drill holes in the rails, and run a bolt,(or screw) with a washer, through the hole
I'm assuming metal, "rails" and, wood, "the rest of it". Or take it back and tell them, it came with the wrong parts, maybe they'll have an idea

Flower bed ideas?? I live in Texas and want something native, beautiful and easy to care for.?

nicki

The flower bed is in front of my house, which is red with white trim. The flower bed is about 2ft wide and as long as the house with a gap for the walkway to the front door. There is already a red rose bush, an aloe vera plant, and some kind of iris flower. i like bright colors and would like something that is easy to care for. thanks for those who help me out!
the flowers will be in full sun. It rains a lot here, so I don't need something drought tolerante. I would like something that people could see from far away.

Answer
Before planting anything you need to determine if the plants will get full sun, part sun, or all shade. Then you will need to plant accordingly. Begonias do well in Texas, azaleas make a nice bush, which blooms beautifully in the spring, and does better when facing the North. Vincas, also known as periwinkle come in a variety of colors, and are beautiful, can tolerate hot weather, and require less water than many plants. We had them all across the front of our house last year and got yard of the month. They like the sun.

I have a dark cherry wood sleigh bed with matching furniture and want a dark room to sleep in..decorating tips

Liesel

Decorating tips anyone? Like what color should I paint my bedroom to keep it dark enough to have a cave like atmosphere when I sleep...ideas at all?

Answer
First thing I would purchase would be room darkening shades for your windows. I purchased mine through JC Penney, but there may be other retailers who also carry them. Cherry wood furniture is very rich and beautiful. Therefore, you should use a paint color on your walls with the same richness that your furniture has. I would recommend a few colors from Sherwin William's. Option one: A brown color called "Colonial Revival Stone #2827". Second option: A medium muted shade of green called "Sage Green Light #2851". That was my favorite until I went into the blue section and found a color for option three: " Bunglehouse Blue #0048". This is a muted darker blue that really makes the cherry wood "pop". I tried to find a shade of gold, since gold is intense and rich also, but didn't like how any of the choices looked next to the cherry furniture. You can check out my choices for your bedroom color at the following site. I chose the bedroom with the cherry furniture to get the best comparison to your room. Good luck!!!

Q. I have a little yorkie poo she is a little over a year and every since she was born she has slept with me. In the store the other day i saw a beautiful pink bed and i had to get it, but she wont sleep in it. PLEASE help me!

Answer
You've got to work on two things:

1. Go To Place (or also called "settle")

2. Teaching her she's not allowed on your bed without an invitation.

Personally, I'd start with Go To Place. Trainers call this by a lot of names: Go To Place, Settle, Bed, etc. I use Bed.

Luring is very effective here. Get a food reward, let her sniff it, then drag your arm across the dogbed til she's on it. Reward!

Once she's got that down, keep luring her onto the bed, but only reward when she lays down on the bed.

Then you can put the name to it, as the Bed command really is "get on your bed and lay down there".

If she tries to get up, tell her to stay and reward super duper for the stay.

She'll put it together. ;)

Once she's got the idea of using her bed during regular training (you aren't messing with the bedtime routine yet), work on getting her off yours. You correct her for coming up on your bed without a command, reward for getting off your bed when told.

When you're getting ready to go to sleep at night, you can give her the Bed command and she'll go to her own bed.

This isn't going to happen overnight, as she has a habit of treating your bed like her own. But you will get there if you practice a lot! That's how I got my dog off my bed an into her own, too.

Good luck!
