Answer
Hello There,

I am going to help you organize your ideas.

1. Do you have a budget

2.The bedspread is usually the focal point so I would say replace or buy a a duvet cover.

3. Do you want to add furniture to the room. If you are thinking of of that I would suggest you get a portable kitchen island cart. You can use it for displaying your accessories. The advantage to this is that they are portable and can be moved as you like. You can find this at the resource below. This site has reviews of all kinds of colors and styles.

4. You can use decorator pillows to tie the colors together
5 Replace the curtains with sheers. they are classy and inexpensive.

Now about the colors and themes: This is what we did with our daughter's room:

She likes the forest. So, first decide what you absolutely like and would make you feel peaceful in.
We painted two walls hunter and two walls tan. She then put framed prints of a forest scene and a waterfall, one on each wall. We added an oval mirror and a framed family picture collage. It is a very beautiful room and she loves it. For the bedding she choose stripes and dots with colors of hunter, tan, red and yellow.

Color combinations are: lime green and fuchsia

purple and sky blue

orange and lime green

black and white with yellow
....just to say your combination is limited to your imagination. This is just a start.

I did not send you to a website....sometimes we just need to determine what we want then go looking or else we become frustrated.

These are not exhaustive ideas but they will allow you to start the process of imaging what the room could look like.

Please email me if you have any more questions.

help with colours for my bedroom?

Barry Bens

i have white architraves and cornices, grey walls, and jarrah floor boards and white furniture.
what colour curtains and bed spread should I have?

My bed sits against my window, so should the quilt cover and curtain color match? and what colours will go with the colours i have.

Answer
It sounds beautiful the mouldings and embellishments are very Italian. I understand you are a 16 YO Female in Australia. But I don't know enough to really make a room for "you". But I can answer the questions you have presented.

First of all you need to define your style a bit. The curtains and spread should blend not necessarily match. As long as you also blend elements in the room. For instance.

http://www.genuinestyle.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/eclectic-bedroom-5.jpg This is billed as eclectic.. As you can see many fabric textures and distinct prints were used...but it goes. The trick here is altho they used a VERY bold flower on the bed it's been minimized by it only taking a portion of the bed.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhADzobXAHTNntGSb8p3v8vUdWLDIMDWAx1kHlU9-dVrVXCzoSYB5qhBDTDRFBXhXmZmFG8lDs76OQ86XWS7PlVYPWa9TPMyqG9WdFj2ti60Y8tbi2zm1Zutf316jfmhCzlxDvKkCqvLNU/s400/bedroom6-de.jpg This image shows a very romantic classic set up (I love the Chandelier) The pillow and the throw give the the hint of colors here. They can easily be pulled in a different texture in the drape. and again http://brookegiannetti.typepad.com/.a/6a00e554d7b8278833010536cf4f10970c-500wi

So imho think white preferably in lace http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DOMINIQUE-WHITE-Cotton-Lace-Double-Size-Quilt-Cover-Set_W0QQitemZ300373792150QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Bedding?hash=item45efac5596

Add a bottom colored blanket and coordinating throws in ANY color and bring an element to the curtians. Doing this, when you get bored with the accent color.. you wisk it away and go for something different. Glass lamp. They have the ones you can fill with different colored glass stones or flowers ect. as you alter your look. http://www.ivytrellishome.com/catalog.php/ivytrellis/dt80693/pd1922317/Fillable_Glass_Lamps

Best thing to do is find an accent peice that you really enjoy then build your colors off of it http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BA1001G-B-Stained-Glass-Tiffany-Butterfly-Lamp_W0QQitemZ150394851098QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Lighting_Fans?hash=item23043b4f1a

How to design my bedroom to look vintage?

Meaghan

If you could suggest ideas or specific items at stores that I can buy, that would be great. Pretty much anything, from curtians and comforters to jewelry hangers and wastebaskets, anything that can make it look more vintage. If you mention items, please include the link to it at a specific store. Thank you :)

P.S. I'm getting my inspiration from this bedroom http://www.countryliving.com/cm/countryliving/images/childrens-bedroom-bedstead-htours0506-de.jpg and if you can find items that would correspond with this vintage bedroom specifically, that would be great. But if you have other vintage ideas, don't hesitate to mention them, because I may like your ideas better.

Answer
Wow, great room choice! Your inspiration is beautiful. I enjoy the same sort of style and one of my favorite sites for inspiration is http://parisapartment.wordpress.com/. She also has a store, but the pieces are pretty pricy. Anthropologie.com also has some beautiful vintage things occasionally. The best advice I could give it to buy simple furniture from antique stores or thrift shops and then paint them whatever color you want- then sand around the edges a bit to give it that vintage/distressed look.
Since we have a similar style aesthetic, here are some pieces you might like to check out:

Green bedroom with white furniture?

animallove

I want to paint my room green and have all white furniture in it. Would that color combination work? if you could supply pictures of a green room with white furniture that would be great.
would yellow accent looks good with it?
and what other colors would go well with green?

Answer
That sounds beautiful to me. I love green, BLUE and white combination for a soothing bedroom. Choose a soft sage or celery green for the walls and a comforter and pillows like one of these:

what color to paint my spa theme bedroom?

confused

I am decorating my new bedroom. I want a room that is very relaxing and romantic for my husband and I. I have dark furniture and I would love to incorporate my husbands, favorite color which is blue. I would like ideas on wall color, blankets and sheets, decor, rugs. I need something that will go with my furniture and the spa/relaxing theme. Thanks for any help and ideas. Below is a picture of the furniture color I have.

http://www.morfurniture.com/images/furniture/large/HawthornBedroom.jpg

Thanks

Answer
(I can't believe I went to look at your picture again and lost my entire answer --- arrrggg!). Beautiful furniture. Very pale blue walls; maybe a chair rail with it and the wall below painted cream. Cream bedding with pale blue and brown accent pillows and a pale blue throw. A chandelier, with crystals is popular now and romantic. Cream curtains (or chocolate, or cream & blue, or cream&blue& chocolate -- I'd prefer solid cream) in a fabric with a slight sheen flanking the windows with thickly-gathered sheers over the windows. Soft, plush rugs in cream, caramel, chocolate, or patterned in those colors (predominantly cream with or without pale blue and browns (maybe a tiny bit of red or gold) would be good with the dark furniture (especially on dark floors). Nightstand lamps in glass with brown or black shades. A wall-washing light in a corner or on the headboard wall (pull the bed an inch from the wall). A touch of red here and there: in a row of candles on a floating shelf, a candle in a glass container on clear glass beads, or votives floating in a glass bowl, or tiny lamps with low wattage bulbs and red shades in a few places around the room. Crown molding two inches below the ceiling with tiny string (Christmas) lights behind it so the top perimeter of the room has a soft glow. (Have an electrician install an electrical outlet just below the ceiling to plug them into with a controlling wall switch so you don't have a cord running up the wall.) A dark wood tray with a candle, lotion, red rose in a crystal bud vase, crystal perfume atomizer, space for wine glasses sitting on the bed. For architectural interest, you could have "boxes" of cream molding against the blue walls and/or above and below the chair rail. Prints in blues, browns, and cream (maybe a tiny bit of red), matted in cream with dark or thin, gilded frames, maybe with a "painting light" over one or two. A source of music in an inconspicuous place (is there a low shelf on the nightstands?) Thick, soft cream bathrobes on the bench or chair. If there's space, an over-sized chair or chaise in cream with a striped pillow in some combination of blue, chocolate, caramel, dull gold. If there's room for only a small chair, one on legs, with upholstered back and seat in a pale blue and cream, or cream and gold, stripe -- legs and frame painted cream, light blue or gold would be a lovely and unexpected contrast to the rest of the furniture. Because your furniture is dark, you may want little or no chocolate in other furnishings. Hope you find some ideas you like here.

Is there a big difference between coffee and espresso colored furniture?

Q. I am trying to complete a bedroom set by purchasing different parts from different sets. The headboard I bought was beautiful, but the dressers and armoires weren't. So I'm putting together my own "set". I would consider my headboard to be an espresso color and there is a dresser online that is considered "coffee" color. There are other dressers that are espresso but I L0VE this dresser. If I were to purchase it would the colors be totally off?

Answer
Espresso is nearly black Coffee is a very dark brown ..As far as the colors being off...yes depends on their proximity and the lighting too. PLus the colors are wildly different manufacturer to manufacturer. It could work especially if it is multitoned.. What I would do is take a photo that accurately represents the color of the headboard and email it to them but their monitors could be skewed.

How can I convince my parents to redecorate my room?

beautiful bedroom furniture images
on Beautiful Pine Bedroom Furniture Set. | eBay
beautiful bedroom furniture images image

The Direct

Right now my room is really, really boring. I have a plain bed shoved into one corner, one dresser, tall bureau drawers, and a mismatching desk. My walls are a plain blue-ish gray. My bed spread is a dark green and burgundy flower pattern my mom picked out thirty years ago. I really hate my room, and I want to redecorate it, but I know my parents will say no, because my mom wants to save up to redo the carpet. (Also, I know my older sister will probably yell at me/throw things at me/complain about me to my mom so I don't get my way/call me a brat because she loves making people feel awful.)

I really just want to liven up my room and make it more personalized. I didn't get to pick my furniture - my parents just shoved the leftover stuff in my room when I was born. I did get to pick the color (out of the three options my mom gave me.) I'm so sick of my room. I want to have a nice, pretty place to relax in.

Answer
You don't ask. Just start. Start the process. The only thing they understand is seeing you working very hard. That makes them happy. They're willing to do a lot more when it appears that their kid isn't just sitting around, expecting them to buy a new $600 smartphone and doesn't even wash the dishes. When they see that, they vow to never spend money on anything.

They may fight you on expensive things; but not something like painting walls or refinishing the chest of drawers. If you were to start piping up about wanting a brand new bedroom set and designer paint they would get cranky.. but DiY projects are practically FREE. Local thrift stores (or keeping an eye out for when neighbours leave some old table for trash day) can all be rescued and turned into really cool stuff. The key is to start working. Clear out old junk. Box it up. Start washing down the walls. Start cleaning your room and that (in and of itself) will impress them. They will scowl at your lazy, sluggish sister for just sitting around.

All ugly (mismatched) wood items can be painted.
http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee503/Shaunna-PerfectlyImperfect/Furniture%20Reveals/purdybrush_table.jpg

Solid white always looks pretty. All walls can be textured and/or painted. All existing bedding can be covered up by making comforter/duvet covers out of plain, inexpensive sheets sewn together. (solid colours), and that mismatched desk can have a new mosaic table-top.

Blue-ish-grey walls aren't so bad and you could even leave them that colour.. as well as add a wall decal like this:
http://www.mybegin.com/trendy-vinyl-wall-decals-inspirations/white-grey-living-area-with-flower-vinyl-wall-decals/

Wall decals are pretty cheap but if you don't want to buy one, just paint something interesting on the wall.. like this tree:
http://www.dezignwithaz.com/images/winter-tree-wall-decal.jpg

If it's old carpet, I would have ripped that up a looong time ago and checked out what's under there. You never know.. it may be hardwood flooring and that's awesome. Peel up a corner and see what's there. If it's wood.. pull the carpet up. They'll be thrilled they won't have to replace carpet.

Select your fav colours and start there. As far as I'm concerned, your strange sister shouldn't even be acknowledged, she sounds weird. Anyone who wastes their time bothering other people or calling their siblings a "brat" are behaviourally challenged. Ignore her. Start working on changing your bedroom by planning out what you want to do in there. Select your fav colour combo's, and start organising everything. Prepare for a massive purge and clean out all closets, etc. Go through the entire house and make piles of stuff to sell at a yard sale. You can use the money from the yard sale to buy cute, new, solid colour sheets and cover that old comforter with a pretty, solid colour (home-made) duvet cover.

Find a huge pot and plant a tree in it. Add little twinkly white lights and put the whole thing in the comer.. It'll be beautiful.

Start searching online and in design magazines for ideas. Start collecting little marbles, broken dishes and glasses, broken mirror and anything you can so you can do your own mosaic tabletop/desktop design and create your own really cool desk. Like this:

http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/medium/171402_20Sep09_DSCF0042.JPG

Mosaic table tops are so fun to make and honestly.. pretty much free. You just need to search around in thrift stores and places like that for old dishes and glasses that you can break and use.

Clean the windows, the walls, the baseboards and wipe down all of the furniture. Completely clean out your closet and sell/donate everything that is cluttering up your life and making your room difficult to be in. It's cheap to clean and paint. Once they see that you are working really hard, being proactive, planning a yard sale, enlisting friends to help you.. they will be impressed. THAT's the angle you want to take. IMPRESS THEM with how energetic and driven you are. AT NO POINT do you ASK for MONEY. (that will come later) Don't bring up the subject of wanting anything (especially money). This little demonstration will show them that you are fully prepared to do all of the work yourself and don't need them for this.

I have to walk through bathroom to get to my bedroom, How to solve it in Feng Shui?

beautiful bedroom furniture images
 on Bedroom Furniture Designs UK
beautiful bedroom furniture images image

bowie

I live with my sister and she built more room upstairs behind the bathroom and a new room happens to be my bedroom , I have to walk through the bathroom. How can I solve it in Feng Shui way? Should I put anything in the bathroom?

Answer
Well, ideally the bedroom should not be immediately opposite, above or below the bathroom, kitchen, next to the living room or children's playroom. You can enhance the yin-yang and the feng shui five elements balance with the appropriate color scheme and decor objects with the present arrangement that cannot be avoided.
Your bed should be the only big piece of furniture in your bedroom. You can opt for a wood frame instead of metal, a natural mattress and high quality cotton sheets. There should be minimum electrical fixtures but enough light and no synthetic materials in your bedroom.
A good Feng Shui bedroom supports vibrant health and happy relationships.
Sleeping is a Yin activity and therefore the bedroom should be located in a low activity area at the back of your home. A good Feng Shui bedroom is a cozy, relaxed and nurturing environment, as it is a sacred place where you renew yourself as well as share the most intimate moments with those you love. Your bedroom is your ultimate relaxing place where you are at your most vulnerable while you sleep and recharge your chi. From a yin/yang perspective, this is a more yin, quiet and peaceful environment; you need to feel protected and do not want distracting and powerful chi to disturb you. At the same time, there needs to be a good circulation of chi and plenty of fresh air available to recharge you.
Given that the bedroom is a more yin environment, the lighting that you choose needs to reflect this. Soft lighting is ideal. Avoid having ceiling lamps right directly over your bed. Pastel colors are ideal. Avoid sleeping with your image visible in a mirror. the worst scenario of all is a mirror at the foot of your bed. Place something beautiful that fills you with inspiration if you where to have a first look in the morning. Do not clutter under your bed. Keep the space clear and get rid of any unwanted items there.
For bathrooms, you can as well use feng Shui, remember two thousand years ago homes did not have bathrooms or toilets inside the home, so why now is it bad Feng Shui? The only thing you have to remember is all bathrooms should have the door closed at all times and it is kept clean, other than that do not worry if your head is facing the bathroom wall, your luck will not be affected at all.
The truth is that there is no really good placement for a bathroom in Feng Shui, at least in part because maybe the ancient Chinese system was developed before indoor plumbing. No matter where your bathroom is, there are simple fixes you can do so your good luck won’t just keep on going down the drain. Find out what they are ---
Feng Shui suggests:
1.Putting an uplifting picture or statue (a bird, a tree) in the area underneath the bathroom.
2. Hang a faceted crystal from the center of the bathroom ceiling.
3. Put an earth-related object (a crystal, terra cotta vase, or stone) in each corner of the bathroom.

Answer
A Tiffany's style in my mind speaks crystals/glass, silver tones, with light aqua color and white (Audrey’s favorite color). Think of the Tiffany's boxes/bags. Maybe two shades of aqua-bluish stripes, vertical or horizontal on the walls w/a silverish (grayish)color trim . Add crystal, glass, silver and white/cream accents/accessories and a beautiful cream color long haired rug by the bed. Use black and white photos of Audrey Hepburn and photos of New York City in varying sizes. For the bed I would "glam" it up by using cream color bedding with white and silver accent pillows alternating; with one Tiffany's style blue pillow in the center. For sheets look for ones with patterns, rather than solid colors that correspond with your color scheme. For a dresser I would go with white but if you really want to “glam” up dresser you can use your existing dresser and cover it in mirrored tiles. If you have room for a seating area by the window (window area should be light and airy); I would put a small white slightly modern round table like here: (http://www.seenonstyle.com/detail.php?p=55987&v=) DOCKSTA from IKEA), covered with a pale/Tiffany style blue throw accented with silver candle holders or a silver vase with white roses. Then put a modern arm chair like this: (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59830464 KLAPPSTA from IKEA) and accent the chair with Tiffany style blue accent pillows and one small silver one. On the table/or nightstand by the bed put a copy of Pamela Clarke Keogh Audrey Style Biography (http://www.seenonstyle.com/detail.php?p=55983&v=). Also I would look for a mirror that is floral etched in white; these are quite common in the stores now. Put in a "crystal" chandelier for lighting (like this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20089464 (KRISTALLER) or like this: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp;jsessionid=2F557DC8F2DF0B5E559A095C36330EDB.app12-node5?itemdescription=true&itemCount=60&id=12314225&parentid=A_FURN_LIGHTING_HANGING&sortProperties=+product.marketingPriority,-product.startDate&navCount=77&navAction=poppushpushpush&color=. Tear Drop Chandelier from Urban Outffiters ) For other lighting like a bedside lamp I would go with a lamp with shades trimmed with grosgrain ribbon - perhaps stripes.

Also here are some other ideas that incorporate the Old Hollywood look, where you can just subsitute the colors listed as suggetions with your Tiffany style color theme:

(can paint your bedroom walls in a light chocolate brown, look for white furniture or you can paint existing furniture in a antique white finish...accent with silver, crystal/glass...and other pale colors (like pale gray, gold for art and pillows)

Greetings Yahoo! Answers.

My husband and I recently purchased a bedroom set and a gorgeous set of sheets. Unfortunately we have no idea how to decorate this room. The walls are currently a light creamy beige with white faux wood window blinds.

Can you please suggest some painting colors, techniques and other decor ideas that can transform our bedroom into a beautiful and modern/contemporary relaxing escape.

Thanks! :D
