xbox360lad

Hi, Im 14 and im really into gaming and gadgets, i've got quite a small space to work with. What im gonna need is a bed, storage unit, desk (computer enabled lol) cupboard, maybe a gaming unit or whateva they are called? If u could help it would be appreciated! :D

Answer
Boy or girl ? Either way, it sounds like you have some ideas already.
Consider decorating in the colors of your favorite college... bedspreads, posters, etc are often available at the college bookstore.

Remodeling a teen girls bedroom? Color ideas!?

iloveyoou

When my sister goes to college this summer, I'm moving into her bigger bedroom. My mom wants to mostly do the decorating, but I definitely have some input. She wants to keep it neutral. I'm fine with that. We want like cream or vanilla walls with brown and tan and white furnishings. The furniture I'm gonna have is a small desk for my laptop and homework and stuff, a dresser, a white night table, possibly a vanity, if not another dresser, a flat screen on the wall, and a bed. I'm also adding a funky plant and maybe like a cool elegant old fashioned phone, and some other cool stuff. I need to make it unique! Can anyone help me add some of MY personal touches to my MOMS decor? Also, where can I add splashes of color to the neutral room. One more thing, where can I get a funtional small desk, and a cute vanity, and dresser thats funtional (for clothes, books and knick-knacks, I have a closet too.) mostly for storage? Any websites? Links/Pictures?

ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks soo much for any input at all. Oh, and I know I'm asking for alot but even a little bit would be appreciated, and I know my question is a little norganized :/
Sorry I mean *unorganized

Answer
Pink EVERYTHING! Teenage girls love that.

chill teen girl bedroom?

I'm 16 and I am redoing my room this summer. I have picked out a color, fernwood green.
(here's a link) http://www.benjaminmoore.com/bmpsweb/portals/bmps.portal?_nfpb=true&_br=1&_pageLabel=fh_home&np=colors/2145-40

I'm not oing for the typical teen girl room with super bright colors and tons of accessories. I just want a more mature room because it's the last time I will decorate my room and it has to last me until I am 18 and when I go to college and when I come home in the summer. I am looking for some ideas on where I could find furniture and a bedspread that match the color that I am using. I don't want something really over the top, but I don't want it to be super plain either. I have tried PB teen but I couldn't find anythng there. If you have any suggestions at all I would greatly appreciate them! Thanks! :)

Answer
You are so lucky to be able to do your whole room like this. Kudos to your folks! I love it to see a teen in 'chill mode' You seem very considerate of what you will be doing. To be honest A two year span is only 24 mos. Not a long time. But definately trends can look retarded that quick. You have the right mindset, Now I would consider function. Earth tones with splashes of color dont fade so hard in the trend dept. I have seen stuff on DYI that was originally 10 years old, and hated the transformation of color they imposed on it.
I would say take your carpet into consideration, I dont wear shoes in my home, As I respect clean flooring, I like to be able to sit on the floor. Do a kind turn for your feet, splash of color with some texture your feet like? ok, your entered the room. Where do you see and go first? Those things should get 2nd consideration. Say if its the bed decor, I WOULD be looking to make the stuff that touches your skin new, and neutral of color. ( i'd be thinking down comforter, yes lay on top of it in the summer, keeps you cooler if you get the good stuff...) and pillows. I found that Costco has the best and bomb pillows. yearound, 2pk @10.00. maybe 12 now...especially in off season if you can find winter stuff still available, the expensive stuff is way cheaper. Then I suggest to cover it all first, whats going on the walls? Are you into any themes? Make then the spread, or duvet cover match theme or art layout. If wall layout isnt set in stone your freed up to go to town! But if pricing starts to set in, heres a hot tip. (especially in the summer) Go check out you biggest local flea mkt. Find the asian, or western people who sell all the bedding and blankets. They usually have the big plush blankets hanging for shade and display up high, you can see them from far off... Go find a set, there prices are already reasonable. But if you are good at negotiation, thats the place to make it happen. I do it every couple of years too. People always compliment on my room themes, esp. the rare bedding.50 dollars maybe 60, should cover all what I have already covered. If you bought a down comforter add on another hundred, but dont plan on having to buy that again, for many years...
Over the last 7 years I have done so many themes and decorated for myself and others and found the keys for space usege, to stright up budgeting to look like a million.
If you start your bedroom with some of these base ideas I feel sure you will end up with a room you may not even WANT to change in 2 years!
Happy hunting!

I am a guy moving into a 2 bedroom apartment with another guy. We have 2 bathrooms and a small kitchen. I am looking to remodel the apartment for 2 guys. A girl lived in it before me and needs a major make over for guys. I am looking to spend very little money. We cannot change carpet, or paint the walls... The walls are white. Im looking for some idea on home made decorations or cheap ideas.

Thanks!!!
I am moving into an apartment with another guy. His sister was his old room mate and has decked the place out as a girls dream home.

We need some major help on a makeover!!! Only problem is we cannot paint the walls. I need some major help because I am having to redo the entire living area and my room.

I need some cheap and easy college ideas to spice up the apartment!!!

Pics, web sites, ideas, anything and everything under the sun will work.

Thanks all!!!

Answer
Just completed this exact project. (Same apt, same rules, same cheap budget- 2 guys). Total Cost $500: to furnish, equip, and decorate entire apt.
1)start by telling family and friends that you are looking for "hand me down furniture". Choose wisely from offers, we turned some down (for example a pink floral sofa)
2)start searching and collecting furniture, art, kitchen necessities, etc from second hand stores; great finds/ very inexpensive. (Don't worry IF nothing matches - easily fixed).
3) Choose an on overall colour scheme using your "found sofa" to get you started. (We found a black queen sized sofa bed, excellent condition - then we found a black and blue table/chair set for kitchen -
4)Found a black glass coffee table, chrome legs: retail $250, liquidation store price $30
5)Colour scheme used throughout apt- Black, Blue, Tan, with Natural Pine accents and chrome/stainless steel accessories.
6)Buy a gallon of BIN (shellac based primer), and a gallon of interior alkyd paint for mismatched furniture finds. We painted tables, beds, night stands, dressers, bookshelves, desks, picture frames etc - black.
7) Found brass lamps/ framed mirrors - spray painted chrome.
8) Art- found odd retro / interesting items and hung as art
- printed then framed photos from internet, found frames $1.
9)Cheap mini- blinds at big box store
10)Tons of stuff found at $Dollar Stores, Liquidation Stores, Thrift shops - and of course hand me downs from family/friends.
11)Dishes/ Cutlery/ Kitchen stuff: scrounged some, found some cheap, bought some new

Have fun "hunting".

Note: the guys were slobs before they got the apt.
Their apt now looks so great they keep it spotless,"house proud".

As soon as you move in you will need: Food/ beverages
-cleaning supplies, basic tools (hammer,a few screw drivers etc), a shower curtain, toilet paper, towels, clothes hangers, bedding

Pictures light up a room, so I love that idea. How about a new bedding set? If you don't like posters, then what about a couple of mirrors on the wall. On one wall, you could hang a small mirror, and then add your pictures around that. Then hang a larger mirror on another wall. Good luck!

Any help finding pictures to decorate my bedroom? College girl moving home...?

yahoofan

So my sister and I have shared a room for 20 years and she just got married and moved out and I will be moving home from college... with that being said, I am going to miss sharing a room with her and have decided to redo the whole place so it's like my own. The room is incredibly small with a bunk bed right now and I am going to try and fit a full bed and start from there.. right now it has white walls with thick purple and green stripes.. we have curtains and comforters and all sorts that match that b/c we redid it only a few years ago so I am looking for pictures of bedrooms that are green/purple (I want to add dark purple to the walls) or start totally new and make it green/pink/brown to match my comforter from school. SO with that being said, any pics anyone could find of bedrooms w/ those colors would be wayyy appreciated! I am trying to make it sophisticated also! Thanks so much!!

Answer
go to hgtv.com/ratemyspace and look at their female teen bedroom tab on the left side of the page. There are tons of ideas and multi-picture post on there, and you could even post your own room and have people suggest things.

Cool teenage girl bedroom ideas?

dkkdance10

I want re-paint and organize my bedroom, but I'm not sure what colors to paint it. I'm a teenage girl, 15 years old. I have one wall that is slanted in my room, and I was thinking of painting it with either chalk paint or whiteboard paint. Any ideas for painting my room? I like bright colors (pink, purple, lime green, etc). Is there any way to paint zebra stripes on the wall? (My dad has to be able to do this haha). Right now my walls are purple, lime green, and pink, but I'm getting sick of it. Pictures would be great, thanks:D
my dad is good at this stuff! not to make it sound like it has to be easy

Q. I'm going off to college this fall, and I'm living in a student housing type apartment. I'll be living with 3 other girls, but my own bedroom will be about 10x12. It already comes with a full size bed, armoire, desk, and nightstand. What are some themes and cute things I can do to decorate my room? Where would I find pictures of dorm-like examples?

Answer
HGTV always has great ideas and videos you can watch.
I like to decorate with fashion aswell as function in mind meaning that since your in school you can find ways that will be stylish aswell as helpful.

Throw some wall shelves and some memo boards in your place and it's a good way to display pics aswell as leave important notes that you might forget when walking out the door. If your thinking about color always go with the 60/30/10 rule..can't go wrong with that..and like i said HGTV.com you can dabble with 60/30/10 color schemes.

check it out and good luck.!

Any ideas on how to throw a cheap, but fun bachelorette party?

dsafweaaaa

I am a poor college student who is lucky enough to be the maid of honor! I was wondering if anyone had some fun and cheap (key word there being cheap) ideas for throwing a bachelorette party? THANKS!

Answer
well, first of all you need to get the other bridesmaids involved- they should SPLIT the costs with you completely! Just because you're the maid of honor doesn't mean you have to pay for everything!
For inexpensive party- find a good location to have it at, cheapest would be someones house, find someone that is within walking distance to a few bars perhaps so you guys can go out for a few drinks. start off at the house with drinks and appetizers, play fun games, have good tunes on, make your own decorations and games instead of buying them from the store. either you purchase everything and divide up the cost and have the other girls pay you back, otherwise assign people different duties to be responsable for. go to the dollar store and get some martini glasses- one for each person attending- go to the craft store and pick up a paint pen and decorate each glass with the bride and grooms names and the date of the wedding around the glass- you can even write each guests name on the base of the glass and have it as the party favor and a way to keep drinks from getting mixed up! get a paint pen in either the wedding colors or pink is always good! make a special batch of martini mix in a large pitcher or cooler jug for the night also and give it a dirty name like "G spot martini" heres a list of recipes http://www.drinksmixer.com/search/?q=martini&d=1&p=1
I made my own penis cake mold- I shaped a large penis from a big piece of foam I got from the craft store (you want the hard foam) then I took heavy duty foil and wrapped it around the mold real good in a few layers, then remove the foam and flip the foil over to make a cake pan- fit extra foil around the bottom to make it sturdy- then just bake you cake mix as directed- let it cool completly before removing it from the mold and then frost in a flesh tone frosting using food coloring and white frosting and use chocolate jimmies on the balls like hair! looks really good and saves you like $60 from getting a penis mold from the store!
make a "Tree of Wisdom" for the party. you take a few large branches (go to the park and find some dead branches or something) and put them in a vase so it looks like a tree. then make either paper hearts or penis's out of constuction paper and attach a small wire so you can hang them all from the tree. then each guest will write down words of wisdom for the bride to be on them- penis make it naughty words of bedroom advice, hearts make it more heartfelt words of marriage advice! looks really neat as a centerpiece also. another fun game is "stick it in" have one girl holding a broom stick between her knees and another girl blindfolded with a roll of toilet paper between her knees then the girl with the toilet paper tries to get it around the broom stick. make up triva questions about the happy couple or maybe just the bride, a word scramble you can do on your own also- just mix up a bunch of fun bacholorette type words. you can make up truth or dare cards as a fun game during the night also- you can even take them with you to the bars for even more dare laughs. pick up a few prizes from the dollar store to give to game winners like travel mugs, candles, or whatever you find that you know you would like to recieve as a prize- stay away from lotions and crap- we all have enough of that stuff right?!

a night camping with a few girls would be super fun too!
Hope all goes well- email if you have any questions- I am happy to help!

for the hangout room-how about a Tv (maybe from a second hand shop of some kind), couches, bean bag chairs or floor pillows, cool lighting (fake lanterns, color changing mood lamps, christmas light strings), a game table of some kind (pool, fooseball, hockey), or a table for doing board games and puzzles. maybe a fish tank or a place to keep some other pet like a hamster.

if it isnt carpeted, a nice rug would be nice.

for either room-maybe you want to go with a theme? heres my list fo themes i want to do someday:
underwater
roman
egyptian
asian
princess
tropical
safari
ship/nautical

have fun! rememebr you can make neat decorations or get neat ones from the party store or a dollar store!
