How to redecorate a small bedroom on a budget?

sara

I am a teenage girl and I fully redecorated my room 2 years ago, so I don't want to go all out this time. But I am looking for some small cheap ways to spruce up my bedroom. I am already saving up for a new comforter set. It's $40 and I'm hoping it's the most expensive thing I'll end up buying. So does anybody have any ideas of ways to inexpensively semi-redecorate my bedroom? Keeping in mind that I can't rearrange my furniture because my room is set up so that the only arrangement that works is the way I currently have it.

Answer
Easy and inexpensive to add decor in a contemporary style using white and your accent color, best to pull a color from your bedding or choose an earth tone that coordinates with all colors such as blue-green/turquoise.

or
Make a cute accent pillow for your bed. Easy to sew with a needle and thread if you can't use a sewing machine.
Cut fabric 13x30"
Fold the fabric in half, in-side-out so the color/print is inside.

How can i have a beautiful bedroom for a low budget?!?!?

Danielle

Ok, so here's the situation, I am moving soon to a beautiful cottage in the countryside and i want to have a perfect bedroom for a low budget.
It's a double room but will only have a single bed in it, so i can have lots of room :)

So i want my room to be flower themed. I cant paint the walls as its rented so i was my room to look bright and colourful.
I don't want to have all real flowers because it would cost too much in the long run, but i will probably have a few vases of flowers here and there to make it smell nice :P
So any links or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
So links for colourful cheap vases?
Links for ways to make my room colourful for a low price?
Links for ways to make my room feel cosey?

Im from the UK so no USA links please.

Thankkkkkkkkkks

OOOh also could you also talk about colours the flowers could be to compliment each other?

Answer
you could buy some cheap furniture or buy some very cheap tools and make some furniture that i easy to make i am gonna have my room too ^_^!!!!!!! Good luck with that!!!

Anyone have any bedroom ideas?

Jomahomi

Me and a friend are designing my bedroom but we have a budget of £10,000 (It's a challenge by the way I don't actually have the money) The bedroom is 10 meters by 12 meters. We really want to beat the other team. Thanks for the help!! :) :)

Answer
chic is the theme? ok I'll help
first you go with the little dark or light colors. bedroom, when we say that we should have playful colors but it isn't the colors that hurt your eyes a lot. you should use the colors lavender, pinkish, baby blue, sky blue, dark brown, lime green for your walls

second, the furniture! a four-poster bed or water bed may help. what do you think makes you more comfortable the most? choose the colors, for instance: if you used the dark brown for the walls, then lighten it up with white or black! it depends on what you like

have 2-3 chairs just a little chairs not so big and small table.
put lampshades and one window with a beautiful view, beside or by side your bed.

the most important is use your imagination to make it more comfy, nice, and artistic and attractive! good luck hon! and take note of the colors and their contrast!

How can I make my bedroom cozier and prettier?

Q. I am 13yr old girl and I want to make my bedroom feel like a place I actually want to hang out in because at the moment it is sort of boring. But the problem is I can't paint the walls and I only have a budget of about $50. I want to make it indie or vintage looking.

Answer
It's always fun redecorating! :) I hope you're able to find some things you like that are within your budget. Here are some answers and ideas I found online that should help you out. Good luck!

Idea 1: Hobby Lobby has beautiful vintage looking stuff. They are always having sales!

Idea 2: DIY lacy/doily lamps! (it's the second link below)

Idea 3: They have cute scrapbook boxes at AC Moore ( www.acmoore.com) and you can stuff almost anything in them. I have about 4 and they're helpful and come in a variety of colors. I always think a painting or 2 make a room look nice. You can also find some removable wall stickers at most art stores, but I'm not so sure about the price. For the furniture, pick a color you like and make sure they contrast. Like, don't pick dark brown furniture with a gray comforter.

Idea 4: Animal prints, polka dots, stripes, or retro would all look pretty good. Just pick your favorite them and go with it.

Happy decorating!

Breakfast at Tiffany's bedroom ideas?

Ashley

Ok so I just got through the stage of having Jonas Brothers posters COVERING all four pf my walls and I mean I still LOVE them but I want a more formal kind of room now. I'm going to be a sophomore in high school and I just recently watched Breakfast at Tiffany's with my aunt. I fell in love with the movie and I want my room to be based on the movie (well like the formal/fancy part anyways). I already have cream colored furniture in my room which I can't get rid of so I'm stuck with that. I already found a perfect bed set for my room but I still need more. Oh and by the way I'm on a low budget. Any ideas?

This is a link to the bed set I'm going to get...

http://www.target.com/dp/B000UBWHJQ/ref=cm_reviews_next?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=1CRZYF0XJP7BSTCNZN0G&pf_rd_p=473437131&pf_rd_i=B000UBWHJQ&page=5&pf_rd_s=bottom-7&activetab=Reviews&pf_rd_m=A1VC38T7YXB528&pf_rd_t=5201
I can't do anything to my furniture i have now. so now spray painting or pasting anything on it.
oh and right now my walls are bright pink and green...so i need better colors to paint over them. plus i have a bright pink chair and a pink + purple lamp.

Answer
I think that bedding is okay, but it is a little bit overused and the pink doesnt match much.
When I think of that movie, the colors I think are cream, white, silver, black, and of course, tiffany blue! - http://www.colourlovers.com/wallPaper/800x600/p/291457/COLOURlovers.com-Tiffany_Blue_Box.png

Even though you cant change your furniture, you can change it to a whole new look! You can buy spray paint, and spray paint your furniture black, white, or silver. Buy new knobs for the drawers - those are really cheap and give it a whole new look.

That movie is defintly crystals, glass, and classy.
You could paint the walls in stripes, with different aquas with a silverish border.
Add crystal, glass, silver and white, cream accessories and a beautiful cream color long haired rug by the bed. or a really bold zebra rug : http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11078113 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11030429

An amazing example of color-choices http://www.susanjablonmosaics.com/userfiles/rox-glass-tile-turquoise-shwr.jpg

Get small frames and have pictures of Audrey Hepburn and photos of New York City in different sizes. Frames are really cheap, and a can of spray can can make it look wonderful.
Pictures : http://www.allposters.com/gallery.asp?startat=/getposter.asp&APNum=1336537&CID=6DAEB2A0F15C4AFFBD2E5576F47302FA&PPID=1&search=audrey%20hepburn&f=c&FindID=66626&P=1&PP=10&sortby=PD&cname=Audrey+Hepburn&SearchID= , http://www.allposters.com/gallery.asp?startat=/getposter.asp&APNum=2671038&CID=6DAEB2A0F15C4AFFBD2E5576F47302FA&PPID=1&search=audrey%20hepburn&f=c&FindID=66626&P=1&PP=10&sortby=PD&cname=Audrey+Hepburn&SearchID= , http://www.allposters.com/gallery.asp?startat=/getposter.asp&APNum=3489813&CID=6DAEB2A0F15C4AFFBD2E5576F47302FA&PPID=1&search=tiffany&f=t&FindID=0&P=1&PP=12&sortby=PD&cname=&SearchID=

For the bed I would "glam" it up by using cream color bedding with white and silver accent pillows alternating; with one Tiffany's style blue pillow in the center. For sheets look for ones with patterns, rather than solid colors that correspond with your color scheme.

For a dresser I would go with white but if you really want to âglamâ up dresser you can use your existing dresser and cover it in mirrored tiles.
Put in a "crystal" chandelier for lighting, not a real one - but something fake and cute.

Look through vintage shops for old mirrors, with nice frames. Again, some spray paint will make the frames look very nice.

Look for accessories like this : http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/AngieCMAN/Blog%20items/Kenidisroom0001_12.jpg

Look for pretty mirrors like this : http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00091967

Go to homedepot and just look around. You will get lots of ideas.

Good luck.

EDIT:
I thought this bedset was perfect, so you could keep any of the pink accents you have : http://store.delias.com/browse.do?categoryID=1917&sidenavTrack=roomwares.victorian

It doesnt matter if you have pink and green walls, you can still paint it tiffany blue. Just give it a a double coat if it doesnt cover.

Answer
well i'm not sure what your budget is but i think a pink ottoman like this one well go nicely with your room since it serves as a small chair and storage unit.

also you can keep your walls bare or have beautiful decals on them, i find many on e-bay but you can look elsewhere. here are some of my favorites:

If you decide to go with the patterned wall decals, then you'll want to keep your bedding simple, yet elegant (like the fourth pic above). Frame posters of Audrey, Marilyn or both to use as focal points on your wall. Just remember, too much of a good thing pattern-wise can be visual overload! Try to take a "less is more" approach to pattern and placement of it.

Good lock and I hope that your room turns out well!

Gg'

I want to redecorate my bedroom. I'm not doing a whole lot. All I need/want is:

-Paint
-New desk
-New chair for desk
-Dresser
-Night table(s)

Around how much will it cost?

Answer
The cost of redecorating can vary greatly. The more creative you can be the better your budget.

Paint varies on cost. You can count on an average of $30.00 per gallon depending what you buy.
You can go here http://www.sherwin-williams.com they also have a nifty visualizer tool that allows you to take a picture of your room, upload it, and try colors on your wall. http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

For your furniture, I would go to yard sales, fleas markets, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army. You can also look in your local paper for some finds. Sometimes you can even get these items for free.
If your willing to refinish or paint your own finds, you can significantly reduce your costs. here is a great site for painting and distressing furniture.
http://movitabeaucraft.wordpress.com/2010/07/19/how-to-antique-and-distress-furniture-with-paint/

Another great idea is furniture covers and throw pillow covers. If you find a chair that you like, but do not like the covering or cushions, chair coverings and throw pillow covers are an inexpensive way to add that new look to your room. How do I make my bedroom look more sophisticated?

i'mnotgood

I'm 17, and I have no idea how to decorate my room. I feel like it looks like it belongs to a 13-15 year old girl. And I desperatley want it to look more sophisticated and mature. Sort of like the teenage bedrooms on tumblr, but not the rebellious looking ones with magazine cutouts and posters plastered everywhere.

Help please :)

Answer
There are plenty of options to choose from. But before starting out, you must have a budget in mind and go from there. You don't want to start out on something and end up realizing that for a good effect, you have to end up spending a small fortune. Do you have hobbies or things that you're really keen on like movies, sports, collections or anything like that? That's a good way to start off if you want to have a room that's completely you.

I'll just give you an example here. If you're a collector of sorts who collects stamps, coins, dried flowers etc. you can have display shelves with your collection proudly displayed. You can have wooden furniture to match the room. Solid colored bed linen and accessories will give an intellectual air to the room.

If you like an old-fashioned room, lovely antiques or at least some antique furniture will look beautiful in your room. You can go with lace and tulle and transparent, feminine-looking drapes. A big, oval mirror in a bronze frame will add a touch of charming elegance.

Or if you want to have a typical teen room, bright and cheerful, go with colorful bedding and accessories. This is my personal favorite. Go with a quilt in warm, happy colors. Make the bed the focus of attention with the quilt. Art work for the walls like canvas prints, oil on canvas or acrylic and water color on canvas will create an atmosphere of cozy warmth. Canvas prints of country scenes or flowers or anything that adds to the colorful theme is good. Add some colorful rugs on the floor and throw some pillows on the bed in bright jewel colors.

I was just browsing around and found a website that has some interesting ideas on how to select art work for your walls: http://www.become.com/hub/collectibles-art/paintings-art-sculpture/tips-for-choosing-home-decor-artwork/

My sister and I are trying to figure out what to get our parents for Christmas this year. I'd say our budget is around $200. My dad is in his early 50s and my mom is in her late 40s. Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer
Hello. You can either give them something that they can use for their hobby...as individual gifts or you can give them a gift that they can use at home or in the bedroom like a beautiful lamp. I'm sure there are a lot of items out there that is definitely within your budget.
You can search google or amazon or ebay for these items. Hope this helps!

I'm opening a Children's Entertainment center but don't know how to pick a good wall color palette to use.

I'm opening a children's play center (uptownplayaround.com) and have meticulously designed the entire facility (myself) with high-end features and ordered beautiful one-of-a-kind play structures but I canât decide on what colors to paint my walls.

Aside from a mural, where can I find this kind of info? Itâs not in my budget to hire an interior designer to pick my pain color, nor do I want to get advice from a 18 year old kid at Home Depot

Answer
Go to a few different paint stores and look at the swatch area. They usually have little brochures that have pictures of rooms on them. Find a room (probably a child's bedroom) that you like and then just use the colors they list on the card.

Another idea is to take one color that you really like (maybe it's in a few of the play structures or something) and put it into the little computer in the paint section at Home Depot. The computer will spit out suggestions for coordinating colors.

A final suggestion would be to find an item, such as a rug, pillow, or sweater that you really love. Have a paint store match 3 colors from that and use those. You'll know that they coordinate, because they look good together in the item.

Once you get your three colors (I wouldn't go with more than that) decide where to use them. You could paint two walls one color, two another, and use the third as an accent, perhaps painting some kind of geometric designs or swirls or whatever in that color.

Good luck with your business!

I am about to begin the process of moving into a new house, I have always shared a room with my younger brother but now that we are purchasing a three bedroom i finally have the opportunity to decorate and grow up a little. I want my room to be elegant and beautiful, I would love it if you could give me some personal opinions on color pallet, and needs to reach my goal. I am on a budget so DIY and cheapness will not get you marked down haha. I am 16 and would really love all of your help. At the moment i was thinking either a very light pink, or a grey oyster color. I am just not quite sure. Please help!!
Love,
Loco

Pink & gray to together nicely, and the gray makes pink look more sophisticated.

I say the best thing you can do is just look at a lot of inspiration rooms, find one you like, and then steal ideas from it, lol.

Where are places to stay for adventurous college students in puerto rico?

nb

we would like to have access to the many activities such as fishing, snorkeling, caves, an island day trip, etc but also need a budget oriented place to stay. there is six people in the group in their early 20's. we have traveled through europe and many parts of belize before. any suggestions would be welcomed. research suggests that many places are crime prone and maybe a place that has a good reputation would be what we are looking for. any ideas?

Answer
Well if you are adventerous in the back to nature sort of way... go to the west side of the island. Aguadilla, Rincon, Isabela, Mayaguez......

Aguadilla and Rincon have the best surfing and relaxing beaches on the island. So beautiful, so fun! Aguadilla and Mayaguez have UPR if you are going to college.

I lived there for 4 yrs and it was so great. The entire nature of this side of the island is so relaxing and fun. I personally did not want to be around the city with the big building and suits all the time. I enjoyed going to the metropolitan area maybe a couple times a month.

In aguadilla there are lots of dive & surf shops and instructors. Aguadilla is also close to Desecheo island. No one lives there but you can boat there and spend the day. You can just imagine how beautiful, clear, and full of marine life it is out there! Flip flops rule on this side of the island. This side of the island has some really nice examples of spaniard architecture. I recommend checking out the light houses. This side of the island is also a whole lot less expensive than living in the metro area. My friend rents and apartment in Isabela for $300 a month has 2 bedrooms and other the usual stuff. And its about 5 minutes from the beach. In aguadilla you could probably get something similar priced, lots of people rent out the 2nd story of their house which has been converted in to apartments. These are usually real cheap. This guy I know rents his for $250 and it overlooks the ocean. (I don't really think he knows how great of a property he has though) Look into it. The entire nature of PR is gorgeous, I just prefer living away from the city but still close to everything i need and want.
