What are some good complementary colors to pink walls? to transform it into a more sophisticated sheek bedroom?

Q. My dad seems to be oblivious to the fact that his girls are fully grown women! so we are now stuck with hot pink walls in the female suite of our family house. I will rather not paint over it (and hurt his feelings :) so I am looking for complementary colors and decorating ideas to mute out this bold color and ground the space. Any suggestions?

A. You can make your room quite modern and glamorous. White furniture or mirrored fronts on your wood pieces would look nice with a crystal chandelier Add some black and white artwork of Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe with a furry rug. Green is the complementary color to red and pink is just a tinted red. Use a soft green with whites for a fresh, vibrant, crisp look or muted soft greens such as celedon or sage for a calmer feel. Grass green is strong and Lime green is vibrant.
I would suggest choosing your bedding first and pull your palette from it. Or, decide on your artwork and build from there. Here is an example of pink incorporated in a Gauguin painting. Black will always ground a room.

bedroom decorating ideas for young women?
Q. me and my sister share the same room, but it is realy big. we want are room to have light wall coloring. oh i am 14 and shes 15. anyways we dont want the furniture too bright and crazy. we want a seating area with a couch and fluffy stuff to make it cozy. with candesls and stuff. so if you have any ideas/pics or website links would be goood THANKS!

A. Pick a color you both love and have that be your main color. Paint your room a light shade of that color. Also, paint your door and trim white.
Find cute bedspreads that have that color as the dominate color.
Get white furniture. (bed, desk, dresser, etc)
Get accent decorations in a darker shade of the color you pick for your room.
You should also pick another accent color, and get decorations with that color (maybe pull a color from the bed spreads if theres more than one color on them).
If you get a couch, get one in a darker shade of the color you picked.
Get a fluffy white rug or throw, or a few of them. like this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/83235110.

Another idea is paint your walls gray and do everything else the same as above IF it looks good with gray. You should also have a few gray items here or there.

How much would it cost me to have my bare 1 bdrm apartment interior designed?
Q. I have no decoration skills at all. I have a basic one bedroom apartment and have about $10,000 to spare. Is that enough to make my apartment look and feel really cool and high tech?

A. Dude - there are women everywhere who would love to help you for free. There are also professionals who would love to take a big cut to do the job. Do you have a friend who's style you like? Ask him or her for help. Actually some furniture stores will offer the service if you spend enough on furniture. Some areas offer this as a free service and get paid by the companies that do the work. Look on line at all the decorating - ladies - home improvement magazines - they all have on line decorating ideas you can peruse. (Lowe's, Home Depot, Ladies Home Journal) Happy searching - Try this: http://valspar.com/project-ideas.html?source=p&mcode=ValsparSearch2009_YahooSearch or type in "interior decorating" in your search line to see where it will take you.
